Autumn Kisses

Valente FrazierTyra's Makeup Artist Valente Says: With the cold season upon us, many are experiencing dry, peeling, lack-luster kissers. Well, trade those chapped lips in for a healthy, sexy, moist pout! The skin on our lips is very thin and delicate, therefore one must take extra care to nourish and protect it from the elements.

First off, if you are experiencing peeling, try Tyra's favorite all-in-all antidote - VASELINE! Moisten your pouter with H20, and follow with a generous amount of Vaseline. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes (you can pass the time by taking a shower or brushing your teeth.) After the allotted time has passed, wet the bristles of your toothbrush and gently brush your lips in a circular motion. This action sloughs away the dead, peeling skin revealing soft, attractive, kissable lips! To keep your lips looking sweet, olive oil is a favorite home maintenance balm, and natural shea butter is great natural lip balm.

Fashion Rules to Live By

Tyra’s Stylist Yaniece Says:
If you love clothes, shoes and accessories as much as I do, here are a few tips to live by.

Fashion Rules

First and foremost, investing in a really great bag is never a mistake. It always elevates an outfit.

Secondly, know your body. Almost anything can be hidden with the right cut. I have a large chest and straighter waist and hips. I prefer lower necklines and baggy tops – they take the attention away from my waist and add a little curve to my hip. Whereas Tyra has a full breast line and a small waist, so I give her what I call the “cinch and snatch,” which is lower neckline tops with an accentuating cut to show off her fabulous curves!

Third, avoid getting stuck in a fashion rut. I’m constantly on the lookout for new stores. It's the best way to build a varied and interesting wardrobe.

Fourth and final rule....your goal should be to appear polished and tasteful, but still look like you’re having fun. Remember to rock your style with confidence!

All Rolled Up...

Lawrence Tyra’s Hair Stylist Lawrence Says:
One of the best styling tools ever created is the HAIR ROLLER! Sponge, plastic, or velcro, some of the most beautiful styles worn today can be achieved by setting the hair on rollers.

Rollers have been around forever and come in various sizes ranging from the width of your index finger, to larger than a soda can. They also offer versatility. You can use rollers to set wet hair while sitting under a dryer, or simply roll clean, dry hair straight onto hot rollers. This can be done an hour before that special event. It’s important to know that the size of the roller matters. The smaller the roller - the tighter the curl. The larger the roller - the more volume you’ll receive.

Hide Those Bags…and I’m NOT Talking About Louis Vuitton or Prada

Valente
Tyra’s Makeup Artist Valente Says:
Finding concealer that will hide the evidence of your late night twirling on the dance floor might seem like mission impossible. No need to wear sunglasses all day because I’m here to arm you with the necessary knowledge to hide the dark circles under your eyes.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Before applying concealer, take a look at your skin. If you have normal to dry skin, use a moisturizing cream first to hydrate and prepare the area for concealer. If you have oily skin, choose an eye cream that’s formulated for oily skin or silicone based. There’s no oil in silicone products and they serve as a vehicle to help concealer glide on the skin.

Ladies, want to know what the hottest fashion accessory out on the market today is? It’s hair extensions! That’s right, whether on the red carpet or at the grocery store, everybody is getting their hair accessorized with extensions. There are many reasons why hair extensions are becoming more popular these days. They add versatility, giving you a major change to your overall look in a short period of time. You can walk into a salon with a short, spiky style and walk out with long luxurious locks, or take your look from razor straight to curls full of bounce in no time! The Hottest Cut for All Women - and How to Work It!

Think Like A GuyTyra’s Hair Stylist Neeko Says:

Ladies, I am about to give you all of the information necessary so you can achieve my signature haircut! This is the cut I gave Tyra, and it’s the most consumer friendly haircut that works for all women with mid-length to long hair. The big secret is in the layers…long layers. Long layers allow for the most versatility when it comes to styling. It works on models, the runway, photo shoots, in the office and other everyday situations. The length of the layers allows you to put half of your hair up, wear it all down or put all up! The layers are long enough to pull into a pony tail or pull pieces out along the hairline for a softer look. Another advantage of this look is that is looks totally different on everybody.

The Word for the Season: LAYERS

Picture of Yaniece ThomasTyra’s Stylist Yaniece Says:
Be prepared to work it this winter by adding layers and layers - a warm welcome for more comfort and joy! Although it may take more time and money, layering is a great substitute for a heavy coat. Plus, you won't shiver through the cold winter months.

Say, “so long,” to puffy coats, sleeveless turtlenecks, and chiffon in January. Look for long sleeve cashmere turtlenecks and wear them underneath a shift dress with tights and a high boot. Or, rock a t-shirt and lightweight jacket with a cropped coat as the final layer, paired with slim fitting jeans. A great layering look for the office is a basic turtleneck underneath a crisp white blouse with a tweed skirt or baggy menswear trousers. Fabrics for men are proving to be fit for women, so try plaids, pinstripes, or herringbone and offset this masculine look with feminine fabrics and texture, such as silk and ruffles.

Tyra's Glamorous Emmy Look

Tyra walked the red carpet in style during the 2006 Emmy’s, looking like a glamorous movie star from the 1940’s. Tyra's Glam Squad stylists Kiyah, Valente and Yaniece share details about how they achieved the look.

Tyra

Tyra’s Hair Stylist Kiyah Says:
The hot trend in hair now is all about sweeps, swirls, and updos with a polished finish. I achieved this look on Tyra by pulling all of her hair over to the right to create a side chignon. Chignon is a French term for a roll or knot of hair worn at the back of the head or the nape of the neck, mostly on special occasions. I then French rolled it, tucking hair neatly behind her ear. If you’d like to try this look at home, use a very firm hairspray that will also give hair a slick polished look. Some of my favorite products include the waxy texture of the TGI Bead Head Stick for all those little fly aways that you can’t seem to get to stay down, and Rusk W8Less control and shaping spray.

How to Achieve the Perfect Brow

Picture of Yaniece Thomas

TYRA'S MAKEUP ARTIST VALENTE SAYS:
On your quest for brow nirvana, it’s important to have the correct tools – a brow brush, great stainless steel tweezers, and clear brow gel. Your tweezers can make all of the difference, so don’t be afraid to spend money on a great stainless steel tweezer. The better the quality the better the results. I like the Rounded Tip Tweezer by Tweezerman because it grabs the hair well and its rounded point makes it very hard to have an accident with, so you won’t stab yourself! A good quality tweezer will also grab the hair much better, while cheaper versions aren’t made to grab hair as efficiently and will also break the hair off instead of pulling it out at the root.

Fashion Tips for Fall

Yaniece ThomasFall 2006 is a dark season. It's all about jewel tones, but don't be a bore. Spice up your life with crimson. Red is the new black. There are a lot of subdued colors out there, so have fun - mix sapphire with black or plum with chocolate. My fall NO NOs – don’t do 80’s neon, brights with black.
