Josh: Dating Deal Breaker #1

josh-week2.jpg

Ladies, you have to have your own place. You can’t be living with your parents or sharing a studio with a roommate.

I know this. I once made a painful mistake …

Carrie: Pole Position

carrie-sfactor-class.jpg Everyone says the key to finding love is being open and flexible. And who knows more about being open and flexible than professional dancers (the kind that take their clothes off)?

So in the interest of true love, I just took my first pole dancing class. It was sexy, it was sensuous, it was definitely not safe for work!

Elizabeth: Here’s to You, Mrs. Robinson

There’s been a bit of bad news coming from my “Single and Fierce” blogs for awhile now. That’s because, for the most part, the dating world is a sick, sad mess filled with boys who keep us guessing and, in general, have less social grace than the sloppy, drunk buffoons I begrudgingly remember from my frat party days.

But this week, I have some good news to report: There is hope.

Ask the Guys: Question #1

QUESTION: I'm talking to this guy and he called me beautiful. I'm flattered, but I'd be even more flattered if he felt the same way about my personality. My question is, how do I know if he is interested in ME and not just my looks?

- Anonymous

Bachelor #1 - I can answer that with a simple comparison.

Let’s say dating is like buying a house. If he is in the market for a long-term relationship, then he doesn’t just walk up to the first house with pretty bushes and fancy shingles and sign the papers. Sometimes the lights are on, but no one is home.

Malena: The Ex Factor

A trip this weekend to see my ex has me in a nerve-pinched trial over what to pack. Standing amidst lipsticks and playthings, books and clothes, the dilemma stalks in. Do I pack my silky-spring Victoria Secrets or my battle-tested, cotton panties; a delicious little black dress or my full-coverage black hoodie?

Katie: Picking Up My Male

katie-grandma.jpg
If there was an exact opposite for Disneyland, it would have to be the United States Post Office. There are certain truths you must understand any time you choose to enter this time trap:

1. You will be there roughly one hour. This is in no way correlated to the number of people in front of you in line.
2. The simpler your task, the more difficult it will be for the postal worker to complete.
3. You will seriously consider throwing a temper tantrum approximately 3-5 times.

Single & Fierce - Meet Brian!

A little over a week ago I was preparing a trip to California to escape the drudgery and depression that is Chicago winter, when on a chance peek into my email I found out "The Tyra Banks Show” was looking for single, male bloggers. Of course, as with all emails, I was immediately suspicious of the message and assumed it was simply some ploy to get me to sign up for more online porn subscriptions.

Is it possible to be a crazy cat lady at age 23? If so, I'm ready to take on the title.

Single & Fierce - Meet Mike!

I am not a self-proclaimed player. In fact, very recently, when my fellow bachelor Drew introduced me to a friend, saying: “This is Mike, he can get any girl in this bar,” I felt more pressure than pride. I’m the first to admit it’s not entirely true. I mean, I do alright, but I didn’t always.

I am, however, a self-proclaimed pop culture nerd. I grew up on eighties movies, where the heroes weren’t man’s men like Humphrey Bogart, and they didn’t have to go get the girl, the girl came to them. For me, John Cusack taught me that love meant getting trampled on until it finally paid off in the end. I tried that—I just got tired of waiting for the end.

Single & Fierce - Meet Josh

meetjosh.jpg Josh is a bartender who likes to romance the Miami tourists and is still figuring out how to make a relationship work.

I have been single for almost two years. After my last relationship ended, I decided to take a good look at what I was really searching for. Why haven’t any of my relationships lasted, and what would it take for me to be in a relationship again?

It turns out it is going to take about five things. Four of them are solid. The fifth one is negotiable. There will be more on that later.
