BEWARE! There are many unscrupulous companies trying to take advantage of actors. Don’t believe it if it’s...too good to be true. For those struggling to get a break, the chance to be seen by casting agents, to work with directors, to be spotted by managers and agents is everything.

There are certainly many legit companies that offer a chance to meet and read for casting agents and directors in a classroom setting; but be aware that if any fee is charged for these sessions, your participation may be in violation of SAG Rule 11 or California Labor Laws.

Other ways to stay safe during an audition or casting call:

- Take a friend along to auditions
- Never disrobe at an audition
- Never try out at a private residence

Fashion modeling is the category aspiring models usually think of when they dream of being a model. Unscrupulous model and talent scouts have their acts down pat. Listen carefully to read between their lines.

WHAT THEY SAY: "We're scouting for people with your 'look' to model and act."

WHAT THEY MEAN: I need to sign up as many people as possible. My commission depends on it.


WHAT THEY SAY: "Your deposit is totally refundable."

WHAT THEY MEAN: Your deposit is refundable only if you meet very strict refund conditions.

It was cool to see the new girls doing it up on the “Top Model” cycle 7 premiere. I thought the photo shot was an interesting concept, and I wouldn’t be true Jade if I didn’t share my first impressions and opinions on what I saw. So here goes…

**Michelle: This is the girl I have my eye on because she is what the industry loves…Why??? I still wonder myself, but she has that Calvin Klein model appeal. Michelle had my favorite photo this week!
