Donna and Sara were frugal fashionistas who refused to spend a lot to look like a million dollars. Tyra put the savvy shoppers to the test and challenged them to find two trendy outfits for less than $100 in a two-hour timeframe. They started off their mission at popular Los Angeles thrift shops Mannequins and Wasteland.

Donna’s Looks
The look on the left was a Chanel inspired, hip office look that could take a go from day to night for only $44.77
The look on the right was all about layers. Donna said a little bling and the deconstructed jacket gave it a special touch that cost a total of $37.57

Grand Total for Both Looks: $82.34

Anyone can go to the mall and pick the same old clothing everyone else gets from the racks, but it takes time, talent and a true “fashionista” to find that one-of-a-kind item for a bargain that would blow you away.

There is one thing about me everyone knows and that is I will never show up to an event wearing the same thing as someone else because I don’t have to and neither do you. It is called thrifting, to some it is called secondhand shopping, to others bargain busting, but for me it is a hobby, talent and a way of life. If you don’t know what I am talking about I will let you in on my little secret. I am a thrifter, I go to secondhand shops, antique shops, thrift stores, swap meets and yes, even the occasional yard sale to find one-of-a kind items for less. Not only am I saving a bundle of cash, I am getting beautiful vintage items to add to my wardrobe (today’s fashion all starts with vintage), as well as outfits and prices to die for. I have a few secrets of the trade to share with you, and soon, you too can be a thrifty “fashionista.”

WHAT THEY SAY: "We're scouting for people with your 'look' to model and act."

WHAT THEY MEAN: I need to sign up as many people as possible. My commission depends on it.


WHAT THEY SAY: "Your deposit is totally refundable."

WHAT THEY MEAN: Your deposit is refundable only if you meet very strict refund conditions.
