Okay so kris. No offense but your didn't think fast enough. If he was doing all that crap to you and texting your best friend and looking at her and commenting on her instead of you, you don't sit there and take it. You should have done the same. I FLIP OUT if I even catch my bf looking at another girl; eventhough sometimes he really isnt looking at any girl but it just seems like it. No one should be able to ruin any body's prom night. Its such a beautiful experience and it should be for everybody. If I were you I would have dropped him out of my life that exact night, and went and danced with another guy. But what happened happened and it sucks that it did. Just think faster when you're forced into a situation like that.

So it was my junior prom and I was going with my boyfriend of about 6 months. I thought the evening would be great but turned out it was otherwise. It all started when I picked him up and we went to go get our pictures taken at school. Then in walks my best friend and her date. My boyfriend at the time (Sam) looks at her and says "she looks beautiful" and "Why is she going with an ugly guy like him?" well anyways I sloughed that off and went about the night. At dinner he was texting her using my phone and saying that he would save a dance for her tonight. Then at the actual dance they exchanged phone numbers and he had a dance with her and I got very angry and went and sat and watched them. Then at the after party he paid no attention to me and went about playing games and I would catch him smiling at my best friend! at this point I'm feeling very sick to my stomach. We left and I dropped him off and all he did was give me a very dry kiss on the lips and left. I went home and cried. I can proudly say now days I am not with him no more! IF YOUR BOYFRIEND SEEMS INTERESTED IN YOUR BEST FRIEND...WATCH OUT! PS they also went on a date together after that...traitors

Heya Tyra,
Prom 2003, I was seventeen and totally ready. The dress, the hair, the nails, makeup, shoes, you name it. There was just one problem both myself and my date were anticipating. Since the age of 15 I have lived with severe social anxiety and panic attacks dealing with them in anyway I can. For prom I wouldn't be taking any chances and my counselor suggested I talk to my doctor for some relief. Take no more than 1- 1/2 of these every 4 hours they said. everything was perfect except the medicine wasn’t working. I could feel myself crumbling before we ever made it to the doors of the building. Maybe I needed a little more I thought as fingered through my purse for the little bottle with the precious pills. We lasted no more than 30 minutes and we were up in the hotel as my date had assisted me to the room. I passed out cold and he was mad! I think I ruined the night for both of us which was a shame because so much was put into making the night memorable though I can honestly say that evening is not something I’ll soon forget. If you suffer from anxiety and you’re thinking about skipping out or taking an alternate route, don’t. Everybody’s nervous but nothing ruins your pretty outfit faster than a strung out face in your once in a lifetime pictures and who wants to look back at the night and say they were at home playing scrabble. What I’ve learned about dealing with anxiety since then is work it out. Workout, lay off the caffeine, confide in you’re friends and try to relax. Life is too precious to be spending it in the bathroom trying to catch your breathe, and you’re better off winging it. It’s your life, your prom and it’s all you baby!

Hey Tyra!
Well in 2004, I was a junior in high school, my boyfriend at the time, Steve was a senior. So ofcourse I'm expecting that we are going to go to prom together. Boy was I wrong, ran track and said he had a track meet at 6 a.m. the morning after prom so he wasn't going. I knew he was lying! So I was determined to "catch him up." A friend of mine, Delonte didn't have a date for prom so he asked me if I would go with him as friends, I decided I would. So we get to prom, and sit at our table...and in walks Steve with another girl! They even sat right behind us! He eve had the nerve to come to me and say "Hey baby! you look beautiful." Needless to say it was OVER after that! I was so upset I didn't enjoy myself the rest of the night and then to make it worse...Delonte lied and told everyone we had sex after prom! I went straight home after prom and my mom was standing at the door when I got home, I didn't so much as even kiss him on the cheek or hug him!!!!

Talk about prom night disaster!!!!!!! My high school prom was in May of 1994,it was the worst night of my life. When they say "you should listen to your mother" That is the truest statement anyone could ever say. First my mom told me to just go by myself, but I had an oppurtunity to go with a guy I had a crush on since like the second grade. He even paid for me to go so I thought it was going to be the best night of my life. I got up early that morning went and got my hair and nails done.I was so excited. Then around 5:15 pm I started to get dressed, call my date and asked him what time he wanted me to be ready because the prom started at 7:00pm. As you know no body wants to be the first one there. Well I was looking good I must say and ready for anything.6:30pm came and went no date,8:00pm came and went no date. By this time I was fuming,I call my date and he said he was on the way.9:00pm came and went no date, 9:45pm my date pulled up blowing the horn like a mad man. Trying to hold in all my anger I walked to the vehicle that was dirty, and falling apart.Once I got into the car he says "I have to run and get my mom from work". I am thinking we are already like three hours late.We get to his mom's job and she is chatting with some guys for like another 25 minutes. We got to the prom at 10:30 pm, the guy that was taking the pictures was about to leave. I had to plead with him to please take my picture. We missed the dinner, only got one dance in and not even together. I didn't see him anymore until 10 minutes after the prom was over at 11:55pm. My date finally made it to the car and asked if I wanted to go and eat, then go with him and a few other couples to a "hotel party". I said sure I'll go eat but I don't think I want to go to the "hotel party". He became a bit upset and took me to Mickey D's to eat and then took me home. He gave me a hug and told me that I ruined his night. Go figure he made me like 4 hours late for my prom and because he thought he was getting the goods I ruined his night. That is a night I will never forget.

So my senior prom was supposed to be the biggest night of my life apart from my quinceanera and my wedding. So I went to Cache and ordered my dress. Not only did they lose my dress but I had to get a dress I didn't like. Then I had a hair and nail appointment. My parents were at a church function and well needless to say I missed my appointments. My boyfriend at the time was supposed to go with me but ended up breaking his leg and couldn't fly in. So I went to prom with my hair in a bun, makeup done by my mom, in a dress I didn't like. On top of that my ex bf was there with the girl he left me for...needless to say it was horrible having them mock me for having to go last minute with my gay best friend as my date. Oh by the way, my parents were my ride there and back. My prom really sucked!

We havnt talked in 2 weeks i tried calling him but he wont respond i dont know what to do because he bought my ticket and everything. I want my senior prom to be amazing but i dont think it can be because of this and its not like i can just forget about him because he is my crush i dont know what to do anymore.

Hi Tyra,
my name is barbie, my prom night was the worest night of my life. i was working with my dad, had my hair in rollers, had a date with my boyfriend , i thought. when i got home from work with my daddy, i was told that my so called boyfriend was going to another prom with someone else. my mother had made me wear my sisters gown not ironed, so i had no date wrinkled gown, but i wasn't going to let that stop me . i went to the prom without a date and a wrinkled gown and my head was held high with pride, because i know it wasn't going to stop me from going to my prom . i still went and had a great time.
i'm a 60 yr old lady and i still look like i was when i was in school.
thank you for listening. to this out of school 41yrs.
i love your show very much and i think you are a very beautifull young lady.
take care and god bless

Hi! So, this isn't really about prom night, but about how i got asked to prom and before prom. I feel like i'm the only girl that has done this. It was after track practice and i had picked up my math book and my backpack to go to my locker, but as i picked my book up a note slipped out. It was a riddle that meant to basically say go to the nearest restroom. So i went, and there was nothing there, and on the way to my locker i pass his friends. They were holding a poster with my name on it. And they pretended like i didn't see them and walked in a different direction. When i turned around though after they passed us i saw them walk backwards into the girl's restroom. That was when i figured out that something went wrong? One of his friends came to me and was like hey forget the first clue, go back to the track. There was a clue on a hurdle, but i couldn't understand the riddle and his friend couldn't either. So we gave up and went back to the restroom to just get the poster and when i walked out of the restroom. He was standing outside with flowers and he asked and i said yes. Then, i fell down without even taking a step. When i took the flowers i fell down again. It made me think i was weak on my knees. It was weird. Then, he told me i had found the last clue first and had skipped about 6 other clues. I had ruined the whole thing. And when prom night came he was so afraid of my dad we were about 2 feet away when we took pictures and he did not say a word. Then, when we met up with our other friends, we found out we didn't have a limo because the limo guy forgot and didn't have a spare driver.
That was my first dance with a boy experience.

Hi Tyra,
So I love your show and watch it as often as I can. I know this is supposed to be 'Prom Nightmares' but i just wanted readers and you to know that not all proms are disastrous and there is another side to the dreaded prom.
My prom was fabulous. Me and my huge group of friends went to a fondue restaurant in Scottsdale, which took us three hours to eat at by the way. After we rode in really nice cars there, I met this really cool guy and danced with him for the rest of the night. My school won The Ultimate Prom contest and there were contortionists there, they were from Cirque Du Soleil. So it just made prom an even more memoirist night. After prom we all hung out at my friends house and went swimming. There was one down side to the evening, I got a stain from the oil at the fondue restaurant on my dress.
Once again, I love your show Tyra. Keep up the great work and helping so many people.

Well Tyra, let me tell you about the prom from hell. First i bought a dress and didnt realize it had an ink stain on it and when i tried to take it back, the store said no refunds or exchanges on dresses. So i put it in the cleaner to see if i could get the stain out and the cleaner knocked out a stone on my brouch in the middle of my dress. So i went to buy another dress, and the zipper broke on that dress. So i ended up wearing the dress with the missing stone. Now the hair. I had shirley timbles and at first it was cute, until they all fell. My hair was flat before i even got dressed for prom. Then i got my hair together, a little, so now it was time to go see everyone. Got to my dad's house and my boyfriend decided to park right next to bushes. So when i got out, i walked behind the car so i wouldnt mess up my dress any more then it already is. NOw let me remind you, my dress is missing a stone and still has the ink stain on it. So when we come back out of my dad's house, my boyfriend ignores the bushes and take me through them. I hold up my dress so my dress doesnt get caught in the bushes. My boyfriend holds back the branches for himself, but when i get ready to go through he lets the branches go. I dropped my dress, it hit the tire and the bushes. So now i had a hole in my dress, a tire print on my dress, an ink stain on my dress, and a missing stone. Needless to say that my boyfriend and i started arguing and we argued all night. The worst night ever!!!!

Hey Tyra,
Growing up in Guyana prom wasn’t popular as it’s in America. In Guyana there were only selected schools that have prom. I move to New York freshman years of high school and juniors years all my friends could talked about is prom, I couldn’t wait to experience this great excitement .Finally it was senior years I was over joy to make it thus far I started shopping for prom. The day for prom had arrived I couldn’t wait to wear my dress and walked the carpet and experience the great adventure but I never imaging this joy could have turn into a nightmare in a quick second. I give my limo driver three hours before prom to do five pick up of my friends we all like within fifteen to twenty minute from each other he took like two hours to do the first pick up while everyone keep calling my phone yelling and cursing me out wanted to know where the limo was I guess they think I didn’t hirer a limo, I just stole there money. Finally the limo driver finish picking up everyone we where already two hour late for prom come to find out the driver didn’t know how to get where the prom was taking place before he asked us if we know how to get there he kept driving so one of my friends asked him where he was going he told her to prom. So I asked him if he know where the prom is he say “yes but I don’t know how to get there” now we had to direct him how to get there. Finally we arrived it was so embracing because like thirty min after we got there prom finish the after party wasn’t better we arrived at the after party the club sloe more ticket than the club could accommodate we was standing in the line for over three hours waiting to get in as people come out people go in . I taught prom supposes to be one of the most memorable moments of high school life but for me it was one of the most horrible days of my life.

My prom wasnt perfect but it really was. My prom was at the disney land hotel in 2001. My date, (now my husband of 3 years), droped bbq chicken on my ivry dress. After the prom we went to dennys for a late dinner/breakfast. The best part is i knew i loved him that night and we married 4 years later and now have a 2 year old and another one due in september.

My prom night started out as a disaster, got better, then ended even crazier!
I was going to prom my boyfriend of almost a year. Me, him, and 2 other couples got a limo together. However, before the limo even arrived things started going wrong; my corsage was the wrong color, my shoe strap broke, and my dress snagged in a couple places. After our friends started arriving at my house I started to feel better. Then, our one-armed limo driver pulls up with our limo- which turned out to seat less people than we were told, & had a broken air conditioner! We didn't want to make a big deal out of it so we squeezed in and were on our way, being honked at and swore at the whole way there b/c the driver wasn't very good at driving! When we finally got to the prom it turned out great, we all had lots of fun and were sad when the night was over. After dropping off the first couple our driver tried turning down a street and scraped the whole bottom of the limo on a sewer grate on the corner. As we drove on down the block we started to smell gasoline! As soon as we started going down the hill, our limo BURST INTO FLAMES! Turns out the guys broke the gas line on the limo & it had all rushed to the engine as we went down the hill & since the engine was so hot- POOF! We all dove out of the limo and watched all the chaos as we waited for our rides home; they didn't even send us another limo! And after all that, they wouldn't even give us our money back!

Hi Tyra,
My senior prom started off a dream and ended a nightmare. I'd asked my former boyfriend to be my senior prom date. We went to his senior prom together the previous year. Of course he'd since graduated and went away to college, but promised me he would take me to mine. So like every other senior girl, I picked out our colors, pre paid for pictures, prom tickets, and bought a $400 dress. Which was a huge sacrifice for my family, But my parents wanted to do something special for me as a senior gift. After confirming that my date had his tuxedo and ticket back to our home town. I felt we were well prepared for our special night. Wanting to recap the year before. The day of the prom I spoke with him that morning he said everything was good and he couldn't wait to see me that evening. His relatives even called me wanting to come over to my house to see us off that evening. After an entire day of hair, make-up, and waxing I was finally ready. He then calls me an hour before my senior prom and informed me he couldn't go because he didn't have the money for a tuxedo (So he Said). Later finding out he took another girl from another school to her prom. So so hurt, crying and embarassed my girls and parents convinced be to attend. All of my girls had dates except me...dinner, prom, and after prom..no Date. I even had to keep my word on an after prom trip to Orlando, Fl which was 3hrs away from Palm Beach. But I couldn't back out because my girls and I already prepaid for our rooms and Disney World tickets. It was torture...and It took me some time to get over it. But a year later I saw him at the college we both ended up attending and I thought I would just slap him like I'd dreamed I do for months if given the chance. But because God humbled my heart I was able to forgive him. I said "Hello", he said "You look Great", I said "I know" and then said "nice to see your well" and then walked away. Yes I can't ever get that night back again but have learned to have closer after 7yrs. lol

My prom experience was horrible. I didn't get asked until three weeks beforehand because of this rumor going around school about me and none of the guys wanted to take me to prom because of it. When someone finally asked me, I really wanted to go, so I said yes even though I wasn't interested in him, and I got this gorgeous dress. A week before prom, he calls me and tells me that he's found "someone prettier" to take to prom. After being stood up at another dance, the rule set by my parents concerning me going to dances was "no date, no go", so I couldn't find another date and ended up not going. Instead, I visited my sister and got to hear from all my friends how their proms went and have a non-returnable dress hanging in my closet.

I HATED my high school prom! I was so excited for it and it was nothing like I thought it was going to be. First, my mom told me that we couldn't afford a dress. My guy friend offered me money to buy one and this made my then-boyfriend VERY angry so I rejected the money (my boyfriend didn't even offer to buy me a dress)! I did end up getting a dress though and I loved it! Second, me and my boyfriend broke up so my date switched from my boyfriend to my guy friend back to my boyfriend when we got back together. Third, my relationship with my boyfriend was horrible! He emotionally abused me and controlled me and I wasn't allowed to be away from him for long once we made it to prom! I didn't want him there! Third, he accused me of groping guys in pictures (I wasn't!) and then wouldn't talk to me for a bit! Fourth, i really realized that my boyfriend had totally detroyed my relationship with my friends because I was slightly ignored by them the whole night! Fifth, my dress starting unravelling at the hem, I actually looked manly, I didn't feel pretty the whole night, a girl had the same dress as me but a different colour and lastly when I got home I did nothing but cry! Oh wait one more thing, the DJ wasn't that great! Boo!

Tyra I went to my junior prom in a dress I barely liked and then this guy ended up bumping me into a car when my date and I were walking through the parking lot becuase we also didn't have enough money for a limo, anyway straight into another car and I ended up with huge black streaks down one side of my dress that I could not get out with soap and water when we got inside. This year a lot of students can't afford prom including me so I have personally organized an alternative prom with my bestfriend... the problem is even though I won't have to pay for the ticket anymore, I still don't have any money to spend on a nice dress due to the lack of money and college this fall. This is my senior prom I mean its great that I'll be building it myself from the money of the tickets sold and be proud of what I accomplished, but I won't feel that amazing in a dress I don't like...what's sad is the dress that I really want is only $180...needless to say with a dress I don't like and the fact that I always tend to do my makeup nearly the same...I don't want my very last memory of high school to be wrecked...please give me some pointers... anybody, I'm making prom more affordable and better for so many people but what about my prom?

hi tyra,
Well my prom experience was not really funny but I actually laugh whenever I remember that time. So her it goes... Me and my prom date who is my boyfriend for two years that time went together and even made the traditional cotillion dance for the vening because we were chosen to be a part of the dance the dance and the first part of the night went well but when it was party time already I mean the dancing part already is happening he was gone and I looked for him every where and there I caught him dancing so sweet and making out whatever with his girl classmate who used to be my good friend when we were in gradeschool. So sad and humiliating for me since he was a star volleyball player and I was the all time president,a week after he didn't even talked to me he even started to avoid me and when he decided to talk to me he broke up with me! the nerve of that guy. But I got over it now.. well after 3 years Iam so over it already so now we are friends and smile and say hello whenever we bump to each other. more power tyra!! keep doing more great episodes!

Hi,
My high school prom was the night from hex. First the month before prom I asked a specific guy to go to the prom with me, whom I liked and everyone thought the same thing about him. Well he said yes! But it doesn't stop there. I got tickets for us because he said if i got the tickets then he would do all of the extra things you would do on a prom night. Well we were getting things planned out like the offits, but then he said he couldn't come to prom because he didn't want to go and that he didn't dance or anything like that. Well I was completly crushed because I had my dress and everything to go with it and had two tickets. Well then i decide to ask my good friend to go with me and he said that he was already asked but since it was two people whom he cared he wouldnt go and he even said this in front of the girl. So we both planned him not to go. Well i decided to ask my best friend if he was doing anything that night. He said no, so we planned to go. And because i had no extra money and neither did he, my mom had to take us to dinner, then take us to the a park for pictures and to drop us off. Well it was good until we got in.
It was like everyone was looking at me, like why are you here and what is ur business here. And plus my date didnt have a tux or nothing like that, so he was under dress for the whole thing. And that didnt help anything. I had a few friends, but then when i was talking to my friends i saw my other friend there with the girl whom he told he wasnt going with but hey he was there. Then it just keept on going down hill. I had one person tell me that i shouldn't wear the dress that i had because it me made to ten times fatter and my date laughed at that. Then my date kept on going to other girls and checking them while i was there just sitting so finally he got told that he had to dance but then he did but still he didnt want to. My dress strap was starting to rip, my crouse fell apart, my high heel chip so it was uneven, i said the cycle with a white prom dress and nothing with me. And people just kept on laughing and not being there selves. All i got to say tyra my prom i want to forgot so that i dont have to go to the worst night in my life. And that it will never haunt me. well that's my prom story. This was in 2oo6

My prom is may 10 and i have a real big dilema. I am excited to go cause i got the perfect date but we have been texting for a month straight and he finally got the bill and its $500 and he blamed it all on me.
