Celebrate 'The Tyra Banks Show Day!'
When Tyra hit the New York City streets for her 500th episode spectacular she had giving at the top of her mind. So she wasn't expecting the big surprise that NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg had for her. He didn't just declare April 18, 2008 "The Tyra Banks Show" day, he proclaimed it. Check Mayor Bloomberg's official proclamation to find out why even he thinks Tyra is the fiercest act in town!

Whereas: As the media capital of the world and home to an incredibly fashionable population, it's no wonder that New York City has embraced “The Tyra Banks Show” - or that the preeminent glamazon recently moved the program's production to our great city. Today, we are proud to celebrate The Tyra Banks Show's 500th episode!
Whereas: Like so many of our residents, Tyra is fun-filled, but also committed to giving back and building a better future. Not only does her program support our thriving film and television production industry, which supports 100,000 New York jobs and contributes $5 billion to our economy each year - it also tackles important social issues, uplifting guests and audience members alike. And considering our city's aggressive efforts to combat counterfeiting, episodes like "How to Spot a Fake" also make tremendous civic (and aesthetic) contributions.
Whereas: Part of my motivation for honoring Tyra is my hope to become America's Next Top Model (my term ends in just 618 days, and my advisors say I look surprisingly good in heels.) But that's not all. Tyra's style, generosity, and ferocity truly represent the very best our great city has to offer. On behalf of all New Yorkers, here's hoping that her "Made in New York" show will continue creating episodes "all new from the 212" (and 718, 646, 917, and 347) for many years to come.
Now therefore, I, Michael R. Bloomberg, mayor of the city of New York, in recognition of her show's 500th episode, do hereby proclaim Friday, April 18th, 2008 in the city of New York as: "The Tyra Banks Show Day."

Now Tyra please do one for all the women of the world and get that new artist REAL on your show, he is just the best thing sine food girl and his music is just out of this world! please, please,please Tyra get him for us on your show before the others do. Hey Tyra I know you hear this all the time but my daughter and I really admire you. Congs on your 500th show. I will meet you one day maybe when "Rich Boy" gets a grammy because my son's dream came true and he now produces beats for him. You're right he worked hard and was dedicated to his craft or should I say he used his God given talent. Hoping to see you soon.

Hey Tyra I just want to say congrats on your 500th episode I wish I would of been there we all miss you here in LA. Tyra you are such a role model to me and other women in this world. I hope one day I will be able to meet you thats one of my biggest wish to meet you. One day when I can efford it I will go to your show, but for sure I will be there for your 1,000th episode because I know for sure you will make it that far.

Congrats to you on your 500th show. I just think you are the greatest. I hate missing your show. I swear one of these days I am going to the big apple to see you. Unfortunately, right now I am job hunting. Thanks to you, I don't get down on myself. If I do, I always ask " what would Tyra do?" Thanks for being there for all of us women. Congratulations on your 500th TYRA!!! You are an inspiration for me and all young people. Keep doing what you are doing.
But I'm from Los Angeles so I was disappointed that you kinda forgot about your fans in LA because this is the birthplace of your show. There was no recognition whatsoever and I know NYC is awesome because I've been there back in 2000. I wish I could get to see NYC again and see you on your show over there. New York City is very lucky to have you Tyra. But I really miss you back here in LA! Thank you so much for making a difference when you had your show here and I know you will continue to do so much more in NYC. L.A. loves you including me!!

Congrats Tyra! I was a little disappointed at the 500 episode show since the show started in Los Angeles, and we were not giving a chance to celebrate with you. We were the ones holding you down and you showed us no love. It was all about New York the prizes and all. Not so much of a Tyra show fan now.

Hi Tyra,
I just finished watching your show. Amazing! Congratulations!! 500 already...time sure flies when you're having fun.
I really enjoy the show, and I am happy that you tackle issues that teens and young women, especially black women experience.I am from the island of St. Lucia and I am currently finishing my BA. at the University of the West Indies in Barbados. Choosing to give up my job and come to school at this point in my life was a difficult decision, but it was one that I felt was necessary, if I was to give my daughter the kind of life she deserved. Having survived cervical cancer in 2003, as well as giving up everything in a divorce that same year, I knew that I had to make some difficult decisions concerning my future.
I'm happy that I've completed my degree, even under the threat of another cancer scare and other medical problems. At least it gives me and my daughter a better chance in life. I'm going back to being a teacher to teenage girls in my island, as I believe that like you, Tyra, I too can touch young lives. Thank you!

Dear Tyra
I just wanted to THANK YOU for all the amazing contributions you have made (not just in NYC girl!) Even in down home Utah, you have made me laugh, cry and cultivate a great sense of style while watching your show :) I'm so glad there are people like you in the world. Its my dream to be able to travel to New York City and see a taping of your show someday! I've always wanted to go to NYC and see the Statue of Liberty (and maybe shop at Chanel when i'm there! ha ha) But being able to just sit in the audience would be a dream come true. Even so, at least I have TiVo so I can tape you show everyday while I'm at college so I have something to look forward to! You have inspired me to become an amazing person, and maybe someday I'll be able to make such a difference that you will be able to have me on your show. tyra congratulation on your 500 episode you are the type of young lady that all women need in their lives you will be blessed for all the good that you have done for many people keep up the good work and you will be successful for the rest of your life.I have a question for you tyra why don't you have a top model for heavy set women and do it for ages 25and over!
