Transsexual Time Table
Some transgenders want to rush through their transition as quickly as possible, but experts say you’ll be happier if you take it slow. Alaina took nearly three years to complete her transition. If you’d like to learn more about the transition process, visit www.tsroadmap.com.

You people who use religion as your excuse to be bigots are worthless scum. You do no good in furthering society as a whole, you only hold it back. If this condition hasnt happened to you yourself you have no freaking clue what its like, and have no place to judge. I live my life just fine and no one has a clue as to my past, and not only that, theres a distinct possibility that I was born as both and 'corrected' at birth. Even if that wasnt the case if you met me you'd have no clue. To the dumb lady who's scared people will do this to go look at kids in bathrooms, um.... damn you're stupid. Why would any pedophile remove their genitalia to go look at kids? Do you have any idea how painful and complete this surgery is? Only people who are truly female inside will do this.... Not some sicko looking for a thrill. You people who cant get it through your heads that gender is not black and white are the sickos, and you are the people who really need counseling!

I'm really keen to see this programme. I once saw a few minutes of it on 'youtube', but having searched extensively I can no longer find it. I find this woman a real inspiration to me.

When there are people born with both sets of genitals and the parents along with a medical team have to decide which way to go gender wise, why is it some people STILL through the "Dont alter what God made" argument around. Quit living in the dark ages. None of these people do this to shock you, they do it for themselves and the majority of them would rather live their lives in private than suffer the slings and arrows of the righteous in the world. If this is what it takes for this person to live a healthy happy productive life, so be it. Nobody is asking you to change, why do you insist on asking them to change.

Thank you Alaina, for being open to share your testimony on the Tyra show I saw on 3/11/08. As I am also a Post-Op Transsexual, I appreciate your attempt to educate the general public on Transgender folks. Finally we seem to be able to get through to the politicians about attempting to grant us our long deserved human rights. But your appearance on the Tyra show is a strong way to help get the politicians beyond their preconceived fears on the topic of being Transgender.
Also I congradulate you on your engagement. He seems like a wonderful man. May your marriage with him bless you abundantly for the rest of your life.
Love and hugs,
Brenda Jean

Geez...I don't know any transsexual people who are pedophiles...I've only heard of supposedly heteros (normal people to you, Wendy) who are! Transsexual people do not do this for sexual jollies. They do it for peace of mind. They have to put their gender issue on display for everyone to see just to be happy (they do this by transitioning w/o moving to a new location and starting anew.). They go in to the restrooms to do their business and then get out...just like anyone else should do. Teaching kids to beware of the transsexual menace out there is teaching them to watch out for the wrong people. There are transgendered people in all walks of life and professions as well as cultures. Unfortunately, the American culture has learned to hate anything "different" from the "norm", unlike other cultures on earth, which behold the "two-spirited" people as spiritual leaders.

To each their own, but when it comes to me and my children that's a different story. I do not agree with these people being able to change their birth certificates and social security cards and all of a sudden since they had a surgery they can immediately go into the opposite restrooms they were always suppose to go into and watch my innocent children go potty, if they go to jail do they actually get to be in a cell with the oppsite sex and take showers with them. I don't care if they change their names, but htis is quite an invasion of privacy. Soon pedifiles will be getting this surgery so they can sit in walmart bathrooms all day and watch innocent children. Live however you want to live, love whoever you want to love, but you NO WAY

It is absurd to claim that god (who doesn't even exist) does not make mistakes when children are born with serious illnesses. If no mistakes are made, then the diseases cannot exist. Since the diseases do exist, then god must be fallible after all. You can't have this both ways.
The thing to do is to use genetic engineering to ensure that all children are born entirely healthy.
As for gender discomfort: I agree it is physically real, because comparative ethology confirms its existence in every society from pole to pole over the last 20,000 years.
In my own MtF progress, I have been slowly grinding ahead since 1968, and should finish the job somewhen around 2016.

Hannah is a very, very brave girl.
With 3 boys, twins 16 and a 21 year old & being a trans gendered girl myself, I am very aware of the numerous issues she will encounter. I have lived full time, as a girl, for just over a year.
I have been on hormones for the same amount of time, and have undergone a year of laser hair removal. The costs are mounting. They will grow as she progresses.
Before she can even begin hormones, she will need to see a psychotherapist, specializing in gender identity and be diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder in Adults.
Once she has been diagnosed and a certification letter has been issued, she will then need to see a doctor who specializes in endocrinology. This doctor will begin to transform his bodies hormonal registry to that of a genetic female.
She can obtain these hormones without going thru these hoops, however, this is a life altering process,
the body is changing and requires monitoring.
If she wishes to attain a full time life as a female, she will be required to have the proper documentation to present to the government.
The steps I have taken in just this past year totaled nearly $7000.
This is just the beginning tho, the hormones and doctor monitoring will continue.
I recently submitted my photos to a surgeon who specializes in FFS, Female Facial Surgery, his suggested costs for all the refinements, to obtain, a truly female face, will be just short of $35,000.
Breast augmentation will add another $5000.
The financial costs are astounding. The mental costs can be even more.
Every mind has special issues.
Good luck to Hanna.

to the person that said god doesn't make mistakes, and we both agree with that. But stating it's the same thing as judging a deformed child. It's not the same, alaina was a perfect boy, very attractive. God had made him perfect. Even though I'm not judging anyone, but you need to quit trying to blame someone else. You better watch what you ask for.

I am a post-operative transseual woman and had my surgery a few weeks before Alaina. I work for a law enforcement agency in Texas. I was asked by Dr. Bowers' staff if I wanted to be the person to go on the Tyra show. I turned it down because it was a very personal experience that finished my journey to put my mind and body in congruence. I also did not want to bring my family or my agency into the public arena for something so private.
God did not make a mistake when he created me. God does not make mistakes when children are born with life threatening diseases and such! Being transgendered is not a mistake either. He gave me this problem to make me a better person and to help others understand transsexualism. I do this by being a good tax paying worker, citizen, and neighbor, as well as talking about my life to university students.
Researchers believe that transsexualism is the result of excess hormones that are passed from the mother to the fetus in the womb. I don't know what causes it but it is real...and now i feel complete.
I went back to Trinidad a few weeks ago because a girlfriend was having her GENITAL Reassignment Surgery (it is NOT SEX or GENDER Reassignment because we are already the female gender, as seen by YEARS of therapy.
I have seen five different therapists in the last eight years...all had the same conclusion...Gender Identity Disorder...my body did not match my gender! I FINALLY did something about it when I planned and started my transition back in 2006. It was my choice to live...period!
Back to my friend's surgery...her parents went to be with her during the surgery and hospital stay even though they had not met her as their daughter yet. They mentioned that all the transgendered people they met while there, including me, had the same basic story about discomfort with their body...their comment was "there is something there, it is real"...and I agree...it is VERY real.
How about being decent, human beings and leave the judging to God. I KNOW I've done right in his eyes.

It is nearly impossible for those who are born gender identity, sexual orientation and physical genitalia congruent to imagine what life is like being not congruent. This is one of the basic reasons why most individuals have such great difficulty relating those who are born incongruent and these individuals project their basic instincts upon those they encounter. No one gets to choose how we are born, but we can grow to discover who we really are and live our lives true to ourselves. This is one of the primary reasons why gender different individuals and intersex individuals take on the extremely difficult process of transition to being who they really are and who they always should have been and not live their lives based on the expectations of others or interpretation of any religion.

I think that Jase hit right... Why is any surgery ok if this surgery is not ok? When you have a problem, you correct it. God allows us to go through problems so when we do correct them, we will apperciate what we have alot more. I see nothing wrong with these people changing their body to be who they really are. Why do people that always throw God into stuff like this do all the judging.. I'm sure God wouldnt like that either!!

I love the tyra show as well as America's next top model. I do have to say though I am not one 4 this topic; one I came from CA which is very libral state as well as I was. after my mom died and beening homeless with a 2 yr old as well as a new born. I had moved to WA state and found my self in a christan homeless shelter. To say the very less I rediscovered who Jesus really was to me. So now that said I find it very hard to belive the GOD OF THIS WORLD would make a mistake like putting a women in a mans body or man in a womens body. that would be saying GOD is carless and absent minded. I love the tyra show but choise not to finish watching this one and just as it was his right to choise his life out come it was mine to choise to turn it off. Am a writing this as simple stating to each its own. But just did not agree am sorry. I still love tyra and will be tooning in to mine and my girls #1 show Americas next top model

Why do ppl always want to bring God into this. We do not blame him for how we were born, we are simply correcting ourselves. Just like anyone would who was born with a defect. If u have bad eye sight, u get glasses to see better, ppl who get limbs amputated get prostetics. If a baby was born with no legs, u wouldnt say that God wanted him that way so we shouldnt try to correct it as God makes no mistakes. right?

when i see things like this it really makes me sad when i see what kind of world we are living in today when men want to be women and women want to be men its really sad that we look at this as being okay and its not i am a strong believer that god doesnt make mess ups and these people are trying to say they were born this way well god knows what he is doing and if he made you a man than thats what you were ment to be and the same thing for women its he wouldnt put in the wrong body lol that's heartless and God doesnt operate like that he is so sweet and even thought the claim to be in the wrong body and that he doesnt kno what hes doing he still love them!
