Spit It Out Already, Teens Need To Know About Sex
If children don’t learn about sex from their parents, they’re going to get the info from their friends. And that can be a major problem – since it’s usually wrong. The trick to talking to your kids about S-E-X is to start teaching the birds and the bees when children are as young as 6 or 7. Teach them little by little. They won’t be ready for all the details all at once. The more you talk about sex the easier it will be.
Kids with open parents are more likely to come to their parents when they have questions or are considering having sex for the first time. Get over the embarrassment. Hi, I just watched this segment on teen sex just today and I was thinking that sex is not the problem, it's lust. Kids today don't have the knowledge on love and sex, and so they fall into situations like this. Parents need to step up and have the talk with their kids so they will have that knowledge of sex and love.

hey tyra i'm glad that you had that show about us teens need to talk to our parents about sex. after me and my mom watched your show we talk about sex and now i feel like i can talk to my mom about sex anytime.

Dear Tyra:
Today's show about teen sex was amazing. If you'd had thst show when I was 14 I probably would have waited to have sex.
Now I am almost 19 and a mother of a 5 month old daughter. Being a young parent is the most difficult part of my life. Besides the possibility of contracting an STD, these kids could get pregnant. I was fortunate at 14 that I didn't get pregnant because I was one of those kids. I do not think that I can stress enough the difficulties of being a young parent. Your child becomes your life, I know it sounds cliche, but it is the truth. There is almost no YOU time, it is all about the baby.
So Tyra I just wanted to say thank you for doing this show. It gave great insight to many young teens out there. You are an amazing woman making a difference in the world.

This show was an eye opener for me. I have a little girl and I did not realize that you should talk to your children this early. I am just as guilty as most parents in the fact that the thought have talking to her about body parts and sex makes me blush. It is embarrassing for me! After seeing these kids on T.V., I really was shocked at what they said. So misinformed about sex and all of the consequences of sex. I am glad that my daughter is really young because I was naive in thinking that they would learn what they needed to know in school and I would only have fill in the bits and pieces. The only difference between me and some other parents is that I have time to change it and others may not be so lucky. Thank you Tyra for the VERY informative show because it definitely opened up my eyes to a mistake that could dramatically effect my daughter's life. On a side note, I read another comment and someone had said that it could be a bad thing because they may feel they want to do it more when you talk about the pleasure or whatnot. In my opinion, they are going to hear that from their friends anyway. If they do decide that they are ready, they have all the tools and knowledge to protect themselves and make it a safe experience because you talked to them.

Tyra your show is awesome i watch everyday. I just wanted to say that i think it is very important for parents to talk to their kids about sex my parents never did and im a mother of 3 now at 21 and wish my mother at least would have let me know what kids on your show has learned. Parents or kids should not be afraid to discuss this sensitive subject it needs to be discussed! Thank You for being YOU!

i think talking to your kids about sex is a good thing but it can also be abad thing!! letting them know about it can possibly allow them to think they are old enouhg to go and get in the bed with someone. my mom never gave me the talk and i could never picture myself talking to her about my sex life!! im not as open with anyone about my sex life because thats for me to enjoy and no one to know about!! letting people know your now a virgin is like news in a tabloid!! i wouldnt be proud of myself if thats how i made friends or put myself out there!! having sex can couse you to lose alot of your closest friends and cfan leave you with a ruined life!!

i think that this is good! i relly never needed "the talk" but i already know everything from school classes and stuff! i think that parenets should teach their kids mine said they did when i was nine and i said i didnt care and ran off but not all girls are like thats some want to know--or need to know
