Its all just stereotypes, there is no mold or certain characteristics that can determine sexual orientation, but congrats to Tyra it was an incredibly interesting show!!!

I think people are so closed minded when it comes to homosexuals. They claim that since two men can not make a baby then god couldn't have made them that way, well what about people who aren't able to bear children, or who are sterile. I think it is easy to judge others and say they must have chosen to be gay, but unless you are gay you have no idea and since i am not gay i will leave it at that. I think if you are religious that is fine but i am tired of everybody trying to judge everybody else on their religious beliefs. I believe it says somewhere that you are supposed to judge yourself to be the best person you can be not go trying to "convert" others and make them what you want them to be.

I think in general you can tell straight men from gay men, but like the doctor's analogy, not all the time. You can't tell men from women by height. Some men are born short and some women born tall, in the same way with attributes of gay men.

But I believe that having distinctions based on sexuality isn't that controversial unless you believe that having gay characteristics is somehow bad. Otherwise, these are just differences rather than prejudices. It's a prejudice when you feel those attributes makes a person second-class or "less than".

to wes: if god created everything according to the bible, then why are some people born with BOTH sets of genitils? why are some people born with extra body parts or born missing body parts? being gay is not always a choice, and not all homosexuals were molested, and not all people who were molested become homosexuals.

your ambivalence towards the gaydar show was fairly obvious, and rightly so. even if dr lippa is right in correlating gender non-conforming traits to sexual identity, might it be the case that the "feminine gay" becomes that personna because our society is so strongly bi-gendered that we feel forced to choose one set of gender traits or another? and in focusing on the "feminine gay" doesn't that further reify such stereotypes and further box in people, limiting the ways we construct our own identities, and how we allow others to express their identities? btw, i'm definitely glad james is gay--very cute, and articulate as well :)

Hey Tyra! I watched ya show 2day. CRAZY!!! #6 LOOKS SERIOUSLY GOOD. HOOK ME UP ASAP! LOL. Love ya Show. hopefully I'll skip skewl & werk to go.

Hey Tyra!!! Although the topic is controversial, I believe I can take it further. I can tell if a African American man is gay by his left eye. Yes, his left eye. Black gay men's left eye is usually slightly to obviously off centered. Just look at some of your black gay friends. Sometime I use this often to determine if closeted celebs are gay!

God created everything according to the Bible. Being gay is counter productive. It is a choice. You might have some feminen qualities but the choice is still yours. In my opinion I don't want to know what sex you are, but in order for you to be on this earth you came from a male and a female not a homosexual coupling. Until two males produce offspring I cannot believe that being gay can lead to anything but an end to life.

Tyra, I think your show topics are really going down hill. Enough shows about sex, homosexuals, and porn producers. You are also cussing alot on your daytime shows. You are not setting a good example for all of the young women out there looking up to you. Please clean up your shows for the sake of the young women you are influencing. What ever happened to your show counselor Paula White?

hi tyra. i just watched the show on gaydar. i found it very interesting that the doctor based everything on fingers and hair line. but it was good to learned that some of my sterotypes were untrue. i think that i also got confused on the whole metrosexual thing to. but that was really interesting on when the men revealed there sexuality. i was surprise with the outcome. i thought that #6 was really handsome. i think dave was his name. can u see if he is single?thanks

Interesting...kind of..though not all folks are that easily identifiable...least I dont think I am...lets see play hockey,kayak.. bass player in a metal band, crazy mohawk hair with goatee all the way down to my chest, service tech for a pool co...and no..nobody at work has a clue i'm gay..but that maybe because everything about me is controled at work...the people closest to me, know me...the rest of the planet thinks i'm a crazy metal head..but what i'm about isnt science...or fitting on the big pie chart of gaydar, we are as we are made...each is according to his or her gifts...theres no science to us...though I did get #5 but thats just gut feeling...not science... peacelove

I just finished your 'gaydar' show and what a crock. People are who they are. The doctor seemed like a complete amateur up there not being able to specify anything. He just said "on average", well on average does not prove anything! I am a gay male and that doctor made me mad! Anyway of setting me up with #1 James or #4 Matt???

on whether or not a person is born gay...i know some religous people who say it's not possible because it is a sin against nature, but think about this...if a person can be born intersexed (not just male or not just female) or if two human beings can be born joined together and live a full life (abby and brittney hensel) then why couldn't a person be born with the genes for homosexuality? our hormones are a factor in determining our sexuality, and some day the medical world may determine homosexuality as a "birth defect," although i myself wouldn't consider it a defect. all people are different and that is what makes us all beautiful and interesting.

on this show i would have to agree with number one. he stated what if it devolops to finding out if the child is gay in the wound. But what if the child is born and they check the hair line or finger length and think there child is gayoff of the "findings". Are they going to think this through out the childs life? Will they disown the child? This experiement is all wrong, and teaching us to judge people.

I thought it was an interesting show. I've got straight friends who get mistaken for gay and gay friends mistaken for straight so for me it was easy to be able tell the difference without the hair and finger tests but thats not to say those tests werent accurate though cause the Doctor was right. I dont think you can judge someone by appearances and be 100% accurate every time. I have a friend who is very masculin and I had no idea, neither did the rest of our friends, that he was gay till he came out and told us - but maybe we would have known if we'd looked closer at his hands and/or hair pattern ;)

Hi Tyra. I just finished watching the "Gaydar" episode. I thought I would really enjoy it but I didn't. I was extremely disappointed. It made me really angry that someone would stereotype things about gay people. This may sound mean but part of me wanted the doctor to be wrong. He's just stereotyping everything!

Tyra,

Why was this show dedicated to gay males? The science of stereotyping is offensive enough, but why not mix it up a little with some ladies? I mean, gaydar is real, and potentially "scientifically" proven, but most scientific research in general is conducted on males, which is why our society as a whole is, in part, as screwed up as it is. I would have preferred that you, being the empowered woman that you are, would have tried to at least attempt to break down that barrier of patriarchal rule. Next time, remember the ladies. That's all I'm asking.

Hello Tyra.

I saw your show about "under the gaydar" and I am very upset at what I saw, first it started off somewhat offensive. First off your "doctor" seemed like he was trying to say that we are mutants. Then it went from being offensive to a point to where it felt like he was trying to make us a joke. I understand the purpose of the show wa supposed to be informative, but to me everything he said just gives gay bashers something to look for when they get drunk and want and beat down everyone that fits the "scientific knowlege". Wathcing that show just really upset me and I would expect more from a doctor than just a bunch of sterotypes, that makes people think they can guess someones sexual orientation. I am a gay man, but I don't fit all of his sterotypes. I don't walk with my buttcheeks held tight together, I take long strides when I walk, I enjoy horror movies (the blooder the better)I am not your typical gay man. In general that show just offensive, pointless, and upsetting that people are really bying in to this stuff:(

Hi Tyra, this my first time posting i thought the show was very interesting, I also beleive your born gay, and it's not a choice, it's sad to say but you can pretty much pick a gay person out in a crowd, but you can also do that with a straight person too ! take care I enjoyed the show:)

I am watching the show qabout GAYDAR. I am offendedI am a gay man, and my partner is a truck driver. YOU ARE BORn the way you are. The doctor on the show, I think he is gay, no wedding ring, i was watching his mannerism as well.

watz good tyra my aunt iz da cutiest dresser i eva seen i want u to introduce her style in your tv show hit me bck ps her name is candis ledet

Gaydar is science trying to prove what is not genetic, but is developmental. Just as a previous poster indicated that according to the Bible homosexuality is a sin. There is and could be much more discussed and I believe it to be very emotional and non-productive, because it is human nature to defend behavior and justify. However putting this all aside. I stated that homosexuality is developmental, and it has been studied for some time under this premis, which I wish would have or could be given discussion time also on the TYRA Show. FOCUS on the Family is a great resource for those that want to break this behavior. So for people like Sway and the young lady that said she is a lesbian, take a look back in your life and ask yourself "What happened to you?" that subconsciencely you have a deep desire to identify with the sex you are. Molestation is a huge part of this behavior pattern, or a lack of the same sex parent nurturing during the development period of a child. There is a lot of information about sexuality, but the first source that I would recomend using as a primary guide for society is the Bible, then it is up to the individual to be honest and search out and seek help if they choose to live within the will of God. If a person chooses to live outside of the basic guidelines that were given to the people God created in His image to live by, then there is nothing that can be done to help someone that does not want help. But prayer is a start and strong force to begin the change with. I am posting this respectfully to all.

HI TYRA; I WATCH YOUR ALL THE TIME. AND THIS ONE IS A REALLY INTERSTING ONE. I LOVE YOU AND YOUR SHOW.

LOVE YOUR
BIGDADDY
TERRY

hi i watch your show when i can i got to watch some of it today and i thought it so cool when that guy got 6 out of 6 correct out of all the gay or strait guys... and yes i think there is such thing as gaydar.

Hey i watch ur t.v. show all the time but this is one of the most interesting t.v. shows that you have had. I can tell but at the same time they can fool you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tyra. I just watched the gaydar show. I'm a lesbian, so my gaydar is pretty good, with men that is. With women it's completely pathetic. I can never tell unless they are more butch. My girlfriend makes fun of me all the time. That would be an interesting show.

hey Tyra!this is the first time i login to your website and im extremely impressed!Im in South Africa, and im doing my first year @the Cape Peninsula University of technology in Cape Town and Im studying Accountancy. I never ever miss your show.I admire you.genuine.and i think you're awesome!please make time to come to S.A?

All I know is David is HOT!!! I wana know if he's single or taken????

im not even sure if im gay im a woman and the site of another woman turns me on

To elaborate, as I watch this Dr. Lippa I become more angry by the second. He needs to use his "test" on himself, and if we talk "profiling" he matches up very well to the Nazi doctors , in particular Carl Clauberg with a beard. If you don't know what I mean by my two posts, google it!

I thought this episode was interesting. I'd like to see another episode on this subject with women.

i dont think your born gay. I was made gay. when i was young, i was mulested for 3 years, bye my stepfather and an uncle. I dont belive in being gay. My mother showed me in the bible, gay people go to hell. now i forever will live a life alone. doomed to die without love.

Gaydar? So very sadly this "profiling" reminds me of the Nazi Aryan tests performed on children by measuring eyes and heads etc. Scientific my ***.

To whoever that young lady was in the audience i am a lesbian at 24 i came out when i was 14 and i just want to say that you are born gay you definently wouldnt understand because your not gay. Also to the other comment that you can tell by looks that someone is gay read "on the down low" because you obviously are clueless!!!

i think a gaydar is so stupid you can't walk up someone or look at someone and go ''they're gay'' that's just stupid

Tyra....i just guessed every guy's sexual orientation correctly as well as the doc's...its obvious...just observe the walk!! I've never known a gay man to take long strides when walking...they all walk with their butt cheeks held tight and little baby steps!! haahah...very interesting!!~ ALL of the gay ones did~~

hi tyra how are you to day ihope to see you on tv again although iam nat good at englishhhhhhhhhhh but iam freak with you ihope to get your msn
