Repulsive Manners Are Such A Turn-off

Gassy melissa Ladies, let’s get this straight. Burping is not cute! Neither is yelling at your waitress or yakking on your cell phone at the dinner table. It’s time to be socially ambitious and knock some manners into that rude friend of yours.

Here are some tips on acting like a lady in public:

- When you go out to dinner with a large group, decide how you’re going to split the bill ahead of time. Your friend won’t be your friend anymore if she gets stuck paying for your multiple martinis.
- Put your cell phone away. If you’re expecting an important phone call, tell your friends ahead of time. Then put the phone on vibrate and stick it in your pocket.
Keep your hook-ups in the bedroom. No one wants to see you making-out on the street.
- Never ask a lady if she’s pregnant. If you forget and make a mistake, change the subject as fast as possible.
- Re-gifting is always a bad idea. What makes you think someone else wants something you didn’t think was good enough for you?

What’s your manners related pet peeve? Tell us about your friends and their social snafus. We’ll try not to judge.

Hmm...I don't think women should abide by the social stigma that we have to be these classy, up-tight creatures all the time. Why sugar-coat and sweeten things? Be yourself. If your friends don't like your behaviour, make some friends that value your friendship, not your behaviours.
I guess my pet-peeve is women who are stuck in the 1950s.

This is SAMMY im your biggest fan i watch your show on oxygen every night my favorite episode was the one where u became a dude. It was my favorite because im a dude.
This is Alayna i love your show.Sammy is my big brother. My favorite episodes was the racial episode and the conjoined twins episode. They were my favorite because they are both very strong matters. We typed this on here because we are your biggest fans. The racist episode was messed up.That guy said you should be in africa but we dont want you to go to africa.Your show is tooooooooooooooo cool!!!

This show was such a surprising and informative
show! This is just another
topic that is bringing people's attention about
being polite and having
table manners when they are
around guess like their friends or partners. Tyra
you were such a talented
impersonator as a waitress.
You are so good with the
foreign accent. It sounded
like you were speaking with
a French accent and fluent
english. I still would like
to hear you speak and portray the japanese accent
on a show in the future! I still have not done any show
ideas that I have requested
in my past comments! Please
consider it soon! I love your show performances and
keep up it!

Tyra.. You thought those people on your show where bad... my sister licks every plate, popcorn bag, and yogart cup CLEAN!! Shes only 12 but still, that is just disgusting!!

Hey Tyra,

I just have a comment about Juliette. Not only are her manners towards customer service appalling, I have one question...who decided the world owed her something? Serving as a waitress for almost two years, I understand that it's not an easy job. To not tip someone for their services rendered is a sign of ignorance. Personally, I think that she should serve as a waitress herself. There is an idea for your next topic Tyra. People who are unable to put themselves in the shoes of others mentally, should be the ones to spend a day in the shoes of others...literally.

Thanks!

I believe that the most disturbing thing is that all these "adults" are suppose to be examples for our younger people. My problem? People of mature age complaining about how disrespectful, rude & generally unmannered the "kids" of today are. Where do they think these children learn their behavior? Most all of us learned this stuff back in grade K. Whoopie G said in an interview about her latest children's book that her hope was that the parents reading the story to their children would remember their manners as well. (Not an axact quote but pretty darn close!)

Hey Tyra,

Well i going to be honest. I'm a burp person, i do burp a lot when i hanging out with the boys. Its just a habit, and they are cool with it. Well like a few would be like "ew". But its like sexes because guys could do it and girls can. So i'm happy that when i saw the show, ya taught the guys as well. That's great! Well i went to modeling school when i was younger, they taught us to eat well mannered. Its been a while, so i will learn in the future. LOL

Hi Tyra,
One of my favourite resturants is Swiss Chalet; I love the sauce! So my friends and I were going there for my 17th birthday, and it was crazy. One of my friends is kind of like one of your guests (I forgot her name) and she was rude to the waitor when he asked what she ordered again (because he didn't hear her), and when she got her food she found hair in it. Unfortunatly for her she was already finished! I was pretty unmannered (is that a word) myself; I drank the rest of the sauce with a straw. What? I did say I loved the sauce.

It seems to me that openly bashing austistic people is using worse "manners" than burping.

My comment is based on the lady with customer service issues. we won't get started on her...all i can say is think golden rule ! what really is on my mind is people who come into retail stores with there cell phone stuck to there ear.as a sales person I ask how can I assist you? and the person keeps talking and walking and shows you the hand....sooo rude.then go to additude mode when you don't dash over to them when they get finished with there call.I just don't get it.

Hi Tyra its me your biggest fan Yolanda, and I just want to say that while I was watching your show (which I do everyday with my son, I love to muli-task) and during the scene with the gross gassy lady I was looking through facebook to see if you were on there but when I typed in your name all these different profiles popped up and at first I got excited cause I figured I'd be able to chat with other women who love you as much as I do but then I noticed some of the titles and this is going to sound stupid but I actually started to cry because they were simply put small minded little haterz that are mad because a beautiful black women is doing something for herself and keeping it real while they have nothing better to do than sit on their butts and play on the computer. While I am very insecure about my body I just want to let you know that your so what campaigne is very inspiring (even though I'll never say so what to my body) and your a beautiful and wonderful person. (LOL I still watch your movie with Lindsay Lohan "Life Size") From your biggest fan Yolanda Terrell of Michigan

It absolutely drives me nuts the way one of my friends chews!! I have always had a pet peeve about people and the ways that they chew! Now, I come to be around a friend who chews like a cow..you see the whole mutilation of the cow in her mouth and on top of that you hear the mutilation of the cow!! It drives me nuts..I have told her a million tyms but she finds it funny!
My sister has the other pet peeve of mine...she picks at her nose EVERYWHERE we may be!! REstaurants, clubs, get togethers, etc..you name it she is picking at it like her life depends on it and farting out in public is a must do for her...I may not be top notch perfect with ALL my manners but I am pretty close and I have to say my biggest pet peeves all come back to lack of manners..rudeness is what describes lack of manners to me!!

I'm still watching this episode and I can't believe some of the things that your guests are doing. I must admit that I have done some of the things that your guests have done, but never to the extent that they have done it. I have a question though. In high school when I was sitting in my psychology class someone might sneeze and my teacher told us that it was wrong for us to say "God Bless You" so is actually wrong to do that? I always thought that it was just basic manners to say that after someone sneezes.

Tyra i am 22 and my husband is 20 years old we fart and use the bathroom talking to each other every now and then i don't think it's rude i think the way you go about it is. We get along just fine and i fart alot especially since i am pregnant we are very comforatable are very comfortable around each other. No one should hold their farts because i learned a long time ago that holding your farts can really hurt your stomach GAS HURTS WHEN YOU GET BACKED UP so i'm going to continue to fart. Love Alisha McCravy

OMG....Tyra, I wasn't sure that I could watch this episode (it's still on..and i'm still watching). Your guests are/were so nasty. I can't believe they actually act like that in public. I'm glad that you are there to help them.

My question is Jesse latino? Because my husband is the same way and he is latino. I also know many latino men who act the same way as Jesse. The problem now is that we have two boys, age 6 and 3, and my husband is teaching them that this behavior is ok and/or funny. Especially the farting part and closing the windows of the car and that this is something funny. I have told him millions of times this is not funny, not to me or anyone else, but he seems to think so and I dont see him ever stopping.

My biggest pet peeve is hearing people chew their food. My roommate last year in school was horrible about it and nothing you could say or do would make her change. YUCK! It's like "do unto others as you would to yourself."

i hate when someone blows their nose at the table in a resteraunt

I have a friend...my bestfriend actually who is very rude. She yells at people who anger her in public. She knowingly cusses like a sailor and says she doesn't care what people say about her. Its quite annoying because I wanna take her to some really nice places but I get embarrassed. Its not only her attitude but how unclassy she dresses. Its quite sad because she is very intelligent and in the future no one will take her serious because of these things.
