Hi Tyra!

This is a perfect tip for college students or even those who are just moving into a new place and need temporary furniture. My mom taught me that you can use milk crates for almost anything. You can just put one up on its side and toss a sheet over it and make it a night stand or stack a couple up on top of each other and make a bookcase or even a little tv tray. And to get them all you have to to is go behind a store and grab them or even go inside and ask if they have any because they usually throw them away!

Hey Tyra, I just finished watching one of your shows where you crowned the princess of cheap! I just wanted to let you know, there is a store called plato's closet, I can get several new outfits there every week! The clothes there are either VERY gently used, or new. I got a pair of Ambercrombie jeans for $12 with the tag still on them! They were original $90! You can take clothes there, that you are either tired of, they dont fit, whatever! And walk out with cash or new outifts! You can also go there, and get clothes for way cheap! The most expensive thing I bought there was a pair of Jeans for $13! They have any size, so it's not just for hourglass shaped girls! Their shirts get up to $6 maximum! This is a great place to go, and recently I've gone every other weekend and practically goten a whole new wardrobe. Then, when I need some cash for the movies, I can take in an old shirt or something! They dont just take clothes either! Things for your room like lava lamps and picture frames, jewlry, handbags, anything trendy! Their website is platoscloset.com!

I use those discs you get from aol and other companys and make picture frames

hi tyra,

with the garlic smell on your hands and you used the toothpaste to get rid of the smell. there is another way. after you cut up the garlic or onion just rub your hands on your stainless steel sink. there is something in the steel that gets rid of the smell.. try it...

Hi Tyra!

I just want you to know that i enjoy all your shows. i never thought that as a man i'd be so addicted to talk shows esp. yours. what ever the papers say about you, i want you to know that we love you as you are. for me that's African beauty at it's best. wish you well.

PS.

Tyra,
Let me start out by saying I love your show and I watch as much as I can! Today's episode however kind of dissapointed me. You named the girl who flips clothes from the Goodwill the "princess of cheap". I really don't think you should've had her come on your show because some people really need to buy clothes for cheap at Goodwill, and this woman did it to go out for drinks. Many less fortunate people can only afford clothing at 50 cents a pound. I'm dissapointed that you had this woman come on and called her smart for what she does and gave that idea to new people. I feel like that woman was being honored for being a bad person.

Tyra I think I could give you a good run for your tight penny(heee heee)what I need to know is how to donate to the Tzone other then money.I have a lot of skills and talents, being cheap is only 1 of them, would love to offer some help.I live in Kansas City,Mo.If there's anything from here.
God bless,
Pam(hardworking_ct@yahoo.com)

I can across the coolest website, www.blingyourself.com. They rent men & women designer jewelry, watches & accessories for as little as $4 a day. You don’t have to become a member & there is no time limit. My boyfriend& I signed up as a member because you earn points toward free bling! The other interesting thing they do is you can rent certain pieces where all of the fees are given to the IRC charity that helps victims in Darfur. It is the charity that George Clooney supports. I look good & feel good at the same time!

Hey Tyra, well i have money to go out an buy anti-frizz but sometimes i don't have enough time to go out and buy it. so what i do is when i'm out of the shower i leave some conditioner in my hair and i blow dry it with a thin towel wrapped over it. then i take off the towel and let it dry itself after brushing it a few times. or i blow dry it. and my hair gets kinda used to humidity in the air so it does not frizz. saves money and your hair!

I saw the show, and heard you ask for tips if we have them. I'd like to share one of mine.

If you live near the Myrtle Beach, SC area (or just happen to visit there!) I know of a boutique on the square that sells Chanel, Coach, Louis Vuitton, and many other high-end style knockoffs. They have sunglasses, purses, and jewelry that look like the exact same thing; and they don't cost any more than accessories at your local discount store. However, it's also a henna tattoo shop, so that's what they advertise as on the sign outside.
If you're into the haute couture scene, this is the best way to live large without blowing your budget!

Hi Tyra. This was a very helpful show and had so many great tips, but I think I have a one more tip for you. What I always try to do, and find very helpful is to look for outlet stores when I go on vacation with my family. Since there are no outlets near me, I check online for any that may be in the area of our vacation spot. This is a great way to save money on nice things. I have bought things at gap, hollister, abercrombie, j.crew, banana republic, and many others. If anyone is thinking of going, choose a time in which not many people are there because those places can get very crowded, everyone wants to save! Not only are things lower in price but they are also the newest to come out, so it's much easier to be ahead of my local stores. I hope that this tip will help. Thanks for your time.

Hi Tyra, good day. My name is Ete Kwegang and i am from West Africa, Cameroon. I was born on July/24/1989. I came to America on dec/4/05. Ever since i was young, i had dreams of becoming a model. I never knew how i could accomplish my dreams being that young and thinking a little further. When i came to America and started watching your show "ANTM", i then knew, with determination i could draw one step closer to my passion. I look up to you. You weren't really skinny but you made it to the top and i know that was a break through for many people especially me. I am almost 150lbs which i believe is over weight trying to be a model. This has brought my spirit down, that maybe i wont get to the place where i long for because of my inner worries. I have tried many ways to loose weight but my weight fluctuates. When i watch your Tyra show and you talk about having dipples in your butt, i am very surprise because i have it too. i also fear because of that. i know when u started your career, you were skinny then and you didn't have any dipples i believe. Pls Miss Tyra, i need your help. How do i loose weight?, how do i get that your kind of courage?, and please, how do i get my way into modeling business?. Please Tyra i cry writing this mail. I really want to be a model. Please help me out, you are the only one i can look after in this business. I have watched every second of you in this career, how you strugled before going that far in modeling. You respect yourself which is what most yount womem celebrities lack and i admire the way you carry your mom high. May God keep blessing you sincerely from my heart. Please reply my mail back. Thanks for understanging

First, I want to say I love your talk show and America's Next Top Model. I was just watching today's episode about clearing out clutter, and I have a cheap tip for you! You know when you have really frizzy hair after pulling on a sweater or using the hairdryer? And you don't want to buy those expensive sprays? Use a dryer sheet! I keep one in my purse, and just run it along my hair when static attacks. Plus, it makes your handbag smell great! I hope this tip is useful!

Of course it is easier said than done being frugal with money and living it up at the same time. But money saved in the bank is indirectly settinging yourself up for living it up. Its your life crutch for those rainy days ahead when you will appreciate it. But there is no need to get caught up in the undertow of the rat race. I say there is always another day to treat yourself. You have to realise that the fashions are always changing from year to year.So why not live it up next year when last year becomes old hat. its really all in the mind anyway. So I say plan towards those moments like you would do with other aspects of your life.

My philosophy is "need not want not". Be aware of the media and get familiar as to how it works so as not to fall into it's money traps. Throw out anything you do not really need and keep it simple. Less is more a a lot of the time. And chose small quality items over lots of cheap and nasty items. Watch out for dust collectors too and buy for functionality over ornamental value. Eat less too as, we tend to overeat without realising it.

HEY TYRA!
I KNOW THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LIVIN LARGE, HOWEVER I LOVED YOUR HAIR IN THAT EPISODE BUT ANYWAY, MY SISTER IS THE GIRL YOU MET IN NEW YORK ABOUT A WEEK AGO, SHE IS THE ONE WHO GOT YOUR AUTOGRAPH FOR ME ON A PEICE OF COLORING BOOK PAPER, THAT IS ALL SHE HAD. HA. BUT IT WORKED FOR ME JUST KNOWING THE FACT THAT I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH. I WAS SO MAD AT HER CUASE SHE GOT TO MEET YOU, IT HAS BEEN A LIFELONG DREAM OF MINE TO MEET YOU AND I KONW THAT ONE DAY IT WILL HAPPEND. SO THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SIGN THE COLORING BOOK PAPER FOR ME.....I WILL CHERISH IT FOREVER! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND IT WOULD BE AN HONOR TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU IF YOU COULD EVER FIND THE TIEM TOO. MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS damien_reinhardt@yahoo.comTTHANKS AGIAN!
LOVE DAMIEN

PS: I WENT TO THE BEACH FOR THE 4TH AND I GOT A STARFISH AND I AM SURE YOU CAN GUESS WHAT I NAMED IT, NO OTHER THAN TYRA!

PPS: I AM OBSESSED!!

Watched your show about overspending and frankly, I don't think either of those girls(Kimberly or Vasilea)learned a thing. A day is not long enough to show how an average person lives. They should have been given a week. THEN they might have learned something(but I wouldn't bet my bank account on that one). A day only showed them a fraction of what we go through on a weekly basis. After watching those two, I'm glad I'm not rich and didn't have the ability to spoil my children rotten. I couldn't see any of my children turning out like those two.

Hi Tyra....my tip for Livin' Large is the following -
Everyone has a cotton standard size pillow protector that is used for bed pillows and has a zipper on the end to close. For my fine washables, I just pop them into the pillow protector, zip, toss it into the washing machine and it gets clean while protecting your delicates! It's fantastic!

Hello Tyra,

I am doing good at the moment. I have just come from reading one book, but it was not about finance. It was just about literature. As I want to be a poet in the future so I read a collection of poems by an African writer. Surprisingly or not it seems, the writer's style was quite similar to my own style; I felt good to know that I have a similar writing style to one of Africa's major writers.

Other than that, I am feeling beat and I think I am going to go home and take a break. I have some money right now, but I am spending it on internet browsing like hot cakes, I need to really stick to this tips on living large on small change.

On another note, be cool and keep up the good work.

Love

Paul

Hi Tyra...I loved your show for "Tips for Livin’ Large on Small Change". I really wish we could get together and talk about how we can help the distribution of financial services to the tens of millions of families that for far too long have been under served. I'm doing my part by helping one family at a time. If anyone out there in Southern California wants a free Financial Analysis, I would be honored to help you out. You know...some company's out there would charge $200 to $1500 or even more to have one done.
You can contact me via email: erbsantos@gmail.com

Take Care & God Bless

Hey Tyra love every thing youv'e been up to, words can't really describe it... just, girl you're doing your thing. I have a tip to save some money on our water bill which is always Great, but also this one CONSERVES water too! I don't know how you guy are down in So Cal but up her Nor Cal we are in a bit of a drought. Anyway the TIP IS. We have an empty plastic water bottle we have used and are going to discard vie trash or RECYCLE hopefully people. Well one more use for it. The 20 o.z size is perfect. Fill it with sand, gravel, pebbles, aquarium rocks whatever you have access to thats also free nothing fancy but no liquids. Make on bottle for each toilet in your house. Yes TOILET. These are for the Toilet Tank. Armed with your bottle anchors man the battle station in the first bathroom. Lift the Tank Lid (where the clean water is). Place your bottle on the bottom of the Tank. By adding the mass we raise the water level. when we flush the space is now reduced. The water will fill soon topping of the valve to shut off early saving 20 oz. per flush. 20oz. of water adds up to gallons and gallons of water at the end of the month. Saving water and $$$$$$$$ Now completely off the subject I am walking in the 2007 San Francisco A.I.D.S walk on July 15th, 2007 and I would love to take this time to list my personal website for the cause and ask the Tyra viewers and fellow fans take a second and visit the site and Really guys and dollar you can spare, it goes so far for so much good that we need to fight this virus. http://aidswalksanfrancisco2007.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=227376&supid=180325042

It is all about shopping at Nordstroms Rack/ OFF of saks fifth avenue/neimun marcus last call..
or big sales like semi annual at nordstroms..you can find such great brands at these stores for cheap and most are still at the regular stores. Ive gotten great 7 jeans/gucci glasses coach bags for half or more of the price :)

Tyra banks had a segment on her talk show about renting wedding gowns (Vera Wang) for $100 plus. Also about borrow bling bling. Can this information please be emailed to me. I am planning my wedding for January 26, 2007.

street market produce is cheap and healthy, carry your spending $ in a big bill since its easier to nickel and dime your dollars aways.

Recycle cans and bottles! Recycling centre near me pays $1.65 a pound. Every time I go to a party I take home the empty cans which my friend who is throwing the party likes since I am getting rid of them.

Please tell me you're NOT moving to NY permanently!

Thanks for being who you are and inspiring so many! Even though I'm as old as your mama, I tivo your show and watch daily! Maybe your mama could get a show for us "OLDIES."

Hello Tyra,

Yeah, I don't shop much because I do not have much money to spend. But I always save and when I shop I like to do it big for myself.

The thing with me is that I do not like doing things for myself, I think this is because I am a natural born leader and thus I have this instinct in me to take care of other people's needs before I take care of my own. I need to learn to take care of my own needs first then take care of other people's needs.

Like tonight, because I love dancing, I would like to go out to the dance club, but I am short of cash, so I have asked my brother for some change to see if I could go out tonight. Pray that I get some cash so that I may go out and relax and enjoy myself a little.

Other than that, I plan on spending as little money as possible when I go out, although I do not have a clear way of how I am going to live large on small change. But I am going to try my best to enjoy the music and maybe drink some water instead of buying any drinks. I hope that you are going to be there with me in spirit.

I really enjoy dancing and I have no idea how I am going to do it with the little cash flow that I have. Since when I go out I like to do it big, thus I like to have as much cash as possible. I also like going out when I am with my fellow friends and sometimes that is not possible because sometimes we are all in a bind as far as cash is concerned. Doesn't it feel good when you go out to have a good time and you are with your friends, money problems aside. But ofcourse money makes it more fun, because then you can buy as many drinks as possible and make merry.

Maybe, I am going to ask some of my friends to put in some cash flow.

Other than that, lot's of love from me, Paul

i loved the show on how to live large on small change. i love to go to the local salvation army store. sometimes i can find things that still have tags on them. i love to go there to get shoes, jeans, clothes and purses, i love purses. i have even found some designer name purses for $2.00 and that just makes my day and i can change purses out as often as i want. i also love to clip coupons and you can save alot on make-up and other beauty products if you just watch the local sales papers and see when it goes on sale and then use your coupon and its even cheaper. i also love to get the buy one get one free coupons for restaurants and then you and a friend can have lunch or dinner out and split the check and its very affordable and fun.
i have even recently found a good deal on sports hoodies at the salvation army store and they still had tags on them so i bought several to put up for x-mas gifts and they were only $1.00 each.

Tyra I have a few cheap tricks of my own. My husband and I are broke and working on our savings. but that doesn't stop us from having a good time.
One tip for a quick romantic boost to a regular dinner in. My husband and I spend 4 dollars and turn off the lights. One of us goes to the 99 cents store, gets a pack of tea light candles, some sparlking cider and some cute colored wine glasses. We don't drink but they also sell wine.

If we want pizza, we get them for 5 dollars- most of the big places have a special on large one toppings if you come to pick them up. They also sell salad mixes at the 99 cents store. (which is on the way home from the pizza place) Take out for 2 6 dollars annd we have some for lunch the next day

who said skating at the beach on saturday morning isn't a great date?

this is my personal favorite but I go to the gym to watch cable. As long as I keep pedaling, the sound countinues.

how's that for cheap?

I was just watching the show about how to save money and still live large and I have a couple of tips :]

... one of my favorite ways to save money is by using hydrogen peroxide. You can get this stuff almost anywhere for about a dollar (but make sure its only 3% hydrogen peroxide) and it is soo useful. I mostly use it on my hair for natural highlites. I have dark brown hair and I take strands of my hair spritz(using an old spray bottle from used up body splash) some hydrogen peroxide on it and comb through it leaving it to dry. You can do it a couple of times to get a lighter result. The highlites look so natural and look like they were done at a salon. I aslo use hydrogen peroxide as teeth whitener by mixing equal amounts of hydrogen peroxide and water and dipping my tooth brush in the solution and using it to brush my teeth. Hydrogen peroxide is also useful as a sanitizer for countertops, hair brushes etc. (p.s. hydrogen peroxide may cause white spots on your skin but it goes away in a couple of mins. and is completely harmless.)I love hydrogen peroxide and always have a big bottle of it lying around.

Hope you guys like my tips ... comment back to let me know what you think and if you tried it.

I have found a way to save over 50% of my utility bill and guess what--it all started from my "Going Green" efforts. If you are trying to get some extra cash every month, start by unplugging EVERYTHING every night, and then unplug anything you aren't using during the day.
Also, when you can, replace your lightbulbs with CFL Energy Savers. Just turning things off will not work--you have to actually UNPLUG everything (except major appliances). We even keep the microwave unplugged unless we are using it. The worst is computers. They consume more energy than most anything else.
My husband thought I was crazy at first. He thought is was all a waste of timel.
But the first month I saved over 60% on my bill! He immediately apologized and joined forces with me when he saw the change. The second month was only around 45% savings because we needed to use the C/A more. Also, keep your thermostat as high as you can stand it and try using fans to circulate the air instead.
With these tips, not only will you have extra money each month, you will be doing the Earth a favor!!!

hey, guys, I don't have a job and i hate asking my parents for money, but according to friends, i have enough clothes to last me a lifetime. I go shopping practically every week and i never buy an item of clothing that isn't designer or name brand. Alot of my clothes are even top notch designers, theres no secret you just have to be patient and wait for your stuff to go on sale. If you live in New York . swear by century 21 department stores. (for you west coast people, it's like tj maxx, but better ) Also, shop at outlets, and do your research if you are planning to buy something expensive. ie: electronics. When it comes to clothes, never judge a store. Tou can go to gucci and still find stuff on sale! I'm a freak when it comes to clothing, i always want the best. I care more about the quality than how much im paying. If, its quality you are looking for, then dont care so much about the price, but how much you are saving. To me, anything over 40 percent off retail is a great deal.

heyy TYRA!!
im a HUGE fan of urs!
i recently got my first job && need some advice on how to save my money and buy nice things without going broke all the time!
i misses tha show today because i had to go out today sorry =(

Hey Tyra,
I really like your show. I am a "dollar tree" and "only a buck store" queen. I love these stores!!
One way that I save on clothes, is that when I buy an item I think about what I already have in my closet that will match it. This way I am adding to my collection instead of having to buy a whole new outfit. I love mixing and matching clothes. It lets me be creative, and my own personal style can be seen. Also, I had 2 pair of black dress pants that were the same, so I saved money by having one of the black dress pants(that I wear to work) made into a pair of capris. My mother is a great seamstress. I wear them with a cute pair of shoes, and now I have a whole new wardrobe. Thanks for all that you do on your show. Have a Great life. May God Bless You!!!

The young lady that is 50,000 in debt asked if there is a program similar to AA for her spending addiction. There is - Debtors Anonymous. The website is socalda.org for Los Angeles area.

for my wedding I would like to rent a dress from livin'large but I live in Ottawa Canada are there any up here?

Dear Tyra
My lifestyle changed dramatically in the last few years. My old life (in Canada) I had lots of money ,but money is not everything and I left for Kentucky and left behind an unhappy ( no kids) marriage of 14 years.
I have learned how to live well with so much less money. I have always belived in owing your own home ( I live on a tiny farm but in a very affluent neighbourhood,I got very lucky on the deal) If you can afford to buy it is always, always better. If things get bad you can always sell. But if things get better for you you have something to show for it, if not you can sell and with luck have some profit. The last 10 to 15 years homeonwership for low tto middle income families has become much easier, but I think that many people are scared but if can pay rent you can likely afford a modest home.
As for saving money here is what I do.
The dollar stores in the States are just great. I buy holiday stuff, cards, wrapping, things that you will buy at some point, but I shop after the holiday. -I bought from a dollar store this past January $145.00 of Christmas things for only $37.00! I will have small gitfs etc. for years! And remember the retail price of these items are much, much higher at a regular retail outfit.
I also have started to do much of my food shopping at a discount food store. In the past few years they seem to have gotten much better( mine in town, most canned things, beans etc. for 39 cents.)
And the best tip that I have found is Goodwill! We have a very, very upscale clothing store in my small town and that have wealty people from all across the country visting(lots at Kentucky Derby time.) So after each season they donate the cloths with the price tags all to a trift shop and Goodwill! I got about a $1200.00 of great cloths for about $90.00 (some as gifts that made my friends very happy!) I get most of everyday cloths there as well. I work from home and really just dress for comfort- shorts between 50 cents and $2.00, tees for $1.50 to $3.00. The thing about it is so great now that I have to watch my money, it's really kind of fun to come home with great stuff for so little! I am not really a shopper ( hate malls!) But sometimes you need cloths, gifts and of course food. When I come home with 2 or 3 bags for $10.00 or $15.00 it's great! My sister who was a single mom always had her sons very will dressed by just going to thrift stores.
One other thing if you have a simple hair do (blunt, etc) get a hair cut from a discount hairsalon twice a year and do the trims yourself or get your spouce or friend to do the back and you can style the front, this is so easy, and the discount chains really are good. The one thing that I must spend money on is shoes ( I have a very bad ankle and other feet problems) so when I discovered my "Modellistas" my work shoes on ebay for about 75% less than their retail value (new in box) oh what a happy day!
Write a list for one week on what you spend, you might be surprised at what most people can spend in coffee, fast food etc. Things are on the upswing for myself and my new husband but I still make his lunch everyday ( his co-workers all professonal women and men) are often envious of his lunches! And they are healther. I iron all his shirts and pants and enjoy doing it. I set up my little tv and iron about every two weeks, this really saves alot on cash! Ladies or gents if you have a system it's really not that bad!
Cheers, happy savings and to those of you that are really having money problems it can get better and good luck, Tilka

i really like your show, you deal with issues i wonder about and give me tips about beauty and shopping, and i love shopping so learning how to lower wat i buy helps a lot.

Hi Tyra-
First of all I love your show! I am always changing my schedule so that I don't miss it.

I am getting married in 2009 and we are planning on paying for the wedding ourselves. I have specific and expensive taste, but a very limited budget. I hate to think that I wont be able to afford the wedding I want. I live in Iowa and I would love some tips. Anything would help.
Thanks Tyra!!

Hey Tyra,
I found this website that has shoes for under $30.00 which is a huge deal! They also have jewelry, clothes, purses, etc. Just go to www.gojane.com and start shopping!!!

I am the princess of cheap. I never buy clothes at full price. As soon as I walk in a store I head straight to the clearance racks. I refuse to pay over $20 for a piece of clothing. You can also always find great deals at The Dollar Store. And the generic version of food in the grocery store tastes just like the name brand, especially the cereal. I trade clothes and jewelry with my boyfriends sister. And I make my jewelry if I can. Paying full price these days is just crazy.

I love purses but I am a college student with a very tight budget. Marshall's and TJ Maxx are amazing. You can get designer purses for like a tenth of the retail price. Also, Freecycle.com is good when in need of furniture or random items. It is where people in your town post items they no longer have room for and anyone can just go pick it up.

Hey Tyra,
First of all I wanted to say I love the show. But today's show kind of threw me off. It was the one livin large. It is in regards to Tiffany. Your guest had informed her that all she has to do is call her credit card companies and ask. I am a credit counselr and I talk to these kind of people everyday and to be 100% honest it's really not that easy. A lot of the times creditors will not help if your current and if so those hardships only last between 3 months to a year. And after that then what? And she had also stated that she can negotiate the debt. That's called a settlement and can affect the report and not in a good way. But I just wanted to say there are more options available that wasn't talked about....Love ya Tyra...

Hey Tyra,

I love your show! I have been a shopaholic every since High School. Of course there was times when I had to cut back on shopping because of lunch money and My senior year rolled around. When I am at the mall and I see something that I want I just have to have it even when it is my last dollar. Then I be feeling bad afterwards but then I feel good because I bought something I want. But now I have come down because because I have bills to pay. Now I look for sales such as 50 percent off! These sales help a lot.

hi tyra my mom needs a make over she works every day at a day care and when she comes home she tier we want to let her know we love her and to feel comfortable.

Tyra, your a girl after my heart. Im a 40 yr old single mother of a 14yr old son, on disability. money is tight. (so tight my butt cheeks squeeks when i walk!) haha
I love finding ways to save the almighty buck. for instance: squeezing the toilet paper roll befor hanging it up. this causes it to "bump" when it rolls when you pull it for use. I usualy buy the double roll that equals 24 rolls in a month. I now have 4 of the double rolls at the end of the month. squeezing prevents the roll from spinning and giving you more than you really need.
I use used dryer sheets to dust, to use in front of filters for air cleaners. It keeps the filter lasting longer from the larger particals get caught first. espesialy if you havelots of dust in the air.I also put one or more in the back side of my fans so It will catch some dust from the blowing fan.
Air conditioner to expensive or dont have one? put a bowl of Ice or your frozen bottle of water in front of the fan. as it melts and cools you and you get the water you need.
A tip for your family to drink more water and not other things, (besides not buying them,) put a gallon of water in the front of the fridge, in front of other things. This makes them have to move the water in order to get at otherstuff. just your little reminder to them and you that we all need more water daily.
To save realy a lot of money when you go out: make yourself look around your house.look at what you have. not is what is missing. tell yourself what do i need, even at a good price, will it enhance our life, will it be a complement or cludder. If you look at what you have you will see you have what really makes you happy already. It would or you wouldn't have it now. If not Think back of the time you got the things you have. Why do we always have to have more? more is just that, more. you only use your favorite stuff now anyway. check your closet, the back first, not just the ones you wear. ck the plastic bowl/container, drawers/ the small apliance/ junk drawer/ bathroom stuff/ realy look at what is there if it is important you use it. if not dump it.
make the rule, if it comes in something must go out.Food is simple, goes in comes out. Make your house like your stomach. You will either be in fashion and poor or humble and comfortable.
Also tyra I am an inventor. But I dont know how to get it going. My Ideas are great but how does one get started.Who would invest in my ideas.??
also Iam an artist. after many years of creating my family has wncouraged my selling my art. It has been positive experiance. My website explaines my unique way of selling my stuff. I am not in this life for the riches. My riches are from the heart.you'l see if you go there. dlboriginals@mysite. com or im in myspace.com

My dream is to have a studio. Like when people go to the gym. They try the variety of things and find what they like. So should be the arts. Have a membership, so a person can try something like oil painting without having to buy all the supplies to start up (could cost around $50.00 just for the basics) only to find out they dont realy like it. and give up on art alltogether. My studio could have many different mediums. drawinw/pencil, color, charcoal, pastels, paint, acrilic, water color. Even other things : making playhouses from popcicle sticks.Flower making from coffee filters!!!

Any one can try any thing they can dream of, any age ability or disability. Iwouldent be the only one to encourage ones in the arts. There would be a library/ videos, how to books, local artist rent a room to teach there passion. have a video room so ones can follow after the video teachers .e.i. Bob Ross, Donna Dooberry. At there speed. at there convinence. And of course I could have all the supplies i could want at my disposal!!! ; )
I could have my apartment above so I wouldnt have to go far to enjoy my love.
It could earn revinues in many ways, other than just having people in memberships. Also I cant do the money/ buisness stuff, and be at this responsablitys as a job. I have many health issues, some life thretning at times, or just empared at other times.
I want to teach others, not like in a daycare type setting, or like traditional art classes. At the speed and convience of others.
anyway I have many great ideas, I dont even want the money. Ijust want to have the recorces to dream and do them. please visit my sites, see my attitude about art. Thanx for your time listining to me. It is nice to see real people behind the celebrity.

Continue success, but mostly success in your heart.

hey Tyra,

well i don't really care about brands nor i know really about brands, so i just buy whatever i see that i need is on sale such as $3 or $4 blouses. i rarely buy clothes. i use the same stuff i had for years. styles come and go!! i've visited thrift stores but i rarely find something i am really going to wear. so no point on buying something i'll never wear!!

Hi Tyra,

Back in 1999 my husband was (is) in the US Navy I came across a great website that has saved me so much money and I have made some great friends. Karen Hoxmeier owner of www.mybargainbuddy.com has created a website with a newsletter and a forum that is the best. I can’t live without it (I have been a member of her newsletter for 8 years now) and I don’t think anyone should live without it.

Thanks,
Stacy

Hello Tyra,

It's me Paul once more replying to one of your posts. Hope all is well, I did not watch this particular show, but I am currently having money problems of my own. I am trying to access my money but I can't for some reason. COuld you please pray for me so that the Gods can clear things up so, that I can widhraw that money.

Thanks,

Paul

I consider myself a Goodwill Guru!! Best buy for me - I have bought a brand new (still had tags) Zero Halliburton laptop bag (retails for $495) for only $10! I don't waste time in the shops that don't organize the store by sizes because it takes too long to go through everything. Sometimes it takes a while to go through a store, but I can walk out with several hundred $$ worth of clothes for $50 or less! Also, with my current medical condition & my weight fluctuating drastically, Goodwill keeps me from spending a small fortune on a brand new wardrobe. Look for stores organized by size rather than color, and in the "better" neighborhoods!

I used to be a "yard-saler", but you can't try it on there & gas too much to drive all over town. Plus, Goodwill is open rain or shine!

Tyra,
I totally understand what you are talking about. I am "THE PRINCESS OF CHEAP". My mother, a friend of mine, and myself always are going to salvage stores, dollars stores, and garage sales. One day, one of my co-workers were talking about how she got a pair of $100 shoes that were on sale for $70. I had to tell her a sale is when you buy $149 shoes for $14. Now that's a sale.

Hi Tyra,

I can never tell if I am cheap, a penny-pincher, or what. I know one thing. I love to shop at the thrift store. I mean Ross, Walmart, and all those other stores are lovely but there is something better about shopping at the thrift store. I'm a big fan of antiques and having my own style versus having the same thing everyonelse is wearing. When you walk into the thrift store you see a variety of things. There is never one thought in my head like oh, how disgusting, these clothes are used? Or, just maybe i should go to mall. I never have second thoughts. I always come out very happy. There was a time where i didnt shop there for awhile and I went back to Ross. I wasn't that happy as I used to be. So that tells me alot. Whether I'm cheap or what not I still love the Thrift store.

Hey Tyra luved ur show! Before i had my 2 children i did not have to worry about money, everything was pretty much handed to me, but now I have to pinch pennies everday since i had my 2 children and it took a long time to learn how i could save money. I buy our neccesities and anything that i see that i would like to have i just say no to myself, I figure i can do for myself later. I don't want my children to grow up like i did, i want them to have compassion for everyone for who they are not because of what they wear or how much money they have. I am now on the other side and i deserve every minute of it, because of the way i judged when i was the one with money.

Hey Tyra!
Princess Of Cheap..That Could Be Me..& Im Not Even Affraid To Admit It. Trust Me When I Say I Go Shopping For Myslef & For Anything I Need EVERYWHERE!!..I Remember When I Was In High School..People Would Always Compliment Me On My Style & Looks. They Say That I Must Be Rich Or Something. Yeah! It Feels Good, But I Tell Them I Use And Wear Anything That Looks Or Works Good. No Need For High Prices. Because If They Say It Looks Good..Then Hey I Might As Well Wear It And Use It! =]

Hi I would just like to say that I enjoyed looking at yesterdays show 1/25/07 living large spending small. It was hillarious watching those two girls live on a college budget and well very much informative for me as well, although I do know about the .99 cents store. Looking forward to todays show and tomorrows since I got you Tivoed. See you soon!

I like to go out to eat alot. Happy hour is the way to go. You can get food and drinks half off.

Instead of the "regular" venues for movie rentals, I use my local public library. For a $5 fee, I can borrow all the movies I like for a two year period. Best deal around.

I love your show! I am a penny pincher also. I have a trillion money saving tips. Here are acouple good ones. When shopping for clothes the best time is the end of the season. I just went to Old Navy to get pants and got them all on clearance for $4.99 & $6.99. Marshalls is a great place to get name brands at cheap prices. Always go to Walmart for your shampoo/Cond, Deoderant all that stuff. $1 store for plastic containers or dish soap, they have tons of household items. Always cut those coupons. Another way to get coupons is to write or e-mail a company and give them positive feedback on their product and they send you coupons in the mail. These are a couple of tips.

Hi Ty! I am 24 and live in South-Africa. And I know I'm the Princess of Cheap! From my head to my toes. I go to a beauty coledge to get my hair done FOR FREE! Make up (Ralo cosmetics) Fleamarket stuff. Clothes - Shop at the kiddies stores and flea markets, and mannys and padys, I DO IT MY SELF! Every decoration in my house I made myself including my forsted mirror. And if I'm not happy with your service YOU'RE NOT GETTIN PAYD BUDDY! OH I even make my own jewelry, and flip flops.
And in the end I always look like a milion bucks.

First and foremost offbrands, offbrands, offbrands. When doing grocery shopping alot of times you can get away with the offbrand/store brand (ie canned veggies, tomatoes/tomatoe paste, juice, waffles). If you have kids they can never tell the difference. When I first got married my husband use to harp on me about buying offbrand/storebrands until he saw the money I saved. He doesnt complain now when I buy the off brand mouth wash. I used to pour it into the namebrand bottle and he couldnt tell the difference. Offbrand cleaning products are the same but they are diluted a litte bit more so you may use more products. Its all to the good to shop at stores like Family Dollar and Dollar General for household items. They even have name brand items for offbrand prices. I even bought kiddie clothes there for my kids to romp it and they have lasted well. Also, coupons, coupons, coupons. Sometimes its worth buying more than one sunday paper just for the savings you can get from coupons. You can also download coupons from many places online. My local newspaper has a website and I download coupons from them. Why go see a movie when you can rent one from places like redbox for a $1. Trade coupons online. Alot of stores like Kohls, JCpennys, Old navy have wonderful websites and I always go straight to the clearance sections. Alot of times they have free shipping and if you are not satisfied with the item you dont have to ship it back, you can return it to the store. Most cities have a "firesale" a.k.a. label warehouse, they have namebrand clothes for walmart prices. Also if you search online you can look for your local Freecyle. ITs a list where ppl in your city post things that they dont want...or things that they need..I have seen things from cars, clothes, baby items, odds and ends to furniture and pregarage sale items. Its all free, you just have to be the first to claim it and go and pick it up. Alot of times its worth it. One mans junk is another mans treasure. Buy clothes off season.

Thanks for the great job you do,Tyra! Renting a wedding dress is a great idea. When I got married many years ago, this wasn't an option. However, I bought a summer wedding dress on clearance. Then I had sleeves put in by a seamstess. So my dream Christmas wedding dress cost me $200. A few months later, my husband's sister used my dress for her wedding. Someday, maybe my daughters will use the same dress. Being creative can solve the problem and you can even have a great story to share a long time later. Keep up the great job, Tyra

I luv ur shows and ur message. I also am a native of L.A. & u & I have actually met a couple of times. ur show today "livin large on a budget" was great, actually all of ur shows are. I am so proud of u :-).
Missed the name of the high end fashion rental store or site. Please, please, please forward it 2 me. ASAP!!!
Thanks a million,
Inge B

Dear Tyra,
Love the show but have got to comment on today's topic of livin large on small change. I have two things I do that help tremendously. The first one is I have printed out a template for a shopping/supply list that I keep right on the fridge. After all, where are you when you run out of things but in the kitchen? That way as soon as I run out of or get low on something I can write it down and keep track of supplies that way. The other thing I do is take that same list and compare to the sale paper from the local supermarket when it comes out on Sunday. If an item is on the list I write how much is the sale price, size, etc. so I know exactly how much I can expect to spend. The other thing I do is clip those coupons. The same supermarket I just mentioned doubles coupons up to and including 50 cents seven days a week. Between my list and coupons I usually do very very well, saving 30 percent or more of what I spend. Just yesterday I saved over $16 and spent only $34 and that was without coupons. Oh, and I keep a copy of the list in my purse so I can always update no matter where I am. I hope this helps someone as much as it does me.

What is the website to rent the designer clothes?

Hey Tyra, I saw your show today and I'm a single mom of 7 year old twins who love to shop, my tip to saving is shopping at TJMaxx and Marshalls, they have everything even 30 day layaway and now we have this new store in our area call Rugged Wearhouse where I can buy express jeans for less than $15.00, I am called the fashion queen at my job , so this work s for me.

my tip is to go to the beauty supply store where they have every thing from perms to shoes and baby diapers! loved the show today! My brothers getting married and you helped us out!!!! you can also go to citi trends where they have 3 dollar clothes

LOVED the show today about ways to get a high end look for a great price. I've actually been a member of www.BorrowedBling.com (which is one of the renting companies that I saw on your show today) for several months. This has been the goldmine find of the year for me and it is so nice to see that you found them too. Their stuff is just "to die for" and looks totally real and it offers me a never-ending supply of BLING for very little money. My membership is $29 a month which is less than my cable bill costs me and less then I spend at Starbucks most months. Glad to see you giving this idea the praise it deserves! So glad borrowing items is now avaialble to the public.
Please do more shows like this.

I suggest shopping at thrift stores like Value Village. You can find so many good bargains there! If you want to buy something nice, you don't necessarily have to pay tons of money! Besides, who cares if it's name brand stuff or not, as long as you like it!

Hi Tyra. I am almost 17 years old and I just watched your show about the to girls who were like Paris and Nicole. I just wanna say I work 2 jobs and still keep up with sports, school and have a social life. My parents are divorced and my grandparents mean everything to me. I think its sad when people live off mommy and daddys money. Hopefully then learn before its to late.

Bonjour Tyra,
J'adore vous and your show today on livin' large on a small budget. Like other bloggers, I get all my designer looks on ebay or bluefly.com. These sites are fabulous. I go to Nordstroms and find the style of jeans or whatever that I like and try them on, then I go onto one of these websites and find the exact desgner pieces at a very low price.
I have even extended my savings to my home and my groceries. I shop at places like TJMaxx, Target, and Trader Joes. I have some other advice to save money on utilities. Most students qualify for low-income utility rates. Every utility has rates that are special for those that qualify. The savings are out there all you have to do is ask.
Take care. Au Revoir!

Tyra, i am a super saver myself. every few months my friends and i gather up our clothes that we no longer wear, or that we bought on impulse and never wore. we bring them to either buffalo exchange or crossroads and sell them, they buy trendy clothes that have little wear and tear. and then they sell them. so we make some money off our clothes we are over and then go buy new clothes with the money.

My Money saving is buy a none brand product, because for me everything is same.I don't spend until my next payday.I put extra money for my invesment. I think that's the best Money saving I can do. I love my money to grow for little amount.

Hey Tyra.. i thought your last show was so entertaining and a good wake up call for those girls especially. Im 18 and work as a waitress, live on my own and have to pay my own rent, health care everything on top of saving up for university. Thanks for representing the common person...!!

Hey everyone I am a single female, 25 years old with no kids and I have some tips on livin' large on small change.Everyone might not be able to split their money up like me, but if you are, give it a try and if you aren't some of these tips may still help you.I get paid bi-weekly, I automatically split my check in half, half to the checking account and half to the savings account(which I don't touch).I pay all my bills, pay for necessities, etc. with what's in my checking account.I shop on clearance racks all the time and have been doing so since I was in high school.I wear some "off brand" things and some name brand things, but it's always cheap when I buy it, I don't pay more than $15 for a shirt or $30 for a pair of jeans.I save on gas by driving the speed limit, using 87 octane(regular) gas because that is the recommended fuel for my car which is a 2003 Ford Mustang and most people don't know that unless your car requires a higher octane fuel, then paying for it(the fuel) is a waste of money and actually can harm your engine(read your driver's manual thoroughly),I avoid making unnecessary stops(I try to do all my errands on the same day while I am already out, I don't make special trips from home like driving up to the grocery store(I go on my way home from work),I avoid using the A/C in my car as much as possible because it decreases gas mileage and I keep up the maintenance on my car myself(This is another way to save money, the shop and labor fees most places charge are ridiculous).I don't eat out alot and if I do, I go the cheap route, have water for a drink and eat off the lunch menu if possible or sometimes have a large appetizer or an appetizer which includes various items and I never eat dessert.I mostly eat in and shop for groceries at Super Wal-Mart and regular supermarkets, but I buy alot of store brand products because alot of the time they are the same thing as the name brand or close enough to where you really can't tell the difference.I have a cell phone, but I avoid getting unnecessary features for me(keywords:FOR ME) which include, wireless phone insurance, any type of messaging i.e. text, video, etc. and when it's time to buy a new cell phone I usually get one that costs $50 or less, I think it's ridiculous to pay $200 and $300 for a phone because I only need to to make and receive phone calls, but to each is own, some people use a blackberry for a phone, personal computer, etc., but I don't need all that since I already have a computer.I do not have cable or satellite TV,if regular television programming is not entertaining enough, I read a book or borrow a movie from a friend.I have dial up internet which is free under my mom's account. Also any change that I have left over from paying for something with cash, I put in a savings jar at home and when it gets full, I roll up all the change and deposit it into my checking account.I also am very handy, I know how to work on cars,I know how to do basic/advanced house and yard maintenance,I do interior design for fun and have been able to use these things to my advantage as I have friends, family and coworkers who have paid me to do some of the things for them that I stated above.Hope these tips help, good luck! :o)

Hey,Tyra. Your show today had some really good tips for shopping cheaply. I love to read. So instead of spending 6 dollars for a one book I go to thrift stores where I can get about 7 books for the same price.

Hi Tyra

This is the first time I watched your show and I loved it.I loving shopping.I prefer brands and I wait for them to go on sale .I got some skirts from old navy for as low as 97 cents and got some tops at gap for 6$.I am very patient and wait for my favorite items to go on sale. You can also get selected designer items in TJ Maxx and Marshalls, but have to lil patient to find them.

I AM 17 YEARS OLD AND HAVE FOUND A NEW LOVE FOR FASHION. I AM NOT RICH AND WASN'T BORN WITH A SILVER SPOON IN MY MOUTH BUT I READ EVERY FASHION MAGAZINE THERE IS AND MAKE SURE IM STYLISH. I HAVE LEARNED TO DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT I AM NOT RICH AND CAN NOT AFFORD EVERYTHING IN THE MAGAZINE AND LOVE TO EMBRACE H&M'S AND MACY'S CLEARANCE RACK. YOU DONT GOTTA SPEND A MILLION TO LOOK LIKE IT.

Tyra
Thank you for todays show. In a society where high end fashion is all over the tv its good to see reality of how most americans live. I love bargain shopping to be honest with ya. The $.99 store is where I buy all of my tolietries(soap, toothpaste, bubble bath) and they carry name brand stuff. I also love shopping at the non mall type stores( Target, Walmart, Old Navy,$5 Store) they have the best stylish clothes and shoes for way less than what you spend at the mall. You can look good and like you are balling but you are balling on a budget. Also a good tip for getting a bargain is shop during the week like on tuesday, wednesday or thursday its less crowded and you can take your time to look Again Tyra thank you for the show, it was much appreciated.

Tyra,

I *love* interior decorating, but as a part-time employed and full time college student, you can imagine that my budget doesn't quite fit my creativity! Fortunately I have been blessed with a mother who goes antiquing religiously. Now, I'm not talking about big name antique shops or the traveling shows. I guarantee that everyone has 5-10 small antique shops within an hour or two of their homes. I have a living room that looks Pottery Barn and it's made up almost entirely of cheap antiques and hand-me-downs!

Another good tip is to go to http://www.craigslist.com. People sell things (from appliances to clothes) for super-cheap or there's even a free section.

Every once in a while I can find a stellar piece of furniture or a great vase at Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

Anything pricey that I want to buy, I go to http://www.froogle.com first. This is a search engine through Google that finds you the cheapest prices for that item on the internet! You would be amazed.

I buy my books on Amazon.com, my art supplies at DickBlick.com & on Ebay. I shop for Christmas decor *after* Christmas.

Looking for fun things to do on a dime?

If you have a puppy, hop on Amazon.com and order the Three Dog Bakery cookbook. Make fun treats for your and your friends' pets.

Go to the park.

Walk around downtown.

Get friends together and chip in to plan a party.

Create YOUR OWN wall-art to decorate your place

Pick up some cheap fabric from a 2nd hand store and cover some old dingey pillows in a fun new color

Bake cookies for someone/something

Can't afford curtains? Use bed sheets instead.

Buy things you'll always need from Sams Club or Costco - garbage bags, light bulbs, your favorite cereal or soda, cleaning supplies, dish detergent, etc.

I have more but I can't think of them right now!

Hi Tyra! Here is a great tip for a fabulous dinner date for free. Grab your man and visit wedding banquet halls (ones that don't require you hire your own caterer)and tell them you are getting married and that you want to check out their facilities. Ask them for a food tasting. They will usually hook you up with a voucher for the most amazing meal. One upscale venue we visited gave us a gift certificate for us and SIX others to the most AMAZING brunch I have ever seen, complete with champagne, buffet, chaffing stations, and a massive desert table. The brunch at this place goes for $35 a person. That was a $280 value for FREE, not to mention a great meal with our friends. Unfortunately I didn't learn this trick until I got engaged, but I wish I had learned it sooner. I'll probably end up doing it again now that I'm married.

If you're the queen of cheap I have to be the princess or something, my trick for saving money might not work for everyone, but for those daring enough give it a shot. I cut my own hair. I'm the kind of person who is never really satisfied staying where I'm at, I always want change, so I always had to go get my hair cut and dyed and changed. Then I realized, I can learn how to do this myself. I took a chance, cut it super short, and it looks really nice! If you just go a little at a time you won't ruin it, and it's easy to learn how! I'll never pay for a haircut again:)Love ya tyra ♥

Hey Tyra,
Loved the show. Thanks for snatching folks back into reality; much of our society has a champagne taste but a Kool-aid pocket book. I especially like when you showed that you can have a swap party with your friends, awesome idea. Here are two more great ideas. Your best bargains can be found in your neighborhood thrift store. If people don't mind wearing last years line, lots of designer apparel can be found there, ranging from $2-$10. Also, if you like antiques the thrift store is the place to be. For an added discount, on senior day bring along a senior for that10% or 20% discount. Also, for people who live in Ivy League college towns, college kids tend to have very disposable lives after graduation. Many of my friends and I love to go what we call “spring time curb shopping.” It is a great way to acquire electronics. Between thrift stores and curb shopping I can afford an original designer bag or shoes...

Dear Tyra, I loved your show on bargains, and I too hate spending too much! I am in college, so money is always tight, and I have found that dollar stores are a great way to go. You can get brand name things like candy, chips, snacks etc for much less than at the grocery store, as well as little necessities like cleaning supplies, toilitries, wrapping paper and holiday decorations. Many things are just as good quality but much cheaper. And, each store tends to have different things, even if they are from the same chain.

Hey Tyra! I've got the best little known secret for saving some big bucks on HOT ITEMS! So here's the deal....THE LIBRARY! Rent DVD's and CD's for free. Don't ever download a song for $.99 again! And you only have to call or go online to extend how long you want to keep the item out. Let me know if you would like more info!

when i go shopping i must look at every store showing off practically the same thing. when i see a store selling the same thing a few dollars cheap of course i go and buy it. stores like little bouquets or shoe stores that are cheap give the same quality but for less then half of what the "name brand" is retailing it off for. i never really spend more then $80 on clothing and thats probably on a monthly basis and i get more than 15 outfits!

I loved the show today! It had some really good info. To save a few bucks, it's obvious to buy drug store makeup vs. department store makeup. Instead of a drugstore though, I get makeup from Target. They have a bigger selection than the drugstore, and everything is 2 or 3 dollars cheaper, it doesn't seem like a lot, but the savings add up!

Well I would have to say I am the queen of thrift and sales. I love buying something that I know could have cost a lot more!! And you'd be amazed what kinds of things you can find at second hand and consignment shops....I would say I have bought thousands of dollars worth of clothes (and purses & even shoes) for a fraction of the price...and I am picky about what I buy too...I look for next to new...and I find it!!! It's a great feeling!

Hey Tyra! Thanks for your show on "Queen of Cheap". I'd love it if you have more shows like this. Something I do when I'm bored or feeling a bit down but don't have much money is go to the pet store. It costs you nothing to look at the pets cutest little faces. If it's not busy you can ask one of the helpful people there if you could pet or hold one of them. Another thing I like to do cause I'm a poor student too is to just surf the internet for anything other than school work. (when I'm not studying) I try to avoid websites that are trying to sell something so I often search sites of universities. I'm in the health field so sometimes I find information they are teaching in their classes or other interesting tid bits of info no one else realizes. (makes you sound kinda smart too when you're having conversation with your friends.)
Oh ya, and another thing I sometimes do to get more money is to do small things for small amounts of money. For example, I have a sewing talent. Every now and then I have people come to me who need something mended, hemmed, etc. I charge a small fee for these fixes and it puts some small change in my pocket so I can treat myself to a movie or a new shirt.
Thanks again Tyra, I'm full of them...Lots of Love Tanya

Hi Tyra, I love when you do the shows on how to look sweet for cheap. This is definitely the way to go. It's very seldom that I purchase something for the regular price. I advise anyone when shopping start on the clearance rack. Shop at stores like TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory, and Marshalls where you can get the name brand for a low price. Just recently I purchased a ring from Kay Jewelers for $150 that retails for $500. Also I was low on cash and needed clothing for the church choir, I managed to purchase a skirt, two blouses, a slip and a pair of shoes for $42. When it comes to getting a bargain for your money I'm definitely fighting you for The Queen of Cheap Crown. By the way to keep those $4 earrings shining just add a coat of shining clear nail polish.

I have been able to keep within a reasonable budget by shopping for clothes and household items on ebay. I have found great buys such as 3 like new sweaters for $15. Very nice dressy tops for very little money. The trick is to look for lot deals... where you get more than one item for the price. I've done this for the past five years. Not only do you save money but time and gas.

Thank you, Tyra, for being realistic! The bargain-shopping tips you gave in this show actually fit the lifestyle of the average American girl, unlike so many magazines and shows I've seen that act like a $60 purse is an unbelievable deal. It was refreshing to see that someone in the celebrity world actually gets it. This show was the real deal!

I too am the queen of cheap! A 30 year old mother of two, you learn ways to stay in style on a budget. I always shop at nicer department stores but always the clearance section, and if you can go to the juniors department they always have great sales on designer jeans (usually I get them cheaper than if I went to Walmart or Target)! I stock up on food when it's on sale, especially meat (freeze it up to six months). I will get a mani and pedi every couple months and keep it up on my own in between. The things I don't skimp on, hair and make up...style is not just what you wear ;)

Hi Tyra!!

I love you and I love your show. I love your show/ I watch it every day. I like the "livin' large on small change" show. I used to save but recently, got out of control with spending. i'm in college and get a crtain amount $50 a week from my advisor and it's done by the weeekend, and it's supposed to last all week.

Help!!

Please email me some tips for savin' some green!
thank you
Ashley

I have many ways that i buy cute clothes for a low price. I usually will shop at wal-mart or at dollar general. I love dollar general they have lots of things for a dollar and many people have complimented me on my clothes and other things. I also like to go shopping at this cheap place that has the best clothes for a really low cost. I bought my 8th grade dress there and everyone loved it. I hope that other people that spend alot on clothes and make-up can go to a cheap store and see that life doesn't have to be expensive. Well i hope that this will help. I love u ty, your awesome!!
Love ya'll,
Matty K :)

I am watching your show and I am amazed at how some people do not realize the everyday struggle of average students. As a recent graduate (december 06) I can remember buying a whopper value meal and cutting the sandwich in half so I can have a snack for later. Just yesterday, it was storming really bad and I was trying to travel home. I had to stop at Wal-mart to buy new winshield wipers because the rubber on the ones I had was barely attached. I only bought on for the passenger side simply because I am so afraid fo bouncing a check. When you go through some things in life you can adjust or maybe I'm just a survivor.

One other thing, is not running to the emergency room every time you feel a little sick, just go to the doctor first, and then if they say go to the emergency room if they say you need to. too many of my friends are way too young to be in the amount of debt that they are in, just because of hospital visit.

hey i was wondering where u could rent the dresses for cheap like the one on todays show!! plz contact me as soon as possible.

Hi! My fiancée loves your show, and he told me that in today’s show you had a $700.00 Vera Wang dress, were going to get married next October in Mexico and we were wondering how can we get a wedding dress like that at that price… Love Lulu!

I have a great tip that has saved me TONS on shaving over the years and has made my skin basically flawless!
Instead of using expensive creams or gels for shaving, I use cheap hair conditioner from my local dollar store! I can get a HUGE bottle for $1! It lets the razor easily slide by to get a really close shave! Not to mention that it leaves my skin silky smooth with no razor-burn!

When I shop for clothes, I usually wait for a sale or clearance. There was a shirt I wanted from Charlotte Russe for $20, but I decided to wait. I eventually found it at the Las Vegas outlet for only five dollar! Another great time to shop is aft
