I’m 16 and a junior at Boyd Anderson High School, home of the Cobras, and plan to attend college, majoring in journalism. I have a great collection of poetry I’ve written and I’m currently working on a novel. I’m an editor on my school’s yearbook staff and the writer of my school’s newsletter. My dream has always been to have a magazine published for my high school. I originally planned to begin working toward this goal after college, but realized it would make a greater difference if I begin today. Being the Student Government president for the upcoming school year, I felt it would show great school pride and leadership if I did something meaningful while I am still a student here. My name is Keleisha Taylor and I am currently a senior in High School. It is just about that time when children leave the nest of their guardians to attempt to make it out into the real world on their own. I have a GPA of 3.83 and I wish I could go to a University or a well-known college that would help me to be the best that I can be and also to get a steady job using the knowledge that I would receive from college.
As you can see, I have the grades, but the means of mobility and a place to stay-since I feel I don't want to stay at home with my mom- is not there for me. I have the motivation, the drive, and the skill, but chances don't come as frequently for me. Especially the finances. My mom is disabled and has Bipolar Disorder, and therefore cannot work. My Dad, who is in Missouri, pays child support, but that usually goes to the rent. I want to make something of myself and I feel ashamed to tell people that I am going to a community college with my grades that my friends call "nearly perfect." If I went to a University, I would choose to double-major in American Sign Language Interpreting and Dance. I love to do them both and I would work extra hard to achieve my goals. So, what I want to ask Tyra, is would you help me get into a University?

so TYRA!!! I am not saying that what I want is something that is better or worste than any other person with dreams or goals. I am 26 years old and I am a mother of 3 wonderful boys. I have been married and divorced and been through so manny things in my life just like the next person. I have had to deal with a crack addicted wonderful mother, being raped, being abused, my own addictions to terrible relationships, and so many other things. Yea i am a woman with three kids and three different fathers, but I still have dreams. I was raised in the projects and had to at times be the mother to my 2 siblings. I have witnessed my father (at least the man I thought was my father unitl I was 14) abuse my mother, I have seen drug addicts fall out in our living room floor and yet through all of that I haven let it hold me all the way back. At times it is hard to be consistent and focus, but I try so hard to be all that I can be. I am currently in school, and just trying to be better. So getting to my dream!!! HA HA!!! I love your show and one of my favorites was when you had Mario on there dealing with his mothers addiction. Wow!!! My cousin who is the closest one I have has been incarcerated due to her addiction. she is only 26 and I love her so much. Not many people woyuld have been able to go through what she has and not kill herself!!! Off track again I see. I want to have my own restaurant!!! And my dream is rather simple I think.I WANT TO MAKE YOU MY FAMOUS TACO EGGROLLS AND I WANT YOU TO TRY THEM ON TV!!! I think they are amazing and so does everyone else. I want my place to have cuisines from around the world!!! I know you like to eat like me!! HA HA!!! It is simple and maybe not all that great to some people but cooking and singing as well have gotten me through some hard times. I love to cook!!! If at all possible I would love the opportunity!!! I know there are people who have bigger dreams than I do, but this is what my heart is in!!! HELP!!!!

Howdy Tyra, My wife has always wanted to ride a dog sled. She has tried to get to Alaska to do it, but hasn't make it. She has tried to track down other places that offer the experiance. Hi Tyra,

My name is Andrea, I am a 38 year old grandmother of four handsome little men. My oldest daughter is a wonderful musician and artist. She is married, with two adorable little boys. But she no longer knows who she is . She is not happy. In addition, I have a 18 year old daughter, who is a high school student and a single mom of two beautiful little boys. I am proud of her in spite of her following in my footsteps. She has been accepted to Wood Tobe'-Coburn in Manhattan for the fall school year. She is a beautiful girl, she is very photo genic and a great photographer and artist. She has lost her drive and ambition, I don't know what to do to help her get it back. I am in-between jobs and a college student myself right now in addition to being an CASA advocate for foster children. I say all of that because I don't want to see my own children left behind. I have tried to prevent them from making my mistakes or help them after they did. I want to help our youth realize that they are all valuable, and can be anything that they want to no matter what they have done, or mistakes they have made, and there are people who believe in them and want to help them find a better way. So all of that brings me to what I want to do .

I want to set up a summer program for male and females and use it to motivate them to go for their dreams. I could really use your expert advice. In my part of the program I would like to combine a fashion and hair show. There are a lot of inner city youth that aspire to be fashion designers, models, cosmetologist, make up artist, photographers, and beauticians,. I want to establish a program where they can take the skills and passions that they have and get training and direction and just go for it. I would like to set it up with some teachers to train them, and mentors to guide and motivate them, and a good old fashion contest at the end to see who is the best of our best. Let them compete, sort of like your top model on a smaller scale and Fashion Runway. I would also like to rais enough money where we can give the winners money for a scholarship. The problem is I have no idea of how to start… can you help me? I want to help them become young entrepreneurs. Have professionals come in and show them how to start up a business, create a portfolio, market them-selves. I welcome any suggestions you can offer… Yo are a wonderful example of hard work and dedication and of a person commited to thier dreams and passions. I would be elated if you would grace us with your presence once we have set it all up. If not in person, just some helpful advice. I know we are trying to take on a lot, its just that we believe in our kids and want them to succeed. Thanks for all you do to inspire our youth.
