MESSAGE FROM TYRA: Drinking and my trip to rehab.

Hi y'all,
I feel like I’ve been very lucky because I don’t really have an addictive personality. I’ve never had any drugs and I had a little taste of alcohol when I was 12-years-old, but that’s about it. Although, I recently went to Napa with Alex (one of my Executive Producers from the talk show) and I learned how to pair wines with certain tastes - and red wine tastes good with salt and bitter things like lemon. So, every now and then I’ll order some wine at the table. I’ll only take two sips, but I’ll keep holding the glass cause it makes me feel sexy, but I still don’t drink it because it still tastes kind of nasty to me. But my point is, I’m not really an “alcohol girl,” and I’m DEFINITELY NOT a “drug girl.”
Since the idea of addiction is a little foreign to me, I was really interested in going behind the scenes of a rehabilitation facility and investigating rehab. Especially when it comes to celebrities because there are so many stars who get addicted to drugs and alcohol and I wanted to know what comes first, the chicken or the egg? Do the problems occur because people already have an addictive personality and they get into the industry and eventually become addicts, or are they just normal sweet people and the industry makes them go crazy and turned onto drugs? To learn more, NEXT TUESDAY, May 22nd, we’re doing a very powerful Tyra Show where I go to a rehabilitation facility called Promises. As we all know, some very famous people have gone to promises. A famous girl recently stayed there. She’s a sweet girl and I know her, so I’m not going to say her name, but she’s been through a lot lately and we know who she is.
I wanted to see what goes on inside those places, and NEXT TUESDAY, May 22nd, I take my cameras with me for an exclusive look behind closed doors. The crazy thing is, I thought any celebrities staying at Promises would want to hide their faces and be like, “Oh great. Tyra’s here and she’s here with her talk show! Let me hide my face.” But there was a really famous actress, she might not mind if I say her name but I’m not going to, who ran up to me and was asking how I was doing and telling me her story. I LOVE that she had no shame in her addiction and that she came up and talked to me.
In the beginning of the episode next Tuesday, I check in as myself. I, Tyra Banks, check in as an addict. I went inside the walls of Promises, and got to see what it was really like. As I walked the hallways I thought of all the famous people that had been there because addiction offers no preferential treatment for the famous; it’s a problem that affects everybody. The place is beautiful and looks like a spa, but behind closed doors people are detoxing. When a staff member told me that, I asked if they were detoxing for REAL like Diana Ross in “Lady Sings the Blues,” sweating in the corner and stuff. He said it was possible. It might look like a spa, but this is the real deal. So tune in NEXT TUESDAY, May 22nd, to find out where all the celebrities are going for rehab, and what it’s REALLY like.
Love,

Hi Tyra,
I am currently watching your show called " Addicted to Thin". I can totally see where your last guest is coming from. She is bulimic and is using cocaine, as I am to be thin. Seeing her on the show really hit very close to home. I have been bulimic since I was 16, and just began using cocaine to curb my appetite about 4 months ago. I know that I have a problem, but I STILL don't see myself as thin, and I want nothing more than to be thin and beautiful, so I will continue until I am thin. As your guest said, I would rather be dead than stay the size I am now.

I thought that this particular episode was a bit biased. See not everyone has the resources to go to a place like promises or any facility at all. To some people the addiction has become more then a disease it has become their way of life, because it's all that they know. I myself have suffered with addiction, I fought it out by myself, without the help of a rehab, I have several friends that have done the same. Celebrities have so many people around them to help pick them up, but when you come to people like me and my friends all we have is each other and sometimes not even that. Rock bottom for us is waking up behind a dumster, not knowing who you had sex with the night before, or having the crap beat out of you just because your weak. Those things I've never heard about happening to a celeb. I'm sure if they did it would have been solved in a day. It's just a different world when you don't have celeb status and when you see those who have that status flaunt it to get what they want.

Tyra,
i can't agree more with brittany's comments. the show really is all about you and your image. No matter what it is, it always comes back to you. That sucks. get some tips from oprah.

I live in a neighborhood where kids do do drugs at the park. I know many of those kids and many other kids at my school who do drugs. I make it known to everyone that i don like drugs so dont ask or try to pressure me. Being high isnt kool. I had to take vikoden for pain and i didnt like how it made me feel, it made my reaction time slower and i didnt really have complete control of myself. I hated that feeling, it was awful. To me drugs are bad and they destroy people's lives. Infact if i know you and you come up to me high and you try to talk to me i speak in short sentences because that to me is disrespectful. I just have seen how drugs have overtaken people and i wish they could quite and make themselves better, but they can only do that if they themselves want that.

Tyra -
I watch your show quite a bit but am disppointed that I missed the one where you went to Promises. I am 19 years old. Since I was 11 years old I started drinking, smoking, drugging and dealing. Your question about why people start doing drugs is one I have heard often. I just wanted to say that you truelly do your best to address pressing issues that millions of people have to deal with every day and I respect that. I wish you the best and thank you for keeping things real.

hey tyra,
how are you ? i love your show, my comment may come a bit late as i just saw the party girls episode today, as i am a nonsmoker, dont drink and recently lost my dad to lung cancer ,i agree with all your comments, however was really disappointed in you and the doctor to have sit those girls down and convince them that 10 years ago girls like them had a different name was really shamefull for both you and the girls because we both know its never the way to go. i love your strength and your class and hope you would pay more attention as some words may come out offencive, i am a fan of your self esteem program i would hate to see you contadict yourself. layal sydney australia

Hey Tyra!,
My name is Katelynn and I am going to be 16 in august and my mother is a drug addcit and an alchoholic. She started using when i was 11 yrsold. Her drug of choice was heroin. Let me jsut personally say that heroin is a nast drug and takes a hold of your body within 3 days. Taking care of my mother when she was going through withdrawals was very difficult. There was barely food in the house and our clothes were never clean. (my sister and i, Sarah)My mom stopped tucking us in and stopped ebing a mother. She used very heavily for 3 yrs. and the neglect became so bad thta she wasnt aware of the fact thta he rgirlfriend was hitting my sister or that one time she molested my sister and i. My mother was out of it on drugs she couldnt even stick up for me and my sister when her girlfriend called us bad name sna dscreamed in our faces. Finally my mother quit heroin and kicked her out. I was about 13 at this time. But my mother started drinking heavily and it gave her heatitis C in her liver and her liver was already damaged. She als o has had a heart attack at age 35 and has high blood pressure. When our social worker found out we were taken away and our mother gave us to our good family friend Chucky. My mother was tsill drinking and I missed her terribly. I still do. She has moved to Ohio and is married. She is sobar now but i will never forget what the drugs did to our famlily. It destroyed us. I still cry sometime sna dim gonna be 16 yrs. old. I miss her and i wouldlike to do a drug awareness campaign. I love yuor show and all you people who hate hr you don't know her enough to make thta opinion. Love ya tyra!

I have never been drunk before. I guess that's because I am underage (12). But I can tell you this...I had a teaspoon of Jamaican wine (My mom's Jamaican) and I hated it. I mean, who could become addicted to it? I know I am never EVER going to get high on wine-it tastes too yucky for me. My advice: Get Tortuga Rum Cake from Jamaica. It has a wee bit of alcohol in it-most of it is burned out.

Tyra,I was just watching your show on pressures of drinking, unfortunately, I gave into peer pressure 3 weeks ago at a party. It didn't sink in until the cops were called, and they wanted to take me to juvy for under aged drinking. I am still grounded and will be until senior year(which is four years away)I have learned my lesson, because it really hit hard when my dad said he was ashamed of me. I look at life differently now .... love ya

Hi Tyra,
I just wanted to add, especially for those who have troubles with this kind of thing. I grew up in a family with all kinds of addictions. My father is currently addicted to pain killers, both my father and my step mother still to this day like to use marijuana on a regular basis, my mother came from a family of alcoholics, and to this day she is a schitsophrenic alcoholic. I have two brothers by blood and two step brothers all of which use some variation of drugs from cigarets and alcohol all the way to marijuana and other casual drugs. When i was in high school, i went through the normal rebelious stages of being a teen, and because they did not want to deal with me put me on porzac which caused so many problems. It made me feel so numb inside that i would cut myself and then of course be hospitalized for it. I have never had any desire to use drugs of any kind: I have never even tried cigarrets. If anything i should be a walking pharmacy right now, but as i grew up i knew those things were wrong, and i have always tried my hardest to stay away from them. I am pregnant right now, and i won't even take tylenol for the aches and pains. I guess I am so afraid of the alternate affects that drugs have that i would rather suffer than to pay the consequences of using any kind of drug or medication. I have just seen so many people suffer that i never want that to happen to me or my child.
I think you are such an inspiration for actually putting yourself in these situations so you can knowingly speak about them, thank you.

My sister (Jennifer) has a really bad drug addiction and this episode brought tears to mine and my moms eyes. It just hurts to know that we can't do anything to help her and have to just sit and watch why she is killing herself. She started by smokin Marijuana, then she went to Meth, and now she does Ice. I love my sister so much and it hurts to see my older sister look like my grandmother. She has three kids, Isaiah 8,Isidro 6, and Iliana 3. The two boys live here with my parents (Ector and Yolanda) and I, she no longer has custody of any of her kids. Iliana lives with her father. These kids grow more and more everyday and they continue to ask about their mother and my parents have run out of things to tell them. She is the greatest person ever and she is just hurting herself and everyone around her. My parents have tried to send her to rehab but she refuses to go and stay. Everyone has tried to help her and she just runs. She has called from jail, called saying she got beat up and called saying she doesnt know where she is. When this episode came on my mom and I were thinking maybe we could get my sister into the rehab you visited. The only problem is the cost. I want my sister to be my sister, not an adict. And it would be a blessing if we could get her there. So if you could please help us it would be greatly appreciated. You would also be saving the lives of three children.

What's up, Tyra? : )
You are an absolute inspiration, Tyra Banks. My roommate and I always get together to watch your show every day for some girl bonding time and have decided to drive down to LA for Spring Break to see if we can watch a show liv e for once. :)
I myself have been drinking since I was twelve--no, not that heavy liquor drinking, but that wine-with-my-meal drinking; I lived in Europe, so it was okay. Still, when I tell people that I've been drinking since I was twelve and can count how many times I've been drunk on one hand (all three of those times being accidents--let me tell ya, me and tequilla is a no-no!) they're completely floored.
It's sad to know that responsibility concerning drinking is so severely limited--my roommate doesn't even drink at all.
But I'm rambling--thank you so much for being an inspiration, and keep up the SO WHAT's and Vaseline stints because Lord knows my roommate and I can't get enough of it (we write the Tyra buzzwords on our whiteboard all the time :D).
Love to you from us, Tyra, and keep up the good work, Sister!

Tyra,
I have been watching your show for a long time now. I absolutely LOVE how you help young girls with body image, self-esteem, etc. It is so sad to see these young girls now a days that think that you HAVE to look a certain way. Everyone is different, and you have to be YOU. I really look up to you also, although I am only 19, I have always believed in the same things as you. I had a friend that is like two years younger than me, and all she would say is "I wish I looked like that" and I would ALWAYS tell her that you don't have to look like that, you are your own person. Society now is more persistant on girls looking skinny and sexy, but that is not how everyone has to look. Well I don't want to write too much, even though I have a lot to say to you...so thank you for everything you are doing!! Keep up the show and follow your heart. I would like to hear from you, that would be really awsome! THANKS!

I have a song for you the title of the song is I'LL BE. I hope you'll like it.
The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath Emeralds from mountains thrust towards
the
sky Never revealing their depth Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love I'll be captivated, I'll
hang
from your lips Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from
above I'll be your cryin' shoulder I'll be love suicide I'll be
better when I'm older I'll be the greatest fan of your life Rain
falls angry on the tin roof As we lie awake in my bed You're my
survival, you're my living proof My love is alive and not dead
Tell
me that we belong together Dress it up in the trappings of love
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips Instead of the gallows of
heartache that hang from above
• Chorus • I've dropped out, burned
up,
fought my way back from the dead Tuned in, turned on, remembered
the thing you said [...]
love ya tyra

I need to go to rehab, my mother says so, not for drugs, but, for cutting, I know this has nothing to do with drugs and stuff, but I needed to talk about it to someone. Yea I do drugs but not addicted to them, and yea I drink, and I cut. I need help, but I don't want CPS coming to my home. At times I hate my self and my family, but I love them. I need help, or advice, e-mail to help me before I make a mistake and go to far and kill myself. My age is 15, sophmore in high school. Female.

Dear Tyra-
I really enjoyed watching your show today about you going to see what rehab was like. I think it opened the eyes of a lot of viewers out there. I am 17 and summer is here, I LOVE YOUR SHOW! I also loooove ANTM! My favorite. That's one of the main reasons why I was looking forward to summer so much is because I get to see your show =D But lately I've been working all day, so I can only see half of it! But now, I'm about to watch your 12 noon show! Love you Tyra! You're an inspiration!
Love, Marissa [From Mn]

Hey, um. Hi, I guess. This isn't a comment about this article but like, I couldn't find where you leave a message for Tyra so like, here's what I wanted to say! YOU ROCK TYRA! I've been watching you sense I was ten, and that was like, three years ago. I think it's cool, how you have like, two of your own shows, your an actor, a singer (sort of), and a model! It's awsome! Me and my friend Jordan watch your show like, all the time. Except I've been busy this last couple weeks so I haven't got to see the show, but still, your awsome! I think that for one of your shows, you should like, have like, bands that are from around the world. Like, McFly from Londan, and like Shakeria (or how ever you spell her name)from I think Spain. And then like, a group from China or something. I don't know, it's just an idea. Well, hope you get this! LUV YA! Steph, age 13

Apologies if this posts twice, my server wonky.
After hearing glowing reports from my friends on the Tyra Banks show, I was excited to watch the episode on Monday, June 4th.
However, I was frustrated to hear only the Latina guest mention intra-race diversity. Furthermore, the White guest with the Southern accent was possibly the most ignorant guest I have seen on TV (Jerry Springer aside).
I am White, but I am also Jewish with a strong Middle-East influence, and it would have been interesting to see a thought provoking segment on the subcultures' perspective on weight, but this show took on only the superficial objective of "Black vs. White vs. Latin vs. Asian".
I had expected more from a this show, and particularly from Tyra. The segment smacked of a late-night brain-storm session that ended with the first moderately workable idea.
In the future, please consider the merits of delving deeper into our diversity as the American people when considering show topics of this sort. There was just so much more that could have been done with this idea, and I was sorry to see that it wasn't fleshed out... as it were.

Dear Tyra,
First of all I would like to say your are like my idol I respect you so much. Anyways, this drinking rehab thing caught my attention. I noticed that there were people on your show that seeked, and wanted help for there addictions but what about people who are alcholics but never try to get help, never try to change their ways. I'm a 15 year old girl and I have a brother who is 23 and has been an alcholic since i can remember, maybe for like 5-6 years. My family has put him in rehab, 3 times already but he does not TRY to change! He comes out of rehab the same as he went in! I want him to change Tyra, he lives with me and my family, and his presence ANNOYS me! He drinks day and night! I hate it because my father, who is "supposed" to be helping is the one who buys him beer, he also drinks but I dont know if i should consider him an alcholic as well. I dont know what to do nomore my family has been suffering and trying to help my brother change but how can we help someone who doesn't help himself!
Love,
Jocelyn

Tyra, Today is Friday, I had to think hard what day it was because I have been taking 6 mg of xanax xr for the past 10 years. I want to stop taking it so bad but it has horrible, death like feelings when I stop. Your show, promises made me think harder about what I miss out on everyday, my husband and children, my friends, etc...sometimes, I just sleep all day. I know if I had a place away from home with top counselors, I could stop...please help me attend promises, I would like my recovery telivised through your show to show those other moms out there with addicitons like mine...they can stop, its ok. It is the drug of choice
for upscale women and middle class women who are married with children. We claim stress and anxiety and the doc hands us an RX for the toughest stuff out there and after ten years, we cannot survive or breathe without it. HELP. and thanks for your enlightenment. B

Tyra- First of all, I love your show and I record it every day, but I was a little upset about the Promises rehab episode. It's hard to explain, but it seemed as you were more focused on the celebrities being there and in rehab than the "normal" people. Celebrities are humans and need to follow the rules just as everyone else. It is ridiculous they can pay 5 figures more to have an extra bigger bed and, it seems, better treatment. Your show seemed to talk more of them. I mean, it is stupid that Paris Hilton wanted to get out of jail for her DUI!! It was her damn fault and just because she is a celebrity, she shouldn't get a "get out of jail free card!" Celebrities should be ordered to share rooms, go to group meetings, and do everything else all the others do. They shouldn't be allowed interviews, cell phones, or specialty foods. I'm not saying they do at Promises or anywhere else, but now I'm on a roll. It is just so unfair that they get better treatment in general because they are famous. Dammit, we have to pay to get into clubs and pay full price for clothing, why shouldn't they??? Did I make myself clear? I hope. Thanks for reading this. Keep up the great shows, except for this one.

Hi Tyra
I was just reading comments people have left you and I was so appalled by what Brittaney posted. Not only once but several times. Just out right rude!
Who is she to say those negative things about you? At least you are trying to make the world a better place. If we had more people like you in this world, who knows what we could achieve. You are just amazing and fabulous and keep doing your thang! It really does make a difference, no matter what some people think!

Trya,
Your show is the biggest amount of crap I've ever seen. I had the unfortunate experience today of being forced to endure it will my roommates watch the garbage. Normally I would just ignore the constant irratation, but today it went to far. Through my watching of your "show" I have become completely convinced that you are indeed the MOST arrogant and egotistical human being in existence. If you aren't constantly reminding everyone of the fact that you were a model (big accomplishment there by the way) then you are redirecting every conversation back to yourself. Hypocritical isn't even a start to describe your hubris. Have the pathetic irony ever occured to you, that it is absurd for you to dwell on the media's negative press about your body, when YOU gave more attention to the pictures then anyone else. So what indeed Tyra. If it's really a "so what" attitude, why did you devote so much time and energy to it? Clearly just another means for you to talk about your favorite subject: yourself. Not to mention that you made your living for years off of working for the main promoter of unhealthy ideals of what's "beautiful". How moronic. Finally, about today's "show". Where do you get off saying the drug addicted woman has a "luxury" of anything?! That is as ridiculous as claiming homeless people have the "luxury" of not having to worry about home owner's insurance. Do the world a favor and start spending less then 99% of your time thinking about and celebrating your self and minor achievments. You stood still for someone to sell something to a consumer driven America... you didn't cure cancer. You are not important, and I'm surprised anyone knows your name.
I can't wait for the day that your show flops as bad as your music career
Thanks
Brittaney

Hey Tyra,
This show was great. I think you did a great job at showing how tough addiction is. This show personally hit me pretty hard. I started using cocaine at the age of 14, and did not stop until the age of 18. I was using everyday before, during, and after school. My cousin noticed that I was changing and told me that if I did not stop she would tell my mother. My mom is the most important person in my life, so I did not want to her. I agreed to stop, and went cold turkey. I am only 19 years old so I have not been sober for very long. Every day is an ongoing struggle. Thank you for doing this show. It reminded me why I want to continue to be healthy.

i think its amazing that you, unlike all my friends, decided not to acquire the taste to alchohol and stay away from it. all my friends say they love it and i was like i thought it was supposedly nasty... and they would be like... well once you acquire a taste for it .. it tastes good. i dont see the point in going through all that for something can do bad stuff to your body. you're an amazing role model, and i really respect you.

p.s. i missed that show..

I must say, I was on your show you know, about dieting and I was really saddened to see how much of a hypocrite you acted like. You flung comments about being lazy, etc. yet finally here you say youve never experienced it. On TOP of that, You didnt even say hello to me, nor acknowlege me. I feel like you just dont care, other wise you would have helped me see that im not as ugly as i think... instead you give all the attention to people you think are poor and need prom dresses! what type of crap!!! People need to know what you really are about or you need to fix my image of you

Tyra,
I would have to say you are one of the most influenctal people i have ever seen/watched. Lol. Everyday I come home after school and find myself watching your show, after it has been recorded. Many of your shows and the subjects of your shows have touched me in a lot of ways and really showed me what goes on outside of the world I see. This one here showed how strong people truely are and gave me so much respect for the people who have gotten or are strucken into that disease of alcoholism/drug use. You are one amazing women with all the good deads you do. You are definately my hero and I do hope you see this because everyone deserves a good comment every once in awhile. :] I hope one day I am special enough to meet you. Words couldn't describe how much of a hero you are to me.
Love, Brittany

Hey Tyra! I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this particular show. I myself am a recovering addict. I wasn't on the drug for a long time, but I know now that I was an addict. My drug of choice was herion. I did it for about 4 months straight. It started out by trying it once and then everytime after that was chasing the first high, which you never get again. I got so bad that I started stealing from the people I cared about most. I lost respect for everyone and myself. I didn't think I had a problem and everytime someone tried talking to me about it I just got mad. I was in denile for so long. Then I ended up getting pregnant and realized that not only was I hurting myself but now my child that was growing inside me. I didn't want to put my child through any kind of hardships so I sought help. First I told my mom who has been there for me from the very beginning and through it all. Really if it wasn't for her I don't think I would have been able to do it. She never talked down to me in any way but instead told me that she believed in me and that I was better than what I was becoming. She's my rock and I love her for it. Anyways the point is that it felt so good to know that I wasn't alone. I don't want to say it's nice to know that famous people go through what I did but it's good to know that they have problems as well. To be able to admit that you have a problem is the hardest thing to ever do and getting help is the second. It was so comforting to see that I was just like those celebrities in a way. It really made me open my eyes to see that being famous and being a celebrity doesn't mean that you will not be suseptible to drugs and the powerful addiction they bring with them. Thank you so much for doing the show and showing people that there is hope and there are people who do care. Not everyone is against you and if you really do want a change it is possible. All you have to do is reach out and ask for it. I just believe that because you talked about and showed something that is very hard to talk about, it will make a huge difference. I hope people take what you said and showed them to heart. Not all recovering addicts are bad people, they just made bad choices. I don't like how people lable us and don't ever think we can change our lives after what we've done in the past. WHY?!? I think if you really have the desire you can change. All I want people to understand is that we are people too and we are trying to do what's right for ourselves.
So once again thank you so much for shining light on a very sensitive subject and making it known about something that people don't really understand. I will always love you and the work you do! You are a great role model and an all around beautiful person!

Yo,
I still can't believe you've never had more then a few sips of alcohol. That's crazy to me, not because "everyone" drinks because I know, not "everyone" does. But, most celebrities do. I mean, at all of those celeb parties and whatnot they have alcohol every two feet, I don't get how you go without ever drinking. Especially since you modeled. The modeling world is littered with drugs and I actually believe that you never dipped into that world, I just think you must have insane willpower.
I liked the rehab show, I just wished you had talked to more people while they were inside Promises, but I understood why you didn't, they were going through treatments and stuff.

Hey Tyra,
Could you have Laila Ali on your show? That'd be so nice and fun.

Hey Tyra,
I didnt get to see that episode because i have been busy with my newborn at home, but i do plan to record it on oxygen. I would like to actually ask a question instead of comment. On all of these talk shows we watch young people who go on due to drug and alcohol problems and sex issues and so on, because of bad childhood experiences but i never see anyone have someone on their show praising children and adults for overcoming tramatic and/or tough childhood experiences and NOT turning to alchohol, drugs or sex/prostitution. I just was wondering your take on that. Maybe you would consider it because i imagine any other talk show host would simply look at it as "no drama? well that wouldn't be interesting!" as sad as that is. Well i hope to hear from you. Take care

Hi Tyra,
I was only able to catch bits and pieces of your show on addiction because I have two young children but what I did see gave me a better understanding of what I am living with. I am married and have 3 brother inlaws who have all lived with my husband and I at some point. My husbands youngest brother is with us currently because he is an addict. I have spent the past 4 months trying to get him into a residential treatment program where he can go and learn how to live without the drugs instead of hiding from them in my home. I can not tell you how frusterating it has been. He has no job and is not on probation or poroll so there for he is not able to get the funding for treatment. I hope and pray everyday that someone will call and say that they have a spot for him and not to worry but so far thats not happened. I was hoping that you or someone out there may have some ideas as to what I can do for him. He can not continue to live with us and hide from his fears yet I cant imagine letting hime go on the street and watching him go back down that path. Im lost and feel like I have exausted all my options. I love to watch your show and I think that it is amazing how many people you continue to help. God Bless!!
always

Hey Tyra Banks, I realy love your show I have a baby girl who is a year and I tease and call her Talia Banks cause she's tall for her age, but anyways I watched your show about cosmo mag and I was kind of surprised by your actions. I mean you were sucking on the red candy like it was a man's member and you poored the lotion on your self in a sexual way. I was just a little surprised by it I mean your always talking about woman not having to be sluty to be sexy, but you were just acting kinda sluty yourself I mean don't get me wrong im no saint and I know what you did was nothing close to what i've seen on other show's I just thought better of you and I still luv ya and the show it was just a little shocking but the show was about sex so duh what did I expect.

Hey tyra, well your this show was great, and im really glad it showed but i may not have grasped it all correctly. i need your help desprately.
my friend samantha (i dont want to use her real name if thats okay) is a drug user. she will not listen to anyone. I have been her friend for 5 years and this last year in high school has been a huge experience i dont want to go back to. my friend started doing the drugs at the beginning of our freshman year and started drinking her dads wines and beers in middle school sometime. well anyways at first i wasnt really involved and i was glad that i was not involved because i didnt have to deal with the crap, but than they day come that i was involved and my life sky-rocketed down from there because my life was living hell. it just started with ecstacy and than some other pills she never told me the name of, shes had over 3 drug dealers and numerous amounts of cigerettes and cigars or "black and milds" as they were called. but than she started getting me involved, the first day was they day she tok the ecstacy pill infront of me,than tried buying acid. and then it got worse when she braught it all to my house. i told her "hell no" when she asked. she took it but then she jsut started making movie plans with me JUST so she could smoke, id try to stop her but nothing helped so the best i could do was make sure she was still living and breathing. than i grew tired of it. it just got me so depressed because i leaned on her for EVERYTHING. and then my grandma passed away in feburary and when i needed her most was when she turned her back on me. she started sleeping with my BEST FRIENDS! and than she tried hooking up with a guy i really REALLY liked after i told her he told me he liked me. it struck me sooooo hard and he has not talked to me since he said he felt bad that he almost said yes but i was still her friend for the whole month. i told my mother everything and she talked to samantha for an hour explaining what it can do to her and samntha just turns around and says my moms a complete B****. after that i tried stopping her more and started telling her friends what they should know and we tried stopping her. than we got into a huge fight and was harassing me at the mall and her friend, who is also a druggie, got into my face. tyra, i need help,i cant stay mad at her and i want to know how i can stop her. shes still like my best friend. i just want the old her back. what do i do. please help me. and thank you for reading this.

Hi Tyra,
Unfortunately I missed this show but I was able to read the recap.
I just wanted to say that my husband is in rehab now for his alcoholism and its not just hard on the person in rehab but their family as well. I am so proud of him for finally admitting his problem and doing something about it ... but in the meanwhile I am home alone with our seven month old baby boy trying to pay the bills and keep food on the table.I have to get up at 2:00 am and get our baby boy out of bed just to run a paper route so I can pay the bills while he is away(it's the only job I was able to find that I would not have to put him in daycare- which I can not afford). Right now were on day 19 of his 45 day stay.
I just wanted to say to all the other families dealing with the same problem that I am now: to hold in there it will be worth having your spouse back to normal and although you may be mad at them for leaving you all alone be glad that they are doing all that they can to make themselves a better person for their self and for You.
And for those coming back from rehab we are proud of you and you should be proud of you family too everyone has gone through a hard time and made many sacrifices during this time. SO keep that in mind when temptations come your way and don't let our efforts be for nothing.

Tyra,
I was watching your show today (about Random Acts of Kindness), and I wanted to let you know that I think you're doing a great job. You are such a positive role model for girls everywhere. You are beautiful, smart, confident, strong, kind. Also, you let girls know that they too are beautiful and that the most important thing is to be themselves. Great job! I've been a fan of yours for many years; it started in 2000 when my sister and I watched "Lifesize" (we saw it again this weekend and love it, especially the shine bright song). From there, I've watched ANTM, the Tyra Show...
Anyways, since I admire you and the work you do, I was wondering what goes into making your show? Do you take interns? What steps would be necessary to pursue an internship? I just finished up my first year at the University of Michigan and am interested in a career in communications, possible media-related, and I am looking for an internship for next summer. Thanks so much!!! :) Oh, and keep up the great work!

wow.
Tyra youre absolutely my role model. I adore watching your shows.
and drinking? I really dont get the point of it. sure, it might be pleasing for a couple of people, but i love the fact that you always stick to your own perspective and not let it get to you as it has for so many other celebrities.
I Love You Tyra!!

I think you need to stick to your morals and be a little modest on your show. I'm watching you right now and you bring everything back to you. You always make it about trya and make everyone else feel stupid for doing things you didn't do. well good for you that you are not a "alcohol girl" or a "drug girl" but just by saying that, you make people who do drink and do drugs sounds so much less than you. You are not above anyone. Stop fishing for compliments and thinking that everyone loves you. I know so many people that can't even stand to watch your show because you make everyone feel so much less than you.

Hiya Tyra,
I think you are amazing. I love you Tyra!! you are the greatest person i no, and i thank you for what you do xxx
