Gay Athletes: John Amaechi and Esera Tuaolo
Get John Amaechi’s book, “Man In The Middle”
Man in the Middle chronicles John Amaechi’s extraordinary journey from awkward, overweight English lad to jet-setting NBA star. Along the way, he endured endless obstacles to his hoop dreams—being abandoned by his father, being cut from his first college team, recovering from a life-threatening injury, playing for abusive coaches, and losing his mother -- while also protecting a vital secret that could have ended his career: John Amaechi was gay.

Get Esera Tuaolo’s book, “Alone in the trenches: My life as a gay man in the NFL”
After impoverished Samoan immigrant Tuaolo attended Oregon State on a football scholarship, he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers and then spent nine years in the NFL on five different teams. Yet he was "terrified" during the 1999 Super Bowl, when he was playing for the Atlanta Falcons: "not one teammate, coach or sportswriter knew I was gay.... What if one of those billion people watching recognized me as the stranger he had picked up in a gay bar?"

My skin makes me different.
I was horribly burned, twenty-nine years ago...People look at me strange, but I say so what...I am happy with who I am...To me I am beautiful and I love myself...I believe God is love and
love is God...I say if people are gay, happy and
love themselves, that is what should matter in their heart's...

hey tyra i was watchin your shoew tonight and i saw the people talking about how people being gay is wrong its not wrong im a straight guy and 1 of my best freinds is gay and then my other great friend came out to me cause he's bi-sexual... and i just want to say to the people who use God as a excuse to say homosexual people are sinners.
Iv'e been brought up as a Christian and i think that God's message is love, accept, and forgive
so if somebody is gay then by the lord he/she is still loved
and even if it is a sin god and lord still will love you sins are forgiven and i saw that chick say everyone in the twin towers on 9/11 deserved to die cause they are sinners the people that helped and died trying to save lives what were they doing in her opion i bet running around tripping cops and tyeing knots in fire hoses or something some pewople need to grow up everyone is not the same as them.

tyra,
Iam gay and I'm an athleat at Aloha High school and I was in love with the same sex and still will be! I have struggled with a tone of things in life but I'm learning to deal with life every day one day at a time! people make the gays lives unpleasent and stressful bye saying mean things and commenting on things about gay people but really I believe that everyone should be looked upon as who that person is on the inside not bye their cover! you know what I mean? everyday I try not to jugde those who dress funny or wierd, but it sure can be hard at times but I myself am working on seeing the inside of that beautifful hearted person instead of on what's on them and the outside! you know what I'm saying? any way just thought that I would tell you that! oh and that lady was rude to you and I'm sorry that she was rude to you! I hope that your week go's much much better for you! thanks for your time!

Tyra,
for the first time in my life I had never thought that I would fall in love with the same sex.It was during basketball season her name is Emily K. my basketball coach and two years has gone bye and her and I still talk once in a while and I still love her and I would die for her if I had to! My parents don't know that I'm gay but my mentor dose and best friends know too! What should I do? I tried a while ago but they didn't by it and now I realize that there have been signs because my mom's next door nieghboor had said that she thinks that I'm gay because I would write love letters to her daughter a lot and well yeah! what should I do?

Ok. That family that was on the show earlier is totally giving Chrstians a bad rap. Jesus Christ himself hung out with homosexuals, prostitutes, etc. As Christians we are called to be compassionate to everyone. I was simply appalled at their behavior. This is not how we are. I personally think that it is their life and they can choose how to life it however they want. I have some gay friends myself. They know my views, and they accept mine as I accept theirs. I am not saying that homosexuality is morally right. That family is equally sinfull as the ones they accuse. They have failed to realize that. Once again, I apologive for their appaling behavior. They have ruined the name of Christians. Also, if America is all big on "accepting everyone for who they are", then why can't you accept us for who we are. You treat us like we are crazy. For every person that forces religion on the un-religious, there are homosexuals that force homosexuality on the heterosexual.....

I believe that the phelp family is stupid for how they feel. i believe and God and have followed him my whole life but i am Gay. God is love and that is unconditional so they need to go sit down with all that non-sense. That is not how i believe God will want them to handle themeselves. The show really made me upset for the response they gave. They will go to hell for being judgmental. If you hate Homosexual then hate yourself for hating a person that God made and brought in this world. No sin is greater then another sin. Instead of hating us how about you say i love you and i don't understand but i am here for you. That is what Jesus would have done. You know so much about the bible you would know that Jesus hung out with the sinners, he just did not do what the they did. So quit contradicting yourself and be real. Sit down ad talk with us and you will know that we are the same, our preface is just different.
keep your head up yo all the gays that got so upset how ignorant people want to be.
Love don,t hate

I want to share something I wrote after watching this show and Reichen. Im a writter well I want to be one trying though.
The Gay Life
It's so not easy being gay at all
So everyone who think our life is just about clubs and boys well you're wrong.
All we want is to live in a safe place and be happy, thats all
Is that so hard to ask?
I'm so sick and tired of the rude comments and the threats
When will this nonscense end?
We want to be happy, just like the rest of the world.
Being gay isn't a big deal
Instead of fighting with each other lets focus it on something else like
trying to end the war
helping the homeless
making the streets safer
or giving our next generation a better education
Don't let them finish what we started
they shouldn't have to pay for our mistakes
This rude behavior must end

Ok. I guess I've seen enough.
First of all, there are no "big" sins and "little" sins. Sin is sin. Murder is no worse than lying, stealing, and cheating. Homosexuality. Man made word. Never saw it in the Bible. Really. I don't know what got into the brew, but you'd think that's the only thing God spoke about in His letter. If you'll really look through the Holy Bible, you'll notice characters who were close to God's heart, beloved by Him. Yet, they messed up. King David, Old Testament, had one of his own men killed because he wanted the other man's woman. Now that doesn't sound very Christianly does it? But, God loved him even though he made a mistake.
The Heavenly Father is a loving God and one of second chances if you ask forgiveness and mean it. David asked for forgiveness and truly meant it and he was forgiven.
A thief, dying on the cross beside Jesus, realized that Jesus was Lord and asked to be remembered. Jesus told him "Today, you will be with me in paradise." A thief! Can you imagine? Here are all these religious leaders meandering about and He promises a thief glory?
God's word doesn't show perfect people. None of us are. He shows His people continually try to be better Christians. He shows that a little faith can go along way. And, he shows that imperfect people can attain Heaven by trusting in him.
The next time someone tries to pull out Acts or Romans or any other book in the Bible and tell you that God hates gays and can't wait to send them to hell, well, keep walking because you are not talking to a wise Christian. God did not create hell for us and wants all of us to love him. That still won't make us perfect beings. We all sin and come short of the glory of God. It is through the grace of Jesus Christ that we are saved.
Sin is sin. Judgement is sin. No one on this earth is the judge and jury. We are to read his book and teach other's the only hope of release is by trusting and believing in Jesus. As I understand my Bible, there is only one unforgiveable sin, refusing to believe and accept Jesus. Now mind you, don't hate the messenger. I want eveyone to go to Heaven. But there will be those who will not be present and that is of their choosing.
There may be alot of you who don't understand this yet. Hopefully, I've planted an idea of who Jesus really is.
He is the one who came to die for your sins...all of them. He knew we weren't strong enough to do it ourselves.
You can't purchase it , you can't talk your way into Heaven, and you can't steal it. God knows your heart. He didn't come for all you perfect people, He came for the broken ones like me. I'm not perfect, just forgiven.
So, to all homosexuals, I want to spread the good news of Jesus. You can enter into His kingdom. The first step is merely to believe in Jesus. The next step is to read His word. Get baptized to stand up and show others your faith.
I'm not trying to portray a wishy washy God. God gets angry. But, telling people they have to change before accepting Jesus is just ignorant. None of us will ever be "good enough".
This isn't about bigotry or tolerance. God doesn't care one bit about being politically correct. He just wants you.
