Oh Natural

Tyra's Hair Stylist Lawrence Says: Caring for natural hair is not as hard as you think. More and more people are embracing their chemical free hair, and are doing it with grace.

I will say, "it does require maintenance," but once you figure out what works for you, it becomes a piece of cake.

The best tip for getting a style that works, is to select products that work with your hair type. A little research is required. Whether your tresses are curly, wavy, straight or wirey, just embrace what you have!

I have long THICK and Curly hair, and it is really hard for me to style it, because my hair is so thick that i'm not even sure if it's a good thing to put mousse, gel, and hairspray in my hair. Tyra if you could help me in any way by giveing me any tips on what to do with my hair and how i should style it i would be so happy that i don't get frusted over my hair any more.

Thank you

Good day,My hair is very fine and thin,it has also been natural for about ten years now and although I do wear weaves and extensions my hair is still weak.Is there a product or any vitamins that you can recommend? Thank you in advance....

hi im 14 yrs old. My hair is so dull.I need it britened up and noticable

Dear Tyra:

I really enjoy your 'social experiment' shows, especially the ones on race. They reveal all the stereotypes that exist in the world today. Whenever the stereotypes are revealed, I think there should always be some sort of dialogue to try to debunk them or at least show that not all people are the same.

Regards

PS: I really wish you'd wear your natural hair for once. You talk a lot about self-love yet you walk around with ten tons of fake hair on your head. It seems like a contradiction to me. Is it because your hair line has disappeared due to the years of gluing lacefront wigs to your head and cornrowing it back to sew the weaves onto your head? It's so absurd that people sew hair onto their head when they already have hair, all in an effort to have flowing hair like the Asians, Indians and Whites. Shocking. Doesn't seem like a self-loving act to me.

hey tyra first of all i want to say i love this new season and i love your style and your makeup and especially that hair it is great!!! but i have a question last year i had a nurves problem and all my hair fell out to the point were am balled now and i have no hair, right now all i do is wear wigs but its like am only 14 years old and people make fun of me especially in my school since am the only girl that wears a wig and its really stressfull for me becuase the only thing that i actually loved about my self was my hair and now i dont have it, people make fun of me and dont like me just becuase am wearing a wig. i just wanted to ask you if theres any store or place that you know that i can get a wig like the one bianca had on american next top model when they cut her hair of at a cheap price since am not rich and i cant afford it, please tyra help me! Tyra,
I've got one question.....WHAT IS UP WITH YO' HEAD? Girl I don't know if you're trying to look younger or what but those bangs are doing you no JUSTICE!!! I love you to death but everytime I turn on your show you look like you're in a bad Halloween costume. Your hair and your clothes are a lot of the reason I watch the show but so far this season I have been very dissappointed in both. So if you could please let me know WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON? :-)

Hi Tyra!!! I love your show. I know you get that all the time. I'm just going to be strait forward and ask the question: why did you all of a sudden go straight with your hair??? I've been watching the earlier ANTM shows and I really admired all the different hair styles that you have had, I was just wondering what had happened? I am no one to criticize, but the straight hair is just not for you... please let me know what happened. Sorry to have upset you in any way. It definately doesn't change the way I feel about you, your awesome!!!!!!!

Tyra,
I wanted to know if you could help me choose a hairstyle that would fit me best. I have long black hair but I'm really short and I have heard that you really shouldnt have long hair if your short beacause it just makes you look shorter. I wouldn't mind cutting it and would looove to wear my hair down more often but i also want to be able to pull it back when I want to.I'm just really confused so please help!!

p.s. I love your show!

Hi Tyra I love the show and I wish you years of continued success in all that you do. I stopped relaxing my hair in August 2004 and I waited about 1 1/2 years before I chopped off the remaining relaxed portion of my hair. Currently my hair is a decent length but I have run out of ideas of hair styles. Styles specifically that would allow me to look 22 instead of 17. The texture of my hair is kind of hard to describe. The right side of my hair has tight curls (when wet) and the right side has looser curls (when wet). When my hair is dry the curls dissapear unless I twist it. I usually braid my hair instead of wearing it out because the left side of my hair seems longer. I pretty much would like some ideas on what I can do in addition to braiding or twisting my hair. Any suggestions from you or your team would be most appreciated. Thank You. Keep up the great work Tyra!

Dear Tyra and Mr. Davis,
I love your show and love how empowering you are for women! I think there is a need in the beauty industry and the schools to give better teaching on highly textured/african american hair. I am a recent graduate from cosmetology school and feel very strongly about this. I have much more to say about this matter but I am pressed for time right now but be looking for more of my posts and hopefully you can help me out! Thank you for everything you do Tyra and Mr. Davis you are fabulous! I love what you do with Tyyas hair and i hope to be at your level or expertice some day!!!

My daughters and I love watching your talk show and ANTM we think that you are great. The problem that we have is that my children are bi-racial and their hair is so thick and curly.Istraighten it with a flat iron but the heat is damaging their hair severly. So my question for you is could you please tell me what products that I could use in their hair that wont dry their hair out or and that wont make their hair frizzy if they were to wear their hair curley and down.If you could help I would appriciate it and so would my girls then maybe they could stop wearing so many pony-tails.(I have tried almost every frizz and curl product out )

I would like to get a color and I'm not sure what would work for me and give me the edge. Can you recommend someone in Detroit, MI

Tyra, you're one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. But I really don't understand the blonde, greyish hair. It kind of looks like white girls' hair. There's almost no contrast from your hair to your skin at all. Please tell your hair stylist not to mess you up anymore.

Tyra,

I LOVE your hair! I watch your show almost everyday and each time your hair is simply beautiful. Where can I get wigs or extentions like yours?

Hi Tyra,

I love your show. You are more real than most people (esp. celebrities) let themselves be. I've read all the people needing hair help and I'm one of them. My hair takes well to any treatment. But it's so straight after an hour whatever is done comes out and it's flat. Too keep it styled I have to use so much hairspray, so it's sooo stiff and dry. I've never had a hairdresser who could cut and style my hair to look natural. HELP!!! I want fabulous, flowing hair. Where can I go in NY or NJ to have a professional help me without breaking the bank?
Save me from crunchy, crispy hair!!!Thanks in advance for your help!

Debbie

so my hair is EXTREMELY curly hair and i just dont feel like i look good with curly hair, it just doesnt look normal on me. It's almost like it is more curly at the ends then it is at the roots so it looks flat and then poofy. I love how it looks straight but I would love to just be able to wear it curly and not just in a ponytail, so i'm trying to figure out what products would work maybe? or what styling tools/products? any help would be GREAT =(

I am half black and half asian. My hair is curly. I've been straightening my hair for about 2 years with a ceramic hair straightener but I think it's been damaging my hair. I really wanna wear it curly so what's a good product to use if I wanna wear it down and curly. It also gets very dry and when i comb it and its very flat on top and really curly at the bottom. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Dear Tyra,
I live in Australia and i am half african and half indian and i've been relaxing/ straightening my hair since i was 12 and now im 14 my hair seems to be breaking off and falling out i would like to know how you keep your hair so nice and straight i've heard rumers its a weave but i dont think it is cos it looks so reall PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanking you hany.

Tyra, we watch your show a lot. I am a weave wearer from my heart. I stopped getting my hair relaxed in 2004 by order of my family doctor. I have very bad hair. I'm wanting to know what type of hair do you wear, and is it really $200.00 a bag? If so is there a layaway plan for it?

Tyra,
I need help, a year ago I got a perm (a huge mistake) and now I don't know what to do with it. If I use a flat iron it looks really flat but if I don't use it my hair gets really frizzy. Please help me!!
Kate

Hey,
I have red hair and have never dyed it. I love my natural color even though I was made of as a kid. I don't know what products or styles are best for my hair. Also I don't know what colors are best to wear with my coloring (I not only have red hair but blue eyes and pale 'pink' skin). I have always stayed away from warm colors and wear only cool shades and lots of black. I hope you have some advice for me.
Thank you.
