Witches and Other Controversial Topics
Do you believe in magic? Tyra met some of the 400,000 people in the United States who call themselves witches to explore their mysterious world of spells and rituals. Tyra, I watched thid show and in the show this lady gave this love spell and it is just to say that I wanted to try it and like she said 2 weeks later i met my boyfriend and i am very happy to have met him. I somehow believe that it is because of the spell, maybe it is not. Did some one else do this spell and did it work? It would be fun to know.

Tyra,
I'm very gald you did this show. This shows the many people who watch your show thats everyone is different. Wither it be thire beliefes, their sexual oranetation, or anything else. I am 17 years old, and i have been studying Wicca for the last 9 years. Many people confuse Wicca for Paganism,Panag's use their magic for evil and the studies of black Magic, while Wiccans use our magic to help people. I have dreams where i see bad things that are going to happen, but evertime i tell someone about them, they say it is just a dream and dismiss me for a dumb kid. I had a dream when i was 11 about the World Trade Centers being attacked, but since no one had believed me about my dreams before, i didnt tell anyone. 1 week after the dream, it came to pass. now i cant control these dreams, so i have no idea when another one is going to happen, i also cannot crontrol the time period that they come from. I've had dreams about the Salem witch trials in Mass. as well. i cant say i believe in god, but there is a higher power in this universe that bestowed me with this gift, and for that i am greatful, and i hope one day i can use this gift to help people and to save people.

Well, I dont know where to start. I think witchcraft is wrong and bad and of the devil. I'm not going to be a complete idiot and say that it is not real because i know that it is in fact very real. So many people take witchcraft lightly and as something to joke about but its not. [oh and for the person who said they are a satanist but dont believe in the devil or God need to think long and hard about wut they are doing because a satanist who doesnt believe in satan is out of theyre mind.] Anyways, not only do i believe in God, but i have given him my life and my soul. He is my all and i would be lost without him. I am also smart enough to say that because i am a christian does not mean i am perfect. No one is. I sin like everyone else, whether it is lying or murder, sin is sin. Many people ask how i can believe in something i cannot prove is real, but how do u know the wind is real you cannot see it nor hear it, u may here and see its affects in the trees but that is not the wind itself. In the same way I myself cannot see God but i feel and here him. I also see his affects on others lives and i say to myself how can you not believe in him when u see this. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the light. He is the only way to heaven. And not to brust anyones bubble you do not get to heaven by being a good person. There is a hell and it is filled with horror and terrible things and immense pain and suffering. For people to say that they want to go to hell is absolutely absurd. I feel deeply for them because they do not know what hell is like. Hell was not created for people but for the devil and his angels. I wish i could express to you how badly i want ot reach out to you. If you need help or need a drastic change in your life pray this and believe it and your life will be changed forever.
Dear God,
I am sorry for all the sins i have committed. I want to change and i know i need you to do it. Jesus come into my life and make me new forever. Help me to live for you. Help me to be a new creation in you.
In Jesus' name i pray, Amen. I love you all though i may not know you and no matter what religion you take part in i pray you come to know Jesus and that i meet u in Heaven.

hey tyra i'm 13 years old and don't really know much about any religion. my familly has been catholic for decades. but just a couple months ago i found out i have muslim family too.iwould have never known that if my art project didn't require some research on my backround. i read this book about teens and their decisions on what religion they will choose if they don't feel comfortable with the religion their family has chosen for them since their date of birth. in every single passage they would compare buddhism, wicca, islam, hinduism, and judaism to chritianity. i have lived in this country my whole life and i've never heard of wicca or any other religion that invovles magic. yeah sure as a kid i would watch stuff that witches were bad and my mom as a catholic says tha t magic is the devils work.personally i don't beleive that. there isn't alot of differemce between christianity and catholism (mind you)i feel as if the people and the country were trying to hide something. if it weren't for charmed on tnt i wouldn't know the differnce between white and dark magic.wicca isn't a religion that is bad . for what i have researched wicca is about appreciating life and mother nature and it didn't originate in the 1950's it's been around longer than chritianity.(but it depends on who you talk to)since the age of four i've been intrested in witches and everything that has to do with magic i just never new that it was a religion.now i'm confused. for the past month i've been researching wicca and have become obbsessed with it. but i can't tell my mom or dad that i don't want to be catholic and i don't know i want to be a wiccan or muslim or whateva. tyra I REALLY NEED HELP!!!

I must say that I have rather enjoyed some of these posts. I'm not trying to offend anyone in what I am about to say, and if you are offended, I apologize; as I said, it is not my intention.
Firstly, anyone who says that witchcraft, wiccanism, or paganism are wrong are ignorant to the ideals that these religions present. The main credo is "An ye harm none, do what ye will." The intention of anyone that follows these paths is not to be prejudice in any way. They are Earth based religions that do nothing more than seek harmony within the world. Unfortunately for those of us who do follow one of the aforementioned paths, and yes, I am pagan, Hollywood has chosen to misconstrue just about every aspect of the religions. It has brought out the "evil" that truly exists in every religion. Pagans, witches, nor wiccans have sold there soul to the devil. In fact, if someone were to ask us if we realized that we had done so, odds are our response would be that we don't even believe that a "devil" exists.
Secondly, to those of you that say the Bible says "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live", I don't disagree with you. It very plainly says that in Exodus 22:18 (King James Version). My response to this is simply that this is not the original translation from the original Hebrew. The word used in the original Hebrew was one for murderer. During King James' reign in England, he defected from the Catholic church, and began his own Protestant church. With this new denomination also came a new translation of the Bible, one that "suited" King James' feelings on the combination of religion and politics. This happened in the early 1600's, the same time period as the Burning Times. King James didn't want anyone to defy his personal beliefs and "adjusted" this one word to suit his purposes; he changed 'murderer' to 'witch'. In doing so, he facilitated the massacre of the Earth based religion.
Thirdly, the idea that anything that has to do with any of these spiritual paths is a tool of the devil to sway one to that "side" is ridiculous. Paganism, in the broadest sense of the word, is a religion that is older than Christianity, dating back to the Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Gaels. The Druids were around centuries before the idea of Christianity was even conceived. If this religion has been around for such a long time, how could it possibly be a tool to bring people to the devil? Even the image of the horned devil was taken from the pagan horned god known by many names: Cernunnos, Herne the Hunter, Pashupati and Pan. Amongst most of the polytheistic religions, he is a god of creatures and of the hunt. How a representation of these two things can be turned into the demon that tortures you in a pit of fire is beyond me.
Finally, if anyone chooses to call me Satan-worshiping heathen, let them. I know this is not true and I know my beliefs and stick firmly by them. Someone demeaning me is not going to change who or even what I call god and goddess. I also know and understand the beliefs of others, I was a Religion major at one point in time. It is something that has fascinated me for as long as I have lived; and yes that does include the 20 years I spent as a member of the United Methodist Church, being raised by a Christian family, and being under the tutelage of some of the most prominent ministers in their time. I studied various religions. Some made sense to me, others didn't. I chose accordingly...

I believe that witchcraft and other satanic beliefs or rituals is wrong. These things were invented to be tools of the devil in order to reach people and influence their daily lives. I am a Christian, and I am adamant in my belief that Wicca and other forms of Satanic worship are tools of Satan, that are used to trick people into thinking that Satan is the One and all-powerful God.

HI TYRA, I AM A SATANIST AND ENJOYED YOUR SHOW ON THE SUBJECT OF WITCHCRAFT. I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT, EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT BELIEVE IN A GOD OR A DEVIL, I DO NOT BASH ANYONES BELIEFS! I MYSELF REALIZE THE MAIN REASON WHY PEOPLE REACT LIKE THEY DO IS BECAUSE, PEOPLE FEAR WHAT THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND! SO, BEFORE SOMEONE DECIDES TO BASH SATANIST LIKE MYSELF, READ ABOUT IT AND GET THE FACTS, BEFORE THEY RUN THERE MOUTH ABOUT A SUBJECT THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT! ANYWAY, HOPE YOU WILL CONSIDER DOING ANOTHERSHOW ON THE SUBJECT BECAUSE I JUST WANT THE PUBLIC TO SEE WE SATANIST ARE NOT THE EVIL PEOPLE THEY THINK WE ARE! THANK YOU TYRA!

Wether it be black magic or white magic or something as simple as tarot cards or astronomy it is all of satan. I love to learn as much about it as possible so if I ever end up in a debate on the subject as opposed to the beleifs I want to be fully armed. I'm glad you did that show and I hope to see more like it. We all need to know what is out there for our own sake.

I enjoyed reading all the comments about witches. I've had alot of things happen throughout my life that makes me wonder if some of my ancesters were witches. I've always been drawn to everything having to do with witches; movies, shows, pendants, books, I also love going to Salem MA I feel very comfortable there. My lucky number and birthday is 13, that number has come up so many times in my life, even my boyfriend (I believe to be my sole mate) has a cross with the number 13 tatooed on his arm. It makes me wonder if there is more to it than I'm aware of.

Hey Trya,
I was very excited when I saw the show that featured witches. Now contrary to popular belief Witch craft is a religion. Most argue that they can't be becasue they are anti christian. The original religion of witchcraft was NOT, NOT NOT NOT, in any way anti christian. Just like the catholics witches, or wiccans or pagans, worship dieties. Mostly the GOD& GODDESS. I myself am on the wicca path, but still worship GOD. yes it is possible. I just wanted to say that i really enjoyed the show, and those that are posting negative blogs about wiccans, need to do correct research before they run their mouths. Most of the dumb shits that say negative things dont know what they are talking about because they don't have the correct information.

My issue that I would love to see on the show isn't about witches or anything like that my issue is with peoples judging comments about adoption. I placed my son up for an open adoption when I was 15 years old because I wasn't financially or emotionally ready to be a teen mother. Since my desicion that I made to place my son up for adoption I have heard that I don't love my son, I am an animal for giving my child up for adoption, and I have also been told that my son will hate me and that when he does I will deserve it for giving him away like he was nothing. But all these things that I have been told are untrue. I love my son more than ever and wish everyday that I could have given him the life that he deserves but I knew and still know that I can't. So this is just a part of my story and there are many more out there that feel the same way I do. Thanks for taking the time to read my story.

I honestly think that there is a huge misconception of Satanist and dabblers. Satanism (modern) is more of a self worship religion, rather thing sacrificing "Christian" babies to Satan; I think that you should touch up on this subject to stop ignorance.

Just because you've got double-eyelids or went through the surgery to get double-eyelids means you "want to be white." Well then Tyra, why don't you go attacking the orange people out there with their fake tans that are nauseatingly orange? Why don't you go accusing them of "wanting to be black?" So what are you trying to get out of this? That Asians feel inferior to whites? That everyone is "inferior" to whites? How very ironic. You're advocating it yourself with your weave. Maybe if you weren't so intent on finding fault with others, you'd realize you're a huge hypocrite.
Why is it that an Asian cannot get plastic surgery on her eyelids when a white woman can get surgery on her breasts, ass, lips, nose, and chin and everyone overlooks it? What about liposuction? Then again your no different from them. You've probably have all of that done. Of course you wouldn't admit it - your spokesman has to think for you first.
In general, I'm not sure if you know enough about your topics to be talking about them in the first place.
And I hate how you put down other religions as if yours is superior to the rest. I really had this open-mind when I thought of you. The words strong, smart, and classy came to mind. But now I see hypocrite and supporting propaganda. I am very disappointed and have lost respect for you as a good person.

I think you should do a show with the cast of Most Haunted, they just came to America(6-1-07), to visit Eastern State Pentatentiary,in Pennsilvania. The team has been to many haunted places that people rarely hear about, this show could open peoples eyes to the para-normal.

I heard from a friend of mine that there was show that focused on light skinned and dark skinned women. I wasnt fortunate enough to see the show but whatever went on, my good friend came up with the conclusion that Light skinned women are prettier than dark skinned women! What is that about? I'm going to assume the panel was full of pretty light skinned girls given the fact that the outcome of the conversation was in favor of the light skinned girl being the trophy! I am a very beautiful dark skinned woman and I want to get the chance to deffend my chocolate sister. Tya you need to have another show on this because its all about prefrence and I could snatch a light skinned girls man so fast! We need to talk tya!

I think white witches are just confused and they are just looking for something to do with out knowing the whole story. All types of witchery has something to do with the devil. All type of witches who know what they doing need to go to church and get some Jesus in their life. Im going to pray for them because they need to be saved.

Yes Miss Tyra witches r for real as a matter of fact i have never seen the show but i can relate to it, well my mother was murder by her dear
best friend in that fashion we were only two and three so most of the stories was related to us, but i remember vividly what had took place on day.We were all in the room and suddently we saw a frog came from somewhere immediately we were told to grab the salt to throw on the back however it got hold of my mother and turn
into a monster at once she
got sick everyone knew it was Barbara who did it but the twist of the story my stepfather who is caucasion he flew her to parish for the doctors they open her but her inside was okay and they were in disbelieve cause she was okay on the inside but her outside was deteriorated so they had no choice but to inject her and let her past away. I mean everyone was hurt cause she was so beautiful, she was warm on many occassion but like she was under a spell. Had he took her to the obeah doctor she would have been alive but he had no idiea what was going. I wrote u before asking for help to locate he was nice to us but the wicked woman stole from him
brought us to Guyana so we lost all contact with him,our identity, real father everything- i do not know why i told you this story. Any how the woman who it she ran mad and pass away. bye love all the time.

Tyra,
I think that it is very important to know and understand all spiritual paths. Information is the key. Witchcraft is a very ancient religion that has been practiced for centuries, the alchemists of yesteryear who experimented healing with herbs and roots attributed to many of the modern day western medicinal remedies of today. The fear and close mindedness of today’s society comes from not knowing or understanding these healing religions. As a practitioner of Vodou living in the deep south I constantly run into skepticism (that being the nice way of saying it) I can confirm that ‘magick’ is real, and what you make it. It is nothing to be feared. As in everything, from something as simple as ice cream to politicians- there are good and bad types in everything. It must be judged on an individual basis. Not stereotyped.
That is my two cents ;)

Tyra, Believe it or not my aunt is a witch. She can cast spells and potions. She is so convinced that everyone fears her for that reason. Infact she has placed numerous curses on me and I brush them off with the help of our God. He is there to love and protect us. I have had her do so much bad to me it's not funny. I just work through it and praise the Lord for protection.

I know this isn't going to make me popular but I just have to say it. I think a lot of the reason some are so upset on this blog who are Wiccans (those who follow the religion of Wicca) is due to a continued misguided notion that Wiccan and Witch are interchangeable similes when in fact they are not nor have they ever been. One does not have to be Wiccan to be a Witch and vice versa and Wiccans are well aware of this. So I am dumbfounded as to the continued perpetuation of this utter misconception that began back in the 60’s -70’s by our predecessors.
I am also continuously amazed by the extreme perpetuation that Witchcraft is a religion when it is not. It is a practice just like medicine and law are practices. Those who participate in Medicine, Law and Witchcraft are but mere practitioners of those practices. Just because a Doctor may perform CPR in a church during service does not then make medicine a religion. Nor does a Wiccan incorporating the practice of Witchcraft into their Religious Wiccan Ceremony make Witchcraft a religion. When oh when are we as a community going to stop propagating this entire fluffy bunny Bullshit?
It also amazes me as to the ignorance of self professed Wiccans on this blog as to Satanists or other followers of the left hand paths. Do yourself a favor and read the Satanic Bible by Anton Levy will you please. Members of the church of Satan worship themselves not the actual Christian deity of Satan. Do some Satanist worship the Christian Deity of Lucifer/ Satan of course but not all do. The vast majority are Levy Satanist. So, those of you who have made your erroneous comments on this blog regarding Satanist are committing the same offense that you are accusing the Tyra Banks show of committing as well as the Christian posters on this blog. Hello pot meet kettle.
I know this blog is old but damn when are we as a community going to grow up? We wonder why no one takes us seriously. Others outside of our community hold all kinds of misconceptions about us which we have feed them to believe due to our own internal discourse caused by permitting the spread of misinformation amongst ourselves. I believe that as a community we don’t truly stand up for reason but only merely give it lip service when we are so permissible about fluffy bunny crapolla and misinformation. To expect outsiders to take us seriously when we can’t even take half of our own community seriously is utterly asinine imho. Instead of speaking out against the ignorance in our communities and the flakes, fluffy bunnies, playgans and Twinkies we do nothing! Because to do so would get us screamed at as intolerant and heaven forbid if we decided to stand up for integrity and intellectual honest instead of putting up with (which is what tolerance means and thusly why I hate the overly abused word) all this misinformation. However by not speaking out we are just as guilty as the Christians who refuse to speak out against the likes of Pat Robertson, Jerry Farwell and Al Sharpton. For these men have become the perceived face of Christianity to the masses just as the likes of some flakey, fluffy bunny Wiccans have become the publicly perceived face of ALL Neo- Paganism.
That’s just my two cents. Your mileage may vary.

Barb,
what are you talking about?
Posted by: Jessica | May 29, 2007 2:03 PM
This is actually a continuation of the book I am writing! Everybody, Chrristains and Pagans, where's Dar Williams when you need her, LIGHTEN UP!
But it's going to get a little more personal.
Gotta do a little bit to make everyone at least smile!
So in the Spirit of my Personal Spiritual Guides and Mentors, LARRY THE CABLE GUY and DAVE CHAPELLE, THE WORLD'S ONLY BLIND, AFDRICAN-AMERICAN, WHITE SUPREMACIST, GOLDDESS, I HOPE THAT'S RIGHT, I say Git-R-Done and make plans to include as part of Moosemas a skit where I am a blind, white, Black Supremicist!
Any advice on how I might go about "Drawing Down The Larry The Cable Guy" and "Drawing Down The World's ONLY, PLEASE GOD, PLEASE GODDESS, Black White Supremicist."
That has got to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life!
Serious Mode Again: HOW MANY LIES DID I HAVE TO TELL MYSELF TO JUSTIFY NOT DOING THE JOB I HAD BEEN PAID TO DO?
Answer: A lot! I told myself that since "they" had bullied, picked on, and abused me when I was a child, it was perfectly alright for me to behave deceitfully and unethically to them! AND, YES, I EVEN USED MY SACRED SPIRITUAL BELIEFS AS AN EXCUSE! I TOLD MYSELF THAT MY RELIGION WAS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY SURVIVAL OBLIGATIONS AND THE IMLICIT PROMISE I MADE WHEN I ACCEPTED MY PAYCHECK!
And when I was doing that it was the closest in my entire life I ever came to doing something that I would actually consider evil because my job was to help uninsured people find find free mammograms and pap smears!
DEEP CLEANSING BREATH!
That was hard, and here's why. Hmmm...Betcha even Counselor Troi could figure this one out, childhood spent as a victim of bullies being publicly humiliated aseveral times a day!
And even harder to admit to what I did to everybody here, was when I did this, I E-mailed the following message to my former place of employment.
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Barbara Timmer. I was employed at the (DELETED BY BARB)from March of 1998 until March of 2006. I need to tell the truth about what I did starting in August of 2000 until December of 2003.
I had a very important job in that I was responsible for helping Womyn who didn't have health insurance and could not afford to pay for them to find free pap smears or mammograms. In April of 2000 I had a major Spiritual Awakening and found my life path and have since become a Priestess of The Old Religion also known as Witchcraft.
Once I found The Craft I put very little effort into my job. I only pray that no one was hurt because of what I did not do.
I have just had another major rebirth and The Goddess has been gracious enough to give me a second chance. I feel as if I don't tell the truth about this I won't be able to embrace all the Wonderfulness that has lately come into my life! I must have a clear conscience so that I can live my life knowing that I am being the best person I am capable of being!
Thank you for reading this.
The Brightest Of Bright Blessings!
Warmest Regards,
Barb Timmer
Talk about liberating! It feels absolutely wonderful to have an absolutely clear conscience!
And because I now have an absolutely clear conscience, I am absolutely determined to keep it that way!
Having high Self-Esteem is very interesting and in some ways contradictory, I really, really, really, like myself, but I also absolutely know that I am NOT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE!
Kind of odd to love myself so unreservedly while at the same time feeling an almost terrible Love and Compassion for All That Is!
And here's another set of questions from my own life.
How many lies did my now deceased mother-in-law, Rose Mary Timmer, have to tell herself to convince herself that her brother Al Lohmueller did not molest her son when he finally told her what happened!
Here's what happened. My husband told his mother that his uncle, her brother, had forced my husband upstairs, pinned him to the bed, pulled his pants, fellated my husband and without success, THANK GODDESS, attempted to penetrate him anally! My husband was fourteen at the time, and has always been short and slender, and this thing, who, is now, fortunately, in the Otherworld, was a fairly tall, robust, piece of human garbage.
When we told her, here is what she said, "Oh, no, that's not what happened! That couldn't have happened!
Here's what happened, Al probably did some minor thing that was an accident and when you told Barb about it, she twisted it all around, blew it way out of proportion and convinced you that Al had abused you!" Gee, I must have been performing Witchcraft 16 years before I even knew about modern Witchcraft!
You know what, folks, if I am that powerful...hmmm...one finger snap should bring about world peace, abundance for all, total healing of all diseased!
Darn, still have MS, didn't work!
And, yes, not even my Beloved, the man I fell madly and passionately in love with in July of 1984, married, and still makes my knees weak, even he Practices Patriarchy, Enables Denial.
How many lies does he, even now, have to tell himself, to justify the fact that he still hasn't dealt with many of his issues, that his behavior still causes me a lot of pain, that he still has major issues with intimacy? All the classic denial behaviors, passive-aggressive, refusal to face up to the pain you cause others, yourself, and All That Is.
And, how many lies did my husband's uncles and aunts have to tell themselves to justify keeping "the family secret."
Because, you see, THEY ALL KNEW! There had even been accusations brought against the abuser by a single mother who had two children and lived next door to al, she tried to blackmail him! There had even been hush-hush discussions about the subject!
And here's the kicker, when he called our home when Ken and I hadn't been married very long, and I said this, "DON'T YOU EVER CALL MY HOME AGAIN! AND IF YOU EVER SO MUCH AS LOOK AT MY SON THE WRONG WAY, LET ALONE COME NEAR HIM, I WILL KILL YOU!"
Sorry, can't resist a small amount of irony here, as a general rule, when a person phones somebody, they don't receive death threats! If I called someone and they threatened to kill me, the chances are pretty good that I would ask why, SURPRISE..HE DIDN'T!
I actually wrote a poem about that subject called "Bartered Flesh"
Bartered Flesh, to Ken and Kelly's Mother
You Bartered The Flesh Of Your Children.
Allowed Their, Tender, Sweet, Young, Flesh To Be Violated.
You Made The Choice To Look The Other Way,
Ignoring Your Child's Pain For Your Own Gain!
You Turned Away,
You Ignored The Truth,
Kept Blinders On,
Refusing To See.
But What You Don't Know Is That While Bartering The Flesh Of Your Children, You Were Barting Your Soul!
Not a pretty picture, is it? BUT...IT IS A TRUE PICTURE OF DENIAL!
It is because of denial that it is somehow acceptable to many, many, people that children are abused, starved, raped, murdered, forced to work as slaves, each and every minute of each and every day! It is because of denial that organized crime can exist! It is because of denial that people willingly, even joyfully in many cases agree to committ the legalized murder aka war!
HERE YE! HERE YE! KELLY MORRIS COME INTO THE COURT!
I, NIGHTSKY WEAVERWOMBON, WITCH AND PREISTESS OF THE OLD RELIGION CALL YOU INTO THE COURT!
HERE YE! HERE YE! BARBARA TIMMER COME INTO THE COURT!
I DO HEREBY CALL YOU, KELLY MORRIS, TO ACCOUNT ON THE FOLLOWING CHARGES, MANIPULATION, DECEPTION, COMPLETE AND TOTAL LACK OF SELF-RESPONSIBILITY, DENIAL, DENIAL, DENIAL, HELPING THE PEDOPHILES TO SWEEP THINGS UNDER RUG, PRACTICING PATREARCHY, ENABLING DENIAL!
HOW PLEAD YOU?
BEFORE YOU ANSWER, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING CHARGES.
1. That you did blame your 13 year-old daughter for the fact that you had no relationship with her.
2. That you did allow your daughter to live with her father, when you never had anything good to say about him.
3. That you objected to people treating you in the same kind of way you treated Barbara Timmer.
4. That you did psychically attack and manipulate Barbara Timmer from May of 2000 until she figured it out a few weeks ago, and has stopped you.
Grounds for the first charge. Kelly and I were talking about her daughter when I mentioned that it had been a long time since Kelly has said anything about what they had recently done together. Kelly told me that she hadn't seen her daughter for several months. I asked her why that was. She replied, openly annoyed, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT SHE WON'T RETURN MY CALLS!"
AND SHAME ON ME FOR ALLOWING THAT TO PASS UNCHALLENGED!
Grounds for the second charge. In the five years I know her, Kelly never said anything that wasn't extremely nasty, denigrating, and a real put-down about her ex-husband. She commonly referred to him as an idiot and a jerk!
SHAME ON ME FOR NOT ASKING HER WHY SHE ALLOWED HER DAUGHTER TO LIVE WITH HIM IF HE WAS SUCH A HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING!
Grounds for third charge. Quite by accident, I found out that she is now involved in a, shall we say, somewhat unusual relationship, with the man she lives with. Basically is is a master/slave relationship! To make a long story short, you never know what's actually on the other side of that link you just clicked on because it looked like it might kind of intewresting! I believe I was doing research on Gnostic Christianity and had typed in the name Mary Magdalene, which is apparently quite a common name for female slaves/subs/bottoms to adopot when they decide to live as a slave, etc. I have to say, I did find out a lot about the world of BDSM, and, I must admit, it was reasonably interesting! And QUITE BIZZARE!
Who Woulda Thunk It!
When Kelly and I first became friends she was living with a wombon, and even through she described herself as besexual, she stated that she had a strong preferemce for womyn. She even said that she really could never see herself getting involved with a man again! She even appeared to be a man hater, making remarks like, "All men are pigs!" Needless to say, I do not, and did not, share her views, and pointed out to her that my husband, who is a man, had given her a great deal of Brotherly Support, and had even done many things to help her during her move into her new apartment, including us using our truck to help her on moving day, hanging pictures for her, collecting boxes for her stuff from where he works, etc, etc., She sais she was sorry and should not have made that statement!
On this basis, I expressed surprise when she became involved with a man! She was quite annoyed with me and said, "Nobody else but you is surprised, Barb."
However, she posted on one of the message boards that she was surprised to find herself with a man because "I've always thought of myself as more of a Lesbian!" HUNH! Well, slap me and call me Sally, but could that be a
little bit of what as known as contradiction in terms! Not to mention just a tad bit dishonest!
Too tired to post anything else right now, I'm hungry as well. I know, I know, BARB FINALLY SHUTS UP! THANK GOD! YES, I, EVER SO SCHOCKINGLY SAID GOD! And here's why! God is just a word, just lioke Goddess! Why in the heck does it matter what name we choose to give The Maker Of All Things!
Grounds for the fourth charge. Doing everything she could do to manipulate and make me feel incredibly insecure in our friendship because SHE KNEW I HAD DEEP ISSUES AND DEEP PAIN CENTERING AROUND MY PEER RELATIONSHIPS! KEPT EVERY SINGLE WOMAN WHO WAS SOMEONE I ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT FROM PRACTICING WITH ME BY PSYCHICALLY ATTACKING SO THAT EVERY SINGLE TIME, FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THEY BEGAN TO BEHAVE JUST LIKE SHE DID AND BLAME ME FOR EVERYTHING!
I DO MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHARGES AGAINST BARB TIMMER!
1. That you did knowingly and willingly allow many things Kelly Morris did that you believed to be wrong to pass unchallenged, because you would have done just about anything to have a friend, any friend! You Practiced Patriarchy, Enabled Denial!
HOW PLEAD YOU?
I PLEAD GUILTY OF ALL CHARGES AND I PASS SENTENCE ON MYSELF OF ADMITTING MY WRONGDOINGS PUBLICLY AND CALLING KELLY MORRIS TO ACCOUNT!
IT IS SO NOTED THAT ON THIS DAY OF TUESDAY, MAY 29, 2007CE, BARBARA TIMMER AKA NIGHTSKY WEAVERWOMBON, PREISTESS OF THE OLD RELIGION HAS PLED GUILTY TO ALL CHARGES AND HAS REPAID HER DEBT TO ALL THAT IS AND IS FREE TO GO AND LIVE HER LIFE! IS FREE TO SHOUT HER TRUTH! HER TRUTH IS..LOVE IS ALL THAT MATTERS!
I offer this gift with loving kindness, deep humility, and soul laid bare for all to see! If it please The Maker Of All Things, may others learn and grow from My Pain!
Blessings And Love To All That Is,
From-you-know-who
Back to a little humor here folks.
Don't miss the next thrilling installment in the life story of the absolutely fascinating to everybody in absolutely every way, modesty forbids me to mention the name of the One I refer to!
Of course, I'm perfectly happy go give the "little people" an interview about my toilet habits. Have no problem at all about cameras recording my bathroom activities!
DANGER, DANGER, LARRY AND DAVE ARE TAKING OVER! BARB CAN NO LONGER CONTROL THE LEVEL OF GOOFINESS OF HER ALREADY GOOFY BEHAVIOR! SAVE YOURSELF! MANY, MANY, REALLY, REALLY, BAD JOKES TO FOLLOW!
Question: How many Ya-Ya's (that's the name of the group Debbie and I are starting, well, sort of the name. Trust me, you reallly don't want to know anymore!) does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Answer: I don't know, I can only count to ten!
OOPS! Suddenly have bad jokes writer's block! Any bad jokes from anyone are welcome!
EAT NOW
BYE-BYE!

First of all, I would ask each and everyone of you NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING I AM GOING TO SAY PERSONALLY! Yhis is not about my trying to attack anyone or prove them wrong or me right!
Because, guess what, Brothers and Sisters, each and everyone is absolutely right for US, no one else, just us.
All I'm asking is that you think, really think, about what I'm going to say! Don't automatically start to think of ways to prove I'm "wrong" and you're "right!"
That's not what this is about. I'm not going to draw any conclusions. I'm simply going to ask everyone a series of questions, questions about right and wrong, ethics vs. morals, tolerance, respect, honesty, open-mindedness.
I intend to use specific examples from my own life as well as some of the posts others have made. Again, I ask all of you not to take any of this personally. Because, in an odd kind of way, as I am saying these things to all of you, I am also going to dig very deep down inside myself and intend to be fairly rughless with my own self-examation!
All of this arguing back and forth has accomplished absolutely nothing! So obviously a different approach is called for.
So here goes. The problem is not what religion someone is or is not, the problem is The Patriarchy! For just a few minutes let's all allow ourselves to think about the real meaning of The Patriarchy. The Patriarchy is our current system which allows men to rule womyn! Not only that, there are a relatively few men at the top, so the vast majority of men are also ruled over by men!
For just a minute allow yourself to think about the many, many, lies the people at the top to the "man on the street," need to tell themselves to allow The Patriarchy to continue to exist.
Speculation about the number of lies that the men at the top have to tell themselves to allow themselves to make policies to enrich themselves and their cronies and to keep their power closely guarded.
How many lies did the Pope have to tell himself to encourage the protection of the pedophile Priests and the physically abusive Nuns to convince himself that what he and all those who participated in the abuse and/or cover-up were doing the right thing?
And how many lies did he have to tell himself when he had letters sent to the people who had witnessed the Catholic nun who had helped in the Genocidal Warfare that took place in Rawanda trying to convince them to change their testimony? How did he manage to convince himself that was the right thing to do?
And how many lies do the Isreali leaders and people have to tell thsmselves every day to justify stealing Isreal from the people who were already living there? Do they ever feel shame for persecuting others as they were persecuted themselves?
How many lies did that woman who told me on the bus that she "thought all Witches should burn, and, of all things, use her RELIGION to justify her hatered of me who had done nothing to her, to convince that was an OK thing to do?
And how many lies did the Congress of The United States have to tell themselves when they outlawed American Indian Spiritual Practices, which was AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION!
And how many lies did my mother have to tell herself so she could allow herself to believe that her arguement that the fact that the Vatican because they are a country have a seat on some kind of UN council and single-handedly blocked money and other aid for birth control information for Africa! When I asked her WHY she thought this was a good idea, her reply was, "We have to set high standards." When I pointed out the fact that she had used artificial contraceptives and had told all her children to do the same, why was it OK for her to decide how others to behave when she clearly did not believe usint artificial contraceptives was wrong, she said, yet again, "We have to set high standards." When I pointed out, as gently as I could, that she was behaving somewhat less than ethically and honestly she told that she wasn't!
How many lies did Hitler have to tell himself to justify genocide?
How many lies did this country have to tell itself when we allowed slavery long after it had been outlawed pretty much everywhere else! What about "All Men Are Createdf Equal?' Didn't they really mean that when they wrote the Constitution?
So, the question for each and everyone of us to ask ourselves is how ready we are to refuse to do denial anymore and become completely self-responsible!

Barb,
I'm going to lay this out in two different sections mostly for organizational purposes.
This is how Native American beliefs are similar to Christian beliefs.
1.Native American: We need to take care of the earth.
Christian:
God created Adam and Eve, and gave them stewardship over the earth. We are supposed to take care of it and respect it.
(refer to Genesis, the creation story)
2.Native American: Everything on this earth has a spirit. The earth itself has a spirit. Even the rocks have a spirit.
Christian:
This is, in fact, a biblical although for some reason many Christians deny it. Perhaps they are insecure in their beliefs. The only thing that separates an animal from a human being is the soul. Animals have everything people have, except a soul. That is why we are above the animals. In Luke it even says that the stones will cry out. Everything on earth, the earth, has a life force provided by God.
(refer to Genesis, the creation story, as well as Luke 19:40)
3. The belief in one Creator.
4.Native American: fasted when they went on their spirit quest.
Christian: fast when seeking spiritual guidance as well.(that's all over the NT and the OT)
--These are just a few examples. I don't know why the U.S. government did such horrible things to my ancestors. What they did was against the Bible, and probably had absolutely nothing to do with religion. The Europeans thought the Natives were inferior because of their skin color. Catholics do things that go directly against what the Bible says. I don't affiliate with any church because they all omit things that the Bible says.
Ben Franklin based some parts of the constitution on the Iroquois constitution. Here is a link to the Iroquois constitution:

One of the books I read is Awakening Spirits by Tom Brown Jr.

Hello Everyone,
Question:b Jessica, if as you state in a few of your posts American Indian beliefs are very similar to Christianity, then why did Congress pass a law outlawing American Indian Rpiritual Practices? If the rituals the Indians performed, as welll as thrir belief system was so close to Christianity, why did Congress see fit to outlaw their religous practices?
Can't quite grasp the idea that, as you state in your posts, American Indian practices are very much like Christian beliefs, why did Congress see fit to pass a law outlawing their religion?
After all, if the belief system is that closely related to Christianity, why was it necessary to destroy The Sacred Lands, and break every single treaty the United States Government ever made with the Indians!

Merry Do We Meet!
Meery Do We Part!
And Merry Will We Meet Again!
First of all I want to apologize for possibly inadvertantly offending any American Indians by using the term "Native American." I had no idea that American Indians found that term offensive until an Indian I know fairly well explained it to me!
I also want to apologize to all American Indians for almost making the mistake of lumping each individual's Tribal Beliefs together! Shame on me!
You know, with everybody arguing back and forth, trying to prove each other wrong, including me, I have to admit that at this point in time, I am having a good laugh at myself!
The reason WHY I am having such a good laugh at myself is...drum roll, please, is the fact that every single one of us, are citizens of Planet Earth!
Arguing the merits of Earth-Based Spirituality vs. Revealed Religions is pretty pointless because no matter what is done to eradicate Earth-Based Spirituality, it's gonna be a teeny, tiny, bit difficult...because WE LIVE ON THE EARTH!!!
And, no sarcasm intended, call it a hunch, it will be just a tad difficult to convince people that The Earth doesn't exist! And that's why no matter what anybody does to destroy Earth-Based Spirituality, they will never be able to destroy it completely.
Just look at the facts, as soon as it became legal to practice Witchcraft again, we began to come out of the broom closet!
So, go ahead, hit me with your best shot! Try to refute the logic of my statement that since we live on Planet Earth it's going to be a tad difficult to convince us that The Earth does not exist!
On the other hand, considering the fact that the Catholic Churgh only admitted that the Earth was round and revolved around the sun sometime in the 1980's, who knows!
Jennifer, you have very interesting and unique viewpoints! I would like to know what books you read that led you to the conclusion that American Indian Spiritual beliefs are very much like Christianity! I don't know a huge number of American Indians, but every single time we discuss our Spiritual Beliefs, they pretty much always say something like, "It seeems like we believe almost the exact things as you do." Not once did they ever tell me that their beliefs were a lot like Christianity!

Hey Tyra,
I love your show. I really like a lot of the subjects you bring up and the spirit and energy you bring. Your show covers a wide range of topics that keep women up to date. A lot of them bring reality into the picture also. So this is my suggestion. I am posting this in two places. One will be under controversial subjects and the other will be “If its on your mind, its on Tyra.” Let me also start by saying, I love how you do your charity work. You don’t just throw money at problems. You actually DO things for people. I rarely see a show on TV that if it is charity- money isn’t the answer. The attitude that society projects onto people who are in bad situations the immediate response is to shovel that person out. On your show, I can see that you actually evaluate your “Random Acts of Tyra.” Any makeovers, special interests, and special projects- you actually address with the right amount of compassion and help. Some other non-Tyra shows actually make me sick with the overwhelming amount of giving to undeserving people. I think you actually teach people to fish instead of just giving them a fish. I am sure it is very difficult for you and many celebrities with the constant nagging and begging people post, write, and call in asking for help. It is a simple fact that you can’t help everyone the way they want to be helped. However, I may have a solution to that problem with a show. It will not be the help some of your fans want, but the help they need.
I have read many of the posts asking for your help. There are so many that I simply can’t find sympathy or any connection to them. I may sound very cold hearted, but I am not. I actually am too giving of a person and have been taken advantage of many times and this has disrupted my marriage even. I have had to learn to curtail my desire to reach out to people so much. I can identify with many of your other fans that have posted for some help but it is on a very different level than the posts first mentioned. I believe you to be an excellent judge of character and that is why your shows involving helping people are excellent. For example, the Hurricane Katrina family that you brought back on the show and had everything fixed correctly. That was amazing. Many people would scoff and ask why the family did not have insurance on the prior house. It is well known, that homes in that area are older, in zones that are expensive to even extremely close to not getting insurance at all, and that several other factors come into play to disqualify them for home insurance because a very critical eye is used to write insurance business there. So justly, I can believe that a vast majority of people in that area could not get insurance. This was a wonderful and well thought out kindness done. This problem was completely out of this family’s hands and you truly like an angel saved them. Another example would be the prom queen girl. She can’t help that she comes from a large family or her level of income. She did a bold thing to move away from her family to further her education and life. Such a wonderful thing as a dress/makeover will make her have a memory she will cherish for a very long time. It will rank with her wedding day, the first house she buys, her graduation from high school and college, etc. Your picks for help are smart. Not to mention having old clothes turned to new for women instead of buying new clothes or shopping sprees, treating everyone as equal, inspiring each person to follow dreams. All of that is priceless.
The show I have an idea for would be to help out those people who need to learn to help themselves. You might even consider a series. I see that your audience ranges from young girls to mature women of all ages. A lot of your fans beg for help from situations that they do have control over. They just didn’t think before putting themselves in the situation in the first place. They continue to make the problem worse. They don’t want to work or find solutions to get out of the problem. Making these people open their eyes might be one of the most important things you can do.
Single moms love to post to you. Some single moms just want beauty tips, time tips, or just a show about their issues. This I see is a potential opportunity to help them in an amazing way. Finding successful single moms with tips/stories, a life planner help single moms plan for college or retirement show, a day in the life of a mom and some tips from a home teacher, professional organizer, fashion expert, quick makeup, etc. would be great. Money saving ideas alone for any family, how to use benefits out there set up for single moms, benefits for kids, how to get kids involved again into helping out and doing chores- all would make cool shows.
Other single moms just want you to sling some money their way or rescue them. It is really confusing to a logical mind. A show on helping talk to your sons and daughters currently in school no matter the age would be helpful to prevent this. A show focusing on actual members from age groups in schools suggested by a professional doctor- involving them in open discussion about the potential of dangers of sex, not staying in school, crime, drugs, etc. That would help for your younger audience to see their peers and open the eyes of idled parents. For the current single moms who just want help via money or a Tyra rescue from the hole they dug… lets have real single moms who are making it work. What are they doing, how are they addressing issues, etc. What are some options out there from the government? A lot of your single moms are currently carrying a child. How about adoption, learning to stop having sex without condoms or birth control or both if they are easy to get pregnant? What about not doing it with someone who is likely not to stick around? Addressing healthy relationship issues for young people, making women understand that YES, it takes two to make a baby, it isn’t all her fault, but she is the one with the bag… i.e. a womb. She can’t get away from that. She can only think for herself and really make sure what she is doing and if she is investing herself with a good guy. Does she think this guy is worth her? Then how about the Department of Economic Security? I went down to that place once and it was extremely EMPTY. It was a good size building and about three other people were there. Get jobs single moms! Who will watch your kids? Rally together in community groups. Pick one or two women to stay home to watch X amount of kids. Each mom gives X amount of earnings to the stay at home moms. Having more than one and even rotating it because a mom can work a 36 hr week and still get benefits allows moms to watch each other take care of the babies. The government also has assistance for child care in many states. If you are a single mom of one, don’t do it again! Stop! Don’t have another. Why can’t a show or a series of shows address these senseless single moms and commend the single moms that have their acts together.
I know a lot of single moms who bust their buns and don’t complain. They take up the responsibility and go. Lets show those single moms on TV and teach the ones that beg on your website for rescue.
There are a lot of people out there posting help for surgeries, cosmetic help, want a car, don’t have this or that. These people as a vast majority also need to wake up. If you are overweight you can lose it by yourself. I have seen with my own two eyes a woman who weighed 500+ lose it with Weight Watchers down to 200lbs. WW is moderation. It took a long time – 2 years, but she did it. She faced a lot of hard factors against her. She is blind, poor, and widowed but she still did it. If you have stretch marks- so what! That is what Tyra has been saying so get the message. If you are poor, get a job. I am sick of hearing about a student who only works two days a week and is poor, someone who can’t get work without a car- walk, ride a bike, use the bus, get online and find something, and the honestly poor girl who’s mother is pregnant and expects her daughter to support her. Stop worrying daughter. Your mom is a fool. She is the one who got pregnant- she’s been around long enough to take care of her own this far. You are not the parent she is. Just take care of you. I’d report her to the state for child abuse and the father too.
All of these people need to wake up and just stand up for themselves. A show discussing cause and effect or responsibility might fit in. No one wants to get up and DO, they just wait for someone else and no one is coming. They don’t warrant the help. They made their own problems. Their problems are not a big deal (i.e. stretch marks vs. H. Katrina Victims), the problems can be solved with their own motivation and hard work, they need to stop plaguing society, rich people, celebrities, and charitable organizations that are already focusing on real life problems.
I know as soon as I post this there will be a lot of people who will not like the way I address this and think that truly I am unkind. People will think I am rich, I don’t know what they have been through, I am out of mind, etc. To the contrary, I am not rich, I have had and still have a great deal of ordeals that can stand up next to other strife stories and knock them down flat. It isn’t about who has the worse story. It is about what you do with what God hands you or if you don’t want to believe in God, it is what life hands you. Everyone gets handed bad and horrible things in life. Some are worse than others. I like to believe that God only throws at you what you can handle. It seems like to me the day I was born, God had a huge lot in store for me. I have gone through so much mess that I wished so many times that death would take me or I even tried to commit suicide many times. I seem to be impervious to death. God still wants me here. I look back at all I have done and dealt with and am glad of it. It was hell. I am a better person for it. I worked hard. I refused to make my situations worse or at least tried to always make the better decisions. I made mistakes, sometimes was bitter, and never was I perfect, but I came out on top and am still standing. I was and still am determined to better myself everyday. I face horrible things even now. Not as bad as the past. That is because I have learned to prepare, concrete good relationships with good people, delayed life choices, leaped to challenges out of my bounds. My nickname at one of my jobs was Tractor. I plowed through any object and person to get what I needed and wanted immediately to make myself successful. Perhaps some of these people just need to learn to put the petty problems or the big problems out of their heads and move on. Refuse to see brick walls and just make a path. People just need to keep going and going until they hit what they need. That may be the type of show(s) some of these people need.
I know we all would love to be instantly transported out of the world each of us live in today. It seems so wonderful to think about a lot of money, big houses, shopping, no pain, not a single care, even freedom. It’s not that way. You can win the lottery, have Tyra give you a bundle of money, or just have the chance to yell, “Do Over!” Problems follow you no matter how far you go. They may change and take different shapes or even manifest into demons you can’t control because you didn’t confront them head on. It’s okay to lie down and have a little dream before you go to sleep. There is nothing wrong with the desire to prosper. It is what makes us keep going. When you wake up, you still have to work for it in the end.
Thanks Tyra. I hope I didn’t offend anyone with my opinions too much. I really just wish people would learn to do for themselves. Then they could be their own heroes/heroines.

hi tyra,
i am a young adult in search of a higher self. after many years of personal greif and depression i have come to find that the spirituality and living ways of paganism very enlightening. no longer am i scrutinized by the dogmas of my heavy bible and the people who repeatedly "thumped" it upon me. i do believe though, that christians who are spiritually connected to god and not to just take their sins away are kind and respectful people. the thing about christianity and the wiccan befief is the emanciating gap that is very clear---god was created by a woman THE GODDESS , for the position of the role of GOD. its a very long and debated topic and i feel that people should understand that the wicca and other wise ones across the world were put here for a very good reason---to remember that there is a woman who watches and guides us through the darkness of night and keeps us as a mother would. i am an aboriginal of manitoba and i feel that even though i am wiccan, my own people have come to beleive that i myself am evil because i have different words for the same things that natives worship. grandmother and grandfathers... they are my goodesses and gods. i pray inside a circle as they do and i am humble in my doings... and yet they still disriminate. i feel so frustrated sometimes because they choose no to know what i do or worship. they would much rather stand from afar and whisper amongst themselves instead of accepting me.
thanks for letting me say that.

Well Met Tyra,
My name is Jennifer Wright and I own and run a Free Pagan Ezine named PaganPages (PaganPages.org). Our magazine is a way to spread the word on many paths and thoughts in helping educate people and gain acceptance. We are featuring an article this month about your show on witchcraft. It is an article that portrays how many of us in the magickal community felt about your program. I am hoping you will take the time to read it. The article can be found at http://paganpages.org/17ra_1.php.
I very much enjoy your show and all you do. Your thoughts and views are very fresh and I believe you have made many women feel much better about themselves. From the way you portray yourself and the honesty that comes across I believe you would care about our reactions and gain from reading this article. I was surprised by this show and the lack of research.
Thank you for your time. Keep up the amazing work. You truly are one of the world's most beautiful women, and that means from the inside out!
GlitteryBlessingsandLove,

Barb,
You know absolutely nothing about me except perhaps things that I have written on here, and the only purpose in writing them was clarification.
I think well of myself, and I treat others with respect. We were talking about history.
As a Christian I believe in treating everyone well. that is why I don't hate homosexuals, whether or not I think it is wrong, and also why I treat everyone the same regardless of what they look like or believe. You were deliberately slandering my beliefs, I have yet to have done that to you.
I already explained how Native American spirituality is similar to things written in the Bible. In the Bible it says that we are to be stewards of the earth. That means we are to take care of it and respect it. Also, the belief that animals have spirits is also biblical. We have the mind, heart, body, spirit and soul (as humans). It stops at spirit for animals and plants and rocks. They also believe in only One Creator. That is biblical.
I'm not arguing with you anymore. You can believe what you want to believe, I know the truth. I have studied my historical culture (native american) and I have read more than two books in the Bible. I also know much about wicca because I used to be wiccan. and I do not attack your beliefs.

I have always thought Tyra was the best talk show host there is and does an excellent job with excellent subjects. I was suprised to see that the show on Witches did not do enough research, the interviewing seemed to reflect sensationalism as well.
As a Spiritualist and studying Wicca, I was appalled first of all that Satanists were included on the show. We are all SO TIRED of the media incorporating Satanists with Witchcraft !!! Satanists are included in the many different and diverse beliefs incorporated under the name of "Paganism", but are by no means "Witches" and have nothing to do with Wicca. We believe Satanists should be catagorized with Christian religions...hear me out...as their diety is not in any of the other Pagan religions but is in fact a "Christian Diety".
The next thing I was upset about was including the woman who turned back to Christianity because her "Spirit Guide" told her to commit suicide. SHE IS OBVIOUSLY IN SERIOUS NEED OF A PSYCHIATRIST or knew nothing about Wicca, Spiritualism, or protection from spirits with evil intent (not demons or devils, that is "Christian" beliefs...yes, "Christians" are full of Spiritualism of their own type, to instill fear to "make people behave".
I personally am not a made up definition.. "White Witch" or "Black Witch"...there is what most people can understand..the term "Ying Yang" about life. There are so many "newbies", "power seekers", people with bad childhoods who never felt they belonged in the main stream, mentally ill, uninformed, money thirsty people who charge big bucks to "learn" about Wicca, and on and on (similar to Christianity actually), that I can see how easy it was to not have all the facts. So those wanting to learn Wicca have to sort through all the "bull" as well and may take many years before they get it right too.
Thank you Tyra for "attempting" to shed some light on the subject, however you DID try to sensationalize our Religion and for that I will try to forgive you. Can you imagine twisting the Christian Religion around and introducing mentally ill people on the show who said an Angel told her to kill herself? In many ways, you have not helped us communicate with ojthers what we are really about.
Were you doing a show on "Witches", "Wicca", or "Paganism"? Well you were actually doing a show on "Paganism", an all inclusive word to define a LOT of different beliefs. Witches are not necessarily Wicca. "White Witches", "Black Witches" blather.. is just that.
As a Wicca, I myself am disgusted with the fact that there are so many mentally ill or ill adjusted people who seek Wicca out, then I think of the whole world in general and realize that in ANY type group, including religious, these people exist. This is how you are able to so easily sensationalize any topic, as you did, and by some of your questions, and guests, it seemed purposfully.
I was disapointed in this show, the first time I have felt this way about any of your shows as I have been a big admirer of your shows. In the future I will watch a bit more intently, however, to see how you might manipulate, or are ignorant on, any topic a bit more.

Jessica,
Here's the reason we are having communication problems. It almost seems as if you are deliberately missing my point!
It's kind of like going to someone's house and you notice they have a new couch and compliment them on it, and they say, yes, we just remodeled our kitchen!
Thank you for explaining to me that you are Native American. Kind of puzzled about where you formed the opinion that Native Amnerican Spirituality is a lot like Christianity! I have a close friend, who is also my Circle Sister and whose grandmother was a full-blooded Apache! She didn't learn a whole lot about the beliefs, because her grandmother's ancestors had been force-converted to Christianity, but the little that she did learn seemed to indicate that the belief system is Nature-Based! And my husband and I often go to a shop called "The Dream Warrior." It is owned by a Native American man who is a lovely older gentleman! He and I have had many conversations about our beliefs and he has told me several times that our beliefs are similar.
I've also had long conversations with other patrons of his shop, who are also Native American, and they usually say how much alide our beliefs are.
There is a fairly well-known trilogy of films called "Women And Spirituality." It is about femminist Witches. And they also speak with a Native American Woman who is an Elder, and she also says that their Spirituality is nature-based.
But even though you only meant it was OK to take the land away from some people, I still maintain you must have low self-esteem, because when a person thinks well of themselves, they feel they deserve to be treated well, and feel others should be treated well also!
Blessings,
Barb

If anything, I hope that you will do a show on witchcraft just to educate people on what the real pagan beliefs are. I believe in tolerance.

I do believe in magic...i am a begining pagan...and so gar it hasd helped me to realize that "witches" are people too....we are no different than other people. It was also proven that christianity in a way developed from Paganism and old world religions...almost every single religion is connected by one way or another.

I would like to see a show about superstitions. I find it fascinating that some people still believe in the good luck surrounding the four leaf clover, the rainbow among other things, and bad luck dealing with the numbers 6 and 13, a black cat crossing your path, walking under a ladder among other things. Why especially is the number 13 considered back luck to have on a building level? Where do superstitions come from and why are they still so much of an influence in the present?

i've only read a few posting on this site , this is a really over heated issue. I am wiccan third gen. my mother in the last ten years or so has chosen to go to christianity. my husbands family is christians. we make things work. if every person in this world thought and lived with goodness is there heart, it shouldn't matter how you worshiped the almightly, everyone beleive in the power from above differently, the point of faith and belief is that we are never alone, and that a creator is there, we are all parts of a puzzle, each beliefs system and a major part in the puzzle, if we can put it together, we will find our way home, my faith has taught me that father sky/god, and mother earth/godess,(both parents are needed for life, and both parents should be worshipped not just the father) together as a team gave us life and like there childerns we are, all we are doing right now is fighting like siblings, our souls no matter what belief, will be safe if we carry good in our heart and love our family for everyone is related. im sorry for anyone that has negative and looks down on anyone, that person that you are hating could be that last piece your searching for to feel complete....Blessed Be

First let me start by saying, I love your show. Then, I can't stand when I hear basically ignorant people speak out about a religion that they have absoblutely no concept about. I was raised Southern Baptist until I reached the age of about 12yrs. I then converted to Wiccan, not because of magick, just the meer fact of how beautiful the religion is. As I grew older and my studies deeper into the religion, I realized the true meaning behind the religion and fell in love with it even more. What most Christians don't realize (or won't) is that Christianity was derived from the Pagan religion. If you do your research you will find what I say to be true. And how so many of Christian holidays came from this base as well. Back before we stole the land from the natives, the only type of medicine(healing) there was came from the land (earth). To this day, most of our medicines are derived from herbs (earth). Wiccans still believe that we that all we have or will ever have, all we are or ever will be, could not be possible without "MotherEarth" and the splendor she has to offer. As with any religion, you have many levels of devotion. You have the devoted Christian, at chrurch every Sunday and Wednesday, faithfully reads their bible everyday, and never misses the opprotunity to talk about their God. Then the Catholics, have midnight mass, candles lite, incense burning, certain rituals. The lists goes on.......I don't begruge any one their beliefs, all I asked is that everyone would just do the same and respect it as it is "our religion" no ones telling you your wrong just to leave it alone.

Correction on my previous posting:
The word should be "threefold" not "centerfold".
Hahaha...oops! Sorry about that! :-)
Posted by: Ley | May 14, 2007 9:56 AM
Hi Tyra,
I only started studying Wiccan this past year but I've found there are so many misrepresentations of the craft. We are not 'evil' and we do not worship 'satan'. In fact, we don't believe in satan at all...satan is part of the christian belief systems of good vs. evil. Wiccans believe in the power of good and evil in each person, you control what you do. And as for the girl 'Bethany' who says her friend put a spell on her to make her be rude to teachers, I have to say that is a load of bull. One of the rules of Wicca is that you can't use a spell to mess with someone's free will...because it just won't work. It's a way for the universe to control one's malicious intent. Also, any witch know of the rule of three...whatever you do, be it good or bad, will return to you centerfold - it's all about Karma...so unless you're just stupid, you won't set out to deliberatly hurt someone (unless you yourself has some desire to be hurt as well). People need to realize that this is our religion...it is not some episode of Charmed (a show I love, no matter how inaccurate, don't get me wrong), nor The Craft, or beloved Willow of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We are Wiccans...just as everyone else could be Christian, or Catholic, or Jewish, or Buddists...try opening your minds before you open your mouths...

barb,
I'm quite confused as to what you are talking about. I never said it was ok for europeans to steal the land of the native americans. i said it was ok to take the land from the caananites, who are the unregenerate, immoral people (and cursed). I guess I could see how that might be confusing because I didn't clarify very well that I was talking about Caanan.
And just so you know, I don't involve myself in politics of the church. I don't even go to church. So no one 'brainwashed' me. And I have no self-loathing.
Posted by: Jessica | May 13, 2007 8:56 AM
Jessica,
Few things made me sadder than reading that last post you did! My Goddess, the incredible self-loathing you must have to deny the truth about your spiritual hereitage! The Patriarchy has really done a number on you to make you say it's OK for the government to stal the Sacred Lands of your people! That statement of yours is like an African-American saying that they thought slavery was a good idea, or a Jewish person saying that the Nazis had the right idea!
Well, enough! I'm going to stop arguing with anyone, and going to do what should have been done in the first place, teach others about what our religion actually is.
This are questions for all my Pagan Brothers and Sisters. What Pagan path do you follow, and why? What do you find the most meaninhgful about your Spirituality? How did you come to know that you are a (fill in the blank.)? When you found your path as is common with so many of us did it, "feel like coming home?" How has your Spirituality changed your life? What is the most surprising thing about your beliefs?
My answers: I follow the path that has come to be known as American Ecclectic Witchcraft.
It's almost impossible for me to say what I find the most meaningful. Maybe it's the feeling of being part Of All That Is! Maybe it's the ability to embrace the Beauty of Her Creation. And of course, Goddess Worship is a big part of it for me!
I came to know that I am a Witch because my whole life I had always felt such a sense of The Sacred out in Nature and one evening in early 1997 I saw Riverdance on my local PBS station! Words cannot describe the effect it had on me! I only knew that it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever experienced and I also knew something in my Very Soul had been forever altered! In 1999 one of the New Year's resolutions I made was to develop my Spirituality. I didn't know where it would take me, but I was pretty sure it wouldn't take me to any of the Abrahamic Faiths, because none of it had ever made any sense to me! And one day a friend suggested we go into a local metaphysical bookstore, I said sure, why not? And we did! I bought the first, but certainly not the last book about Our Religion. It was called Celtic Womyn's Spirituality: Accessing The Cauldron Of Life. And that was it! I never had one single doubt that finally, finally I had found My Truth!
And even though my father would never have called himself a Pagan, he was one! When I was growing up we frequently took walks in the woods and my Dad would point at a tree or up toward the sky and say something like, "This is God to me. This is my church," and I would agree with him.
My Spiruality has changed my life at the Soul Level, perhaps even rewriting the very DNA of my very Soul, of who I am at the deepest deeper than deep Core of Myself and allowing me to understand the True Nature Of Reality!
The most surprising thing about my beliefs is that Magick works! And works well!

I dont understand why if someone is Wiccan or Budist or any other "religion" other than a Christian that they are considered a free thinking person. But if I am a born again Christian than I must be brainwashed. Iam a 27 year old woman perfectly capable of making decisions about my spirituality. I am not brainwashed. I am blessed enough to have something to put my faith and trust in that is not of this earth. We all will be held accountable one day for the lives we lived. But its a joy to know that no mater what I know what my eternal fate will be.
John 3:16
P.S. I dont think that I should be judged by the evil things other so called Christians say or do. We are all humans who sin and are all in need of forgivness.

Dear Tyra, I did not get to see this show but i bet it was great anyways. I have been studying wicca for about 5 yrs now. Although i have not done any spells i am fasinated about the subject. I do consider myself a witch. I also dress in gothic some of the time. Some people are scared of the topic because of bad reps and stories other people have heard. Witches are not bad people they just have a different view on religion. Thanks Tyra and have a good day.

Can I just say I'm sick to death of the whole 'my god can beat up your god' mentality? There is a reason we have so much hate in this world, and it is because people from differing religious beliefs cannot just coexist! A very wise woman once said 'there is nothing to be feared, it is only to be understood'
Why is it, with all the resources we have today, that people cannot educate themselves?
I was raised christian, and converted to witchcraft after researching every religion I could find.
Growing up, I was taught to fear witches and all religions that gave 'god' a different name or face. But once I committed to learning about all religions (I still study all religious texts equally) I realized that there is nothing to fear -witchcraft is not a scary religi
