Hello Ms Tyra
Love your shows, love what you have done to build confidence and self esteem. Over the years I have come to the realization that there is no difference between, losing and never having self esteem. During my younger days, I was unhappy with my body. My B cup breast and size one jeans was not an attractive look, so I exercised to build a little more muscle. No matter what I did I never succeeded in obtaining the physic of my dreams. At the age of 30 I dealt with unsightly acne and what an embarrassment this was.. I felt as if everyone was trying to connect the dots to make a more attractive picture upon my face. Plus, living in a town where ethnic makeup is hard to find, made things a lot more embarrassing. Up until this time, I thought that I was just a pretty face. Unfortunately acne can turn a pretty face into a bruised fruit. By the age of 35 I had lost 6 pregnancies and had a minor stroke. Due to several abdominal surgeries, my muscles and motivation has decreased tremendously. At the age of 36 I went from 108 lbs to slightly over140 lbs within a 2 years period. This was life’s way of showing me that I was no longer a young girl. The rapid change was something that one would expect after a pregnancy, but I had not been pregnant for over 5 years. I was a bit worried about the speed of the gain, but I didn’t get to the “I gotta diet” stage. Even though I am only 5 ft 4 inches tall, I accept the weight with honors. Honors being, all of the jokes and comments about the butt that it took me over 30 years to find. Yes, I was the black girl with no butt.. surprisingly but true. Due to this extreme change in weight, I was forced clean out all on my “mini me” clothing and purchase “real me” clothing. And what an expense this was. I felt as if I was working just to pay for life’s changes and medical bills. I am now 40 yrs old, (soon to be 41) and my weight mysteriously dropped to 126 lbs without dieting or exercising. And I have come to accept my experiences; the thinnest, the acne, the lost pregnancies, the weight gain and the life threatening stroke. Of course, some are a bit harder the accept than the others. Although today I can honesty say that at the age of 40 my only wish is to have reconstructive dental surgery and to become a parent. Although, I have come to the realization that dreams and wishes aren’t always reality. Reality is what we deal with daily…. It can be full of success and disappointment. But for those who appreciate the blessing of life, will eventually realize that life itself… is a blessing. And Tyra… you are one who has inspired me to accept the successes and disappointments of life. And for this…. I THANK YOU !
Sincerely

Hello Tyra,
I love watching your show. I have had 3 back surgeries in the last 2 years. The last was this past January and During those 2 years I went thru excrutiating pain and had to take many pain killers. Thus I lost about 35 pounds. I was down to about 115 lbs. I am 56 years old and my weight was usually between 145 and 155. I looked emaciated after the surgeries. I know both the pills and pain had a large effect on me. I am now gaining the weight back but I feel so old. I went thru some depression after the surgeries and did seek help. I still live with pain and am limited in things that I can do. I used to dress in the latest fashions and would wear heels all the time. I now wear sneakers all the time as I have a limp and it is hard to walk in heels. I just need a lift me up. Since I haven't been working, I can't afford to get my hair, nails, brows, facials done. I haven't bought myself a new outfit in a year. I don't feel up to it and I can't afford it. I Know there are people with sadder stories than I but I just feel so ugly and old. I like watching your show to see how happy you make women feel when you give them makeovers. As women get older, I think they need that kind of lift to make them feel good about themselves. I know we should always feel that way about ourselves, but as women get older, especially those with limited incomes can't afford the things that make them look better so they can feel good about themselves. I think a lot of your topics are great and informative but I wish you would do more makeover shows for women like me.
Thank you for all the good you are doing to educate us about many issues.
God Bless you and wish you good health.

Hi Tyra,
I know I am probably your 5000th email or more regarding getting a makeover but I am just hoping that somehow you are still able to read this. I am a single parent of two boys ages 8 and 11. I make them my number one priority no matter what but in doing so, it doesn't leave me much room to do anything for myself. For the last several months, my overall self esteem and self image has declined dramatically. I love watching your show and I appreciate the positive example that you are to so many other women like me. I know that working on my inside will be totally up to me, but I would genuinely be so grateful if I could receive a makeover. I love makeup (especially MAC Cosmetics) but with all of the financial responsiblity that I have as a single parent, makeup is at the bottom of my list. Please help me Tyra.
Sincerely,
Alicia Brown

Hi Tyra,
I know I am probably your 5,000th email regarding getting a makeover but I am still hoping that somehow you are able to read this. The reason I am contacting you is I am hoping you can help me get a well needed makeover. I am a single parent of two boys ages 8 and 11 but in the process always making sure that my children are my number one priority, that doesn't leave me much room to be able to do much for myself. I watch your show a lot and I simply love the example that you are to a lot of women like me. I enjoy makeup (especially MAC Cosmetics) but with all the financial responsiblity that I have as a single parent makeup is at the bottom of my list. I just want the opportunity to feel good about myself again. Not being able to do anything for myself has really lowered my self esteem and self image dramatically. Tyra, please help me to feel like a woman again. I know I will have to work on the inside, but I would really appreciate you helping me work on the outside.
Sincerely,
Alicia Brown

Dear Tyra,
I'm 28 years old and, according to my wonderful boyfriend, family & friends, I could definately use a makeover. I'll have to say I agree. My body and I have been through A LOT in the last 6 years. I got rid of 125lbs, had approximately 5 surgeries, including a tummy tuck, breast lift and implants and lipo. Some of the others included gastric bypass and additional abdominal procedures due to related complications. Ive spent a lot of time in the hospital, however, I made it through nursing school! Needless to say, I havent had much time to take care of my appearance, such as my hair and I haven't much style at all. I'm pretty much a nurse all the time, and I live in a pony tail and nursing uniform. My boyfriend is always begging me to do my hair, but I have no idea what to do with it and just this past weekend he and my best friend admitted to me that they hate my wardrobe and I need some help! I know they all love me, but it does make me feel bad, as I really dont know what to do or where to start! PLEASE HELP ME!

Sincerely
Cathy J.

Hello Tyra,
I love watching your show.
