My name is Kristen Cosnolo and I am 19 years old and I am writing to you to share a very sad and compelling story about a family that I have come to know and love very much. I met a women by the name of Diana Cantu age 36 and her family of believe it or not but 15 kids. I met her through a close family member of mine earlier this year. When I first found out that she had 15 kids I expected her to live in a big house and have a great job. But then we got to talking and then reality set in when she told me her story. Here are the names and the ages of all of her children: Joe 23, Kristina 21, Hector 20, Carlos 18, Timmy 17, Monica 16, Junior 14, Jesse 13, Mari 12, Theresa 11, Ricky 9, Ruben 7, Mylissa 6, Nathan 4, and last but not least Ray 2. I did not believe that she had this many kids until I met them all. I am sad to say that when I first met them they lived in a bad neighbor hood in a two bedroom apartment with bad water and a stove that didn’t even work. So one day she sat down with me and I had asked her to tell me everything she had been through and If I could live with them just for a week so I could have the knowledge of there very severe and sad struggle. This was my week with what I like to call “the over sized soccer team”.

First I would like to start out by telling you about one of the young ladies that has given up her education to stay home with her mom and help out. Her name is Monica and she is 16 years old. She dropped out of high school her 2nd year with straight A’s to help her mother with the kids. She is very intelligent and goal oriented and would like to do big things with her life but Is unable to pursue anything due to the fact that she is a second mother and a third parent to all of the children in the house. Non stop does she work all day to keep the apartment clean and all the kids bathed and fed so her mom (Diana) can start her day after another sleepless night of worries and tears on how they will survive the next day and how they will eat.

When I heard about her story I had sat there and promised that I would everything and anything I can to help them. Non stop every single day for the past couple of months I have gone with her to churches and shelters so they can get food and other necessities for their house and 8 out of 10 times she is rejected do to the disbelief of her story. I have done everything I can to help them out but my help never seems to be enough.

I am asking for help. This family is a loving and caring family and it hurts very much to see them struggle. Its hard for me too see them go through this everyday. Each child has only one pair of clothing and some don’t even have tooth brushes. All of the younger children go to the same school and are questioned as too why they don’t have coats or the right clothes for this winter season. I am sincerely asking for your help I am only 19 and I cant do it alone. This family disserves much more than this. While keeping faith and praying to god everyday keeps Mrs. Cantu fighting for her children but it just is not enough. Please help me in making this family start a new and good life. I hope that who ever reads this opens there heart and sees that this is not something that anyone should have to go through. I do believe that god has brought me to this family to help and I have given my time, money and love but I cannot do it alone. I’ve seen so many families go through this struggle but I think that if they don’t get help soon that the fight might be too much to handle for all these kids.

Please help me help them I would do anything to see this family make it and that Is why I wrote this letter cause I cant do it alone

Sincerely,

It would be so nice if you could do a makeover on an older woman like me. Age 67, just widowed, still working to support my myself. I try to do the best I can with what I have. I would be so grateful if I could get fitted for the proper bra.

All my years threw high school I never really got to take pictures because I was so afraid to smile. I am coming to Newyork on March 14th and I would really like to meet you.Even If thats not possible Hopefully I will get to take a picture(smiling) in your studios just to say I almost met you. I love your show and thanks for all the great advice that you give on the show.

hi
tyra i do not know where to start but i would love to go on your show and get a new make over i mean i need it i do not like the way i look period.

Dear Tyra,

Please, excuse me for my poor English.

Last week we had a make-over show on television over here in Holland. It was moving to see the reactions of those woman on tv. I really connected with them. I am a 35 year old Psoriasis patient (a chronic and generic skin-diseas) and was offerd a place on a show much like that here in Holland (Passion for Fashion by Dianne Beekman). It is a make-over show which ables familie and friends to nominate people who need a makeover.

Becouse of my skin disease I was in hiding for most part of my life, didn't feel like I could ever look good. I have several spots in my face aswell and tried to cover them up with the wrong kind of make-up which made it even worse. My sis was getting bored with that attitude and wrote Dianne an email in wich she explained that she was the one that was jallous of me becouse she had a size 8 and a had a size 4 and could wear anything but just didn't becouse than people would notice me and I couldn't hide my psoriasis.

If I had know in advance I would never have cooperated, but they supprised me... I was working in my new home and they just showed up on my doorstep. They took me shopping, gave me new hair and make-up, but most of all great advice! Like never wear purple or red (at that time my favored colours) because those colours highlite te red spots in my face or that I could wear that lovely dress just (for my own confidence) wear a legging underneath. The television show gave me lots of respons from friends, familie, other psoriasis patient (and even strangers) who all told me I looked great!
I learned how to highlight the positive thing about me (my figure and eye's for instance) and I still use the advice given to me everyday.
It gave me lots of confidence and me and my spots aren't hiding anymore!!! I know I will never look perfect, but i can look great!!!

Maybe it's a nice idea for a show?
Give people with a problem skin beauty advice, not to cover it up, but to learn to live with it...

With kind regards
