I was working at the mall and this really pretty girl came up to me and said that I have the "look" to be a model and gave me her card. She works for Nevon Management and it seemed to be not a scam, but I'm not sure. I went on line to find out more info on them, but I'm not having much luck. Maybe they are just a new company, or maybe they are a scam. What do you think? They called me twice to come to an open call in LA next week, should I go see for myself?

Hello Ms. Banks,
** My name is Porchea. I can't really express the passion I have for wanting to become a model. I know how much everybody is sweating you but please take another drop. I'am 17, 5'6, and look fashion. You have been my inspiration since I was very young. I'm plan to be the next Tyra Banks but instead it will be Porchea Washington. I not like everyone is else. I'm behind in my goals but soon to speed them up. I have to accomplish my goals because it's just me now, and some how you'll be seeing me in lights. Thanks for you time to read this.
From me to you.

hey, im shannon and im fifteen i've always wanted to be a model ever since I was like 11 I always wanted to do this and I've been practicing different poses and im always trying to make my pictures look really cool and model-like. I have natural strawberryblonde hair but right now it is bleached blond and i love that dramatic look of black eyeliner ad bleached white hair and pale skin. i don't know why but i always have. but i have a slight problem.. I'm only five foot and i really hate it. but my mother has told me that nobody is going to want me as their model becuase im so short.
is there places that will let me model for them being this short?

This is MIKE in the U.K I hope I can answer a few questions here for those recently commenting!
To Cynthia:
You may wish to put the agency name you mention into a google search it does not make good reading!
Enough said!!
To Brittany:
You are wise to be wary, as many so called agencies and scams do try to prey on the aspirations of youngsters and selling of dreams to parents! A quick rule of thumb is to ask for references and links to prior successes, in addition never pay out in advance for any agent/agency services, if they ask you for money up front chances are they are fake and very suspect!
To: Madison & Dayana:
Look into the term 'TFP' this is a good, recognised way to get a good portfolio started without outlay! Time for prints is an arrangement of photographer and talent/parents whereby photos are completed free of charge to help showcase the photographer and assist the aspiring model with good quality photos.
Always check that the photographer is legit in the same way as of agents ie: references, prior experience and be comfortable that you can work with them well ensuring Parent/Guardian organises and is present at all times!
Best Wishes from MIKE

Hey Tyra,
I'm 15 years old and live in the NewYork area. I have always dreamed of becoming a model, but I don't feel like i have the right look.. I'm short and not super skinny.. Is there a certain 'look' that modeling agencies want to see? and what are some ways I can build some confidence because I know that's probably what most of these agencies want as well - and I'm lacking in that dept.
Thanks so much Tyra.

Hi Tyra,
You have always been my inspiration. I was wonder ing if you know of any legitimate modeling agencies that represent women 30 and over. I am a 31 year old mother of 4, but I really haven't changed much since my 14 year old portfolio. Child bearing did not alter my body much at all. I always get mistaken for a teenager. I have done some modeling in the past, but could never get good jobs booked due to lack of a portfolio or comp cards. The agency that signed me (OTM), required me to pay for that and me being a mother, I could not afford to spend the $$$ on it. I know tha guidlines for models are ages 13-21 usually, but can they still sign you if you actually look that age? I know the agencies I send my pics to look at my age first and immediately denie me. I know there are agencies out there that do print, ect. for older women, but everytime I Google them it always comes up with scams. Also, do you know of any legitimate kids' agencies? It's the same with that also, when I research it online, just scams. I know a scam when I see it and it is really frustrating. My kids are ages 15(boy), 5(boy), and 3(girl). My 9 year old boy is not really model material..really cute, but too chubby at this time. My kids all have my features and look just like me..tall, thin, big blue eyes, high cheek bones and full lips. I know every parent thinks their kids are beautiful, but I know that mine are model material, not just pretty faces. Thank you so much and I comend you on everything you are and have done for people. Thanks!!!
