The problem is ,is that i don't know where to begin.I would much rather be a model. im katie im 13 yrs old. I have always wanted to model and when i saw you on antm i was TOTALLY surprised! i mean i had always been told by friends how models where b*tch3$ and then i saw you and you gave me hope and i felt horrible thinking tht about models!
i want to be a model but i dont know if im "skinny" or photogenic or even pretty enough to be one. but i would like to find an agency that would atleast try me out. i mean i would rather try out and not be chosen then not try out and wonder what it would have been. but it is SO hard to find a good opportunity here in iowa (where i live)
please give me some tips on what i can do!

First I guess you would like to now my name...SAKARI I am a 14 year old young lady wanting to ask you for a favor. Now i see that so many girls have sent you the same old story but mine is a little diffrent. Everybody is always commenting be on how beautiful my dark rich skin is, and how my long shoulder length hair just accents my face. Family and friends are always telling my parents to put me in to modeling and just recently I have had the desire to build some self confidence and work the cat walk and the camera. Well in the world today you just can't go to the first open casting call that you see so me I looked and searched but nothing seemed to be legit. Anyways I remember walking the mall one day waiting for my mother whom worked at Jcpenny to get off work, as I walked I came across a table with a monitor of girls and boys my age walking the catwalk (and they were working it)well I looked at the flyer and was like no it can't be it seems to real. Well not knowing my mother had already signed me up I just kept wondering the mall to my suprise she gave the news and of course I was thrilled. To make a long story short i got ready that weekend to go auditon, when I got there it was a big catwalk and flyer with some lines on it so I picked my line which I will never get "Fashion some people get it some people get it for less at Independce Mall". My time had finally come I grabbed the microphone said my line and walked the catwalk with my head high (because I knew EVERYBODY was looking at me.) I got my rubric and the judge said I had beautiful eyes, a nice firm voice, and that I needed to slow down and pose on the cat walk. Wow...beyond words I was one the first people to be called and I was led in a room with alll the other finalist (which happened to be everyone nobody was cut.) That's when my mother knew something was up she told that you said never strip or never pay any money up front, and that's just what happened we were supposed to pay $150 for being a finalist I think, and $25 for shirts it was just endless and that wasn't even the finals you had to sell 3 $50 tickets for family at the finals. So immeditally we left, they asked why but my mother never told them... That was the day I learned I just wasn't going to go model for some random people I know you have to start somewhere but I don't know I just dont want to be heart broken like that cause I thought I won when it was just a scam. Well I want to thank you for reading this post sorrry it is so long and I hope there is something that you do for us teen that want to model maybe a Teen America's Next Top Model.........Thank you so much.....with much love...Sakari..:)

I was so shocked to see this episode on how girls would just strip for their first modeling shoot and exceptionally in a hotel room. I was invited to pro scout. I am not to sure if you know about them, but they go around to every city and look for girls and boys for modeling and acting. I went and I had to pay big bucks to walk down a stage and show some pictures of myself to all the “top agents”. And all the money I paied for went to waste. I did not get an agent. Do you think I should try it again? Or is pro shout and rip off? Please help!

Hi Tyra, I'm 18 years old, 5'11, 156 pounds athletic body type, size 7/8 sometimes 9/10. I was wondering if I went to a modeling agency would they tell me that I need to lose weight. I really want to become a model but I don't know if I'm the right size for modeling because I've visted some of modeling agencies websites and read some of the models portfolios most of them were like between 120-135 pounds wearing size 2. I'm willing to lose about 11-15 pounds but I wouldn't want an agency to tell me that I need to be a size 2 weighing 120-135 pounds because that would most likely cause my BMI to be at an unhealthy level. I want to be a model that is healthy and not stick skinny.

hey, first i would just like to say that i LOVE LOVE LOVE your shows!! but i was just wondering if you could send me some safe websites for modeling agencies. this is very important to me because i want to be a model and ive always wanted to be one but ive always been too short. plus they would tell me that i weight too much. im about 5'4 and weigh 120. so i thought only magazine agencies would want shorter models. so if you could please send me some it would be greatly apreciated!! thank you

Hi Tyra, I Have a 9 year old daughter who would love to be a model. I have taken her to plenty of auditions and she has been chosen many times. I know you have plenty of people who write to you about modeling, I'm just scared that it may not be for her. I know she could be good at modeling it's just me. At one of the auditions she brought home a script to study she studied so hard she went to sleep with it under under her arms. Please tyra if you can offer me some tips or suggestions.

Tyra how are you? i am a 21 year old aspiring model from queens, New york.I am 6 ft and 175 lbs. But I never ever want to bring it to race but i feel as though there are not enough black models out there at all let alone black male models.. Thats just a point i think that should be stated more. But on another note, I have played basketball my entire life, went to college on scholarship for 3 years but i just didnt feel the same about basketball i just felt like something else was calling me and I had always wanted to model..And i am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. So i got back from school for the summer.When my friend who heads a magazine called "The pearl" called me one night telling me that her model cancelled on her for her shoot the next morning and she NEEDED me to do her this solid of taking his place so i did it and the pictures came out extremely nice. I've recieved great feedback, from then on i knew it was something i wanted to really do. Since then i have been going very hard to book jobs on my own through craigslist and other people i know with some success but i want to sign with a legit agency and get the top notch jobs. I believe that i can do very well in this industry and i can shake things up..i would love to send you some pics to get your honest opinion.. But What steps should i take to prosper in this game?

I've been searching everywhere for a nice modeling agency because I want to model, I mean I went to several websites like Coachmodels.com and got some very interesting messages from people in the modeling agencies, and they told me that they wanted me, but they want sooo much money that I just dont have to give, and I really want to do this. For once I feel pretty, and I want to go far. I've taken a fashion class, and since then Modeling was in for me, and I just dont know what to do. I am sixteen years old, 5'10 and 125 lbs. I recently attended a proscout invitational and got 12 callbacks! I was very excited but now i feel confused. I talked to this agency that lives in my area and they said most models have a Mother Agency. I was just wondering if this was true? I am fairly new to this and need some help. I understand so many girls want to be models but we don't accomplish our goals without trying our hardest. I have always had a passion for this industry. I know it is fierce and stressful and alot of work, but i know it is worth it. I went on models.com and saw the agencies ranked the best. I got two callbacks from the agencys posted. I don't know if i should wait to hear back from them or just sign with the mother agency and let them talk to them. Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.
