i love you're show and really respect you. i recently got involved with "Barbizon" a modeling school. It apparently started in 1939. I first saw them in the mall and decided to write my name down. They then called me and said i had an appointment that weekend. My mother took me and there was a huge audition, just walking down a make shift runway and reading a commercial. Eventually i was called after my audition to have a meeting with one of the employs. In their introduction they said they wouldn't pick anyone today and would call people the next day, but when we had the personal meeting they said they wanted me and that we would have to pay 1600 dollars right then. My mother was hesitant and the person processing the payments said that we could pay 595 Canadian and then pay the rest when i get to the classes starting next week. Tyra, i really need your help, it all happened so fast that i didn't have time to research. When i got home, i researched and there were lots of comments that it's a huge scam. I read other things and they say that you don't need to go to a modeling school, and if you do, you shouldn't have to pay. I was wondering, with your resources, if you could tell me if Barbizon is a good place. I live in Nova Scotia and there aren't many, if at all, modeling agencies. I thought i could do something with this, not nessecarly high fashion, but local stuff. I'm so scared that I'll waste my mother's money.

I just wanted to say that i love your show. I have always wanted to be a model. I have had actually alot of people say i should be one. I only have one problem. My family doesnt have alot of money and I dont think it could ever happen. I watch top model everytime its on. Even reruns. I would love nothing more (but jesus) to live my dream of being a model. I just turned 16. Im 5'9"-5'10" and i weigh about 130. I constantly look for things on the internet with open calls or anything that would make my dream come true. When i do i dont have money at the time and so i cant pursue it. Please help me out. You are my idol. I really wish i could meet you one of these days. My name is Mallory Osinga and I am 13 years old. The one thing that i want in life is to be a top model. But my mom doesn't believe in me. I no one of the girls on ANTM had their father hate modeling. She is a huge insipiration to me! I go online every day and look for modeling agencies in my area. But nothing seems right. I noticed one of the other girls on here said about the America's Next Top Teen Model. I think it would be a success. You should talk to your producers and see if it would be possible. Anyways... I watch the Tyra show every night it is so fun and helps alot of people. I know you probabley dont even read these or even write back but it would mean the world to me if you did. Your show is absolutely amazing, not just your talk show but America's Next Top Model. I have had aspirations to model and act since I was asked the question in kindergarten what I wanted to be when I grew up. I am extremely interested in all aspects of the industry. I have done some work and am trying to make myself well rounded in all areas. Although I have done some runway, my height is a problem. I am only 5'5. Why do you have to be 5'7 to be a well photographed individual? There are many petite girls that are just as photogenic. I want to thank you for your posts about legitimate agencies, it has helped me alot!

My name is laura and when i die (hopefully in 80 years from now) i want my title to be ' the model who changed the face of canada'. I recently graduated high school and i wanted to pursue modeling so i moved to toronto. It's a great city to start for canadian models. I'm having alot of doubts about the agency I'm presently with. Thanks to your show i did some research on it and I can't seem to stop getting a sketchy feeling about it. So I'm trusting my instincts and looking for a new one. I know it's not that easy, especialy because I'm 5'7 and 115lbs. My look is more editorial then comercial cuz I'm very unic looking. Anywais, my point is Tyra you didn't fit the norm of modeling when you started ( being colored and what not) and I doN,t fit the norm as well so I want to do pretty much what you did for colored woman to the modeling world but for canada.If you look at the top canadian models right now most of them have blue eyes and blond hair : Jessica Stam, Lisa Cant... Well in canada we are a very diverse contry so i want to show that to the world. You know how you look up to Cindy C. well that's how I look up to you. I know that making it in this business is hard but I'm setting myself goals and I know i can achieve them.I know i have good potential cuz I,ve been told by credible agents, so I'm not setting myself up for disapointment. My father is immigrant so he defenetly does not approve of this but that'S just another motivater to help me succeed. Well out of all the messages you get hoppefully you get this one cuz it would be great to know that you are supporting me too. i think that you showing how modeling scams ar ecan really open people eyes if you wna tto be a model you have to do it the safe way doing it like you did. you toke pictures well your mama toke pictures and you went to angency to see if they like it. if they didn't you left and went to another place until you found the one that would except you. adn that's how it should be done.

I just wanted to say that you are one of my role models and I think that you are a great person for all of the things that you do. I am an aspiring model and I have done my research on the business. I watch your show, and I am always studying every little aspect i can on modeling/agencies. I even work at a modeling school! But there are some things that I want to ask you personally because I know you have been to the top of the fashion business. First of all, Which is the best way to go, career wise, when starting off in the industry? I've heard going to an agencies door is one of the best. Or to hang out in public places, faithfully waiting to be discovered. But should you already have a portfolio in hands, ready to show an agent?, or should the agency do test shoots and make your comp. cards for you? I've heard so many different things, and every persons perspective is different. It's like the story of the 'Three blind mice' trying to describe an elephant. First I will say that i really love you and your show. You are a really good role model. I am 14 and i have been asked if i'm a model numerous times and a woman from an agency has even approached me about it. I'm not sure that i want to make a career out of modelling because i get really good marks and i feel that i could do many other things too. If i want to try modelling and see if i like it, and THEN decide whether to make a career out of it, would it cost a lot of money?? and where do i start? I'd like your opinion! Thank you.

At the gym people ask me if I am a model. I am 6"1 and 134 pounds and also a collegiate volleyball player. I would love to get started in the modeling industry but have no idea where to start. I just attended ModelsearchNYC and I wanted to know if this is truly legit. The only thing they ask you to pay for if you want, is photography, make-up and 2 outfit changes done by them for $445. Or you can do your own, but they have to approve the pics. If they are rejected, you don't get a chance to attend the free expo with 30+ agents. Is Dwight Agnor a scam? Tyra, do you approve of this company? Has anyone else attended any of these open calls?
