i just had a little comment about the whole acne thing. Sometimes if you scratch the whiteheads on your back or chest or even the dandruff in your scalp you can develop acne. I don't know how acne is related to these but it always happen to my sisters and my mom.

I have the most uglyest and biggest pimple ever the day of my wedding and your face cleaning methode realy helped.

Since I can remember growing up I have always had a bad problem with acne. It does run in my family though. My mother has severe scarring from it in her adolescent years and I think I caught the gene, lol. I really would love to have my perfectly clear one day. I have tried all kinds of products out there. My problem is very oily skin along with pores that tend to stay open so they catch dirt and make blackheads. I really enjoyed this episode and all your episodes in general. I would love for you to go undercover as a black gothic girl. I say that because I have seen a few african americans who are gothics. They get stared out a lot. I think people feel like , gothics is something that is solely from the white community. It's weird. Tyra I really need your help or advice. About two years ago I permanently tattooed my eyebrows. I absolutely regret it and have even gone to a laser removal expert and they said that they would not remove it because this could cause my hairs to not grow back. Your episode of your personal daily face cleansing routine was very helpful. For around ten years I have been going to the Dermatologist to receive expense amounts of tablets, facial creams, lotions and etc to clear my acne. Nothing ever worked - including acutane which is the strongest however most abrasive medicine on the market. After giving up on the prescribed meds, I tried your suggestion of Aveeno Moisture Bar (for oily skin) and I have had clear skin ever since I started with it. It's a blessing to find out the Aveeno Bar - long-time user of the lotion however never thought about the cleansing bar - thanks so much!

I saw your show on the skin care, though everyone has a right to their opinion, I believe people should be warned that vaseline is not going to be good for everyones skin. Vaseline is occlusive to the skin and personally it will never grace my body. It will actually cover up the pours of the skin and your skin will not be able to breath. Therefore your skin will not create its own oils that helps you stay hydrated. Not to mention it will not absord through your pours. Staying properly hydrating starts with PROPER skin care and what you eat and drink. I am just voicing my opinion because so many people will now run out and buy something that they actually are not educated on and can hurt their skin. People should be told both sides then they can make a informed decision prior to purchasing vaseline.

Hey Tyra, this show hasn't aired yet in the UK but i know when it comes to beauty you know your stuff and i need HELP!!! i suffer from acne and i feel like ive tried everything, my skin scars really bad and take up to years to heal and the bumps itch badly too, the way my skin lookes is really depressing me, not to mention that all of my freinds have "perfect skin". I sure hope you or any of your staff read this because I hope someone will follwup and contact me! It's about the use of Vaseline. Now, let me make it clear before I go on, this is my personal opinion but, I would be curious to find out results if you were to do some investigation :O)....Anyway here's my 2 cents....Vaseline is a petrolium based product (Vaseline Petrolium Jelly). Which is essentially alcohol.....which will dry your skin. Even though it goes on greasy and "covers" up dry skin, in the long run I think it could be making your skin worse. You said during your skin care routine that you have DRY skin. Doesn't it make sense not to put an alcohol based product on already dry skin? Vaseline to me seems to be a false sense of security. I do know of an amazing product that will feel like "Vaseline" that may be a great replacement without feeling like you're missing out on part of your long time routine. I wouldn't want to use your forum for advertisement but, if someone from your show will call or contact me I will hook you up. You will see a DRAMATIC difference.....I PROMISE!

Yeah, I read your journal recently where you're asking tips on how to make hands soft... so I've got something for you. Boil peeled potatoes in water. When potatos are done let it all to cool down and then use the water from potatos to get bath for your hands for about 10 minutes. I hope it will help you!

I actually do have oily skin and have tried cheap night creams and the really expensive night creams as well and they have all felt great til the next morning when I wake up with greasy, oily, uncomfortable skin and I gotta say that the vaseline works even on oily skin. Tyra: We all know vasaline contains Mineral Oil & is petroleum based. Mineral Oil & petroleum based ingredients are products of black crude oil. Mineral oil & petroleum is occlusive, which means it sits on the surface of our skin, clogging the pores, blocking their natural respiration & secretion process, as well as not allowing our skin to absorb anything good that we may put on it. For example, if you have a lotion that contains Vit. E,if it also contains mineral oil, that Vit. E isn't doing anything for you, because the petroleum is blocking its absorption into your skin. Yes, you do have fab skin, but what about those underlying wrinkles around your eye area & all those clogged poors the camera/gadget showed? Remember, occlusive oil interferes w/ skin functions. Oh, asphalt is made from petroleum, do you want the same thing they use to make roads on your face? I encourage everyone to do their own research. Thank you for your time.

I just have to question the vaseline it's made of petroleum jelly and petroleum and mineral oil are not good for skin, as i have been told. Anyway try carols daughter she has agreat hand cream and arbonne skin care. Both are free from petroleum and mineral oil.Great show again. Keep up the good work.

With all due respect, as a licensed skincare specialist(esthestician) I had to write you as well as your viewers and tell you how bad Vaseline is for your skin, but more importantly, your eyes.
Vsaeline is 100% occlusive
and should never be used around the eye area. The reason is because it will never break down with anything like soap and water. The vaseline could actually get into the eye and stay there for nearly forever. It is a petroleum
based product and not suitable for the skin at all. Only plant oils like
jojoba oil, almond oil, apricot kernal oil, to name a few,can be broken down with cleansers or soap and water.
While it may be cheap to buy, it as bad or worse than putting Crisco on your face. Please feel free to ask any licensed skin therepist or even Dermatologist about using
vaseline on the eye area, ask an eye Dr. as well, I am confidenet you will hear the same thing.

I love your show and I'm not a big fan of TV even. I have used vaseline on other parts of my body, but never thought to use it for my eyes. At the age of 42 I am more concerned these days with wrinkles around my eyes, so I am very glad for the tips and happily surprised that you use Aveeno too. I started using Aveeno when I was 16 and had a lot of trouble with my skin ( I still do) I learned that other soaps irritate my skin and dyes that are used in simple dish detergent or hand soap, and some lotions can cause reactions in my skin, so I am very careful about what I use.
I keep it basic and keep it simple along with that vaseline try pure honey to clean your skin. Honey is an all natural purifer and moisturizer too.

I watched your show today on the skinny on skin and I wanted to add a few comments. I am an esthetician which means I can give facials and offer spa treatments and skincare advice. I noticed your favorite product was Vaseline. I have to say although its your favorite people have to be careful when using it because it could cause breakouts on your face called Milia. Which is a hard mineral deposit that looks like a white head. Products that use mineral oil or lanolin can do that to your skin. If you get milia or "baby acne" you have to have a dermatologist remove it. Vaseline may work for you but it is not good for all skin types.

My Secret Technique

Buy the following 4 products - You can get all this for under $ 30.00

1. Clearasil Daily Face Wash - oil free formula 6.5 OZ (184g)

2. Edge advanced gel for sensitive skin with Aloe - Shaving cream

3. Clean & Clear Maximum strength Persa-Gel 10 - 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Medication

4. Gillette M3 Power Razor

How to use

In the morning ....

1. Spalsh luke warm water on your face

2. Put Clearasil Daily Face Wash all over your face and leave it for a minute

3. Now put the edge advanced gel on your face too - massage your face in circular motion.

Your face should be completely covered with the soap and the shaving cream gel mix - leave it there for a minute - if you need to shave use the Gillette M3 Power Razor which has 3 blades and an ionizer feature - this cuts away your facial hair very smoothly.

Once you are done shaving -mix the clearsil daily face wash with a little more shaving cream and do the same routine before the shave. Once done wash your face with luke warm
water and pat dry. Never scrub your face dry with a towel!

At night ....

At night before you go to sleep do the same routine but this time your probably won't need to shave after you are done washing your face. This time appy the Persa-Gel Acne fighting medication to your face. You apply it by smearing it upward on your face - not downward.

This helps the medication get into the pores more easily after washing your face with warm with luke warm water.

Warm water helps open the pores up making it easier for the medicine to penetrate the skin.

Go to sleep and when you wake up your skin will be much more relax and clear. If you have lots of acne it usually takes 3 days for you to see results. It does work! Just stick to it and follow the daily routine.

TIPS

Stay away from prescribed medication like acutane and all the other crap doctors try to put you on.

I've tried that and it does not work. The only way to lose acne is by
changing your diet, catching some sun, using the routine above and exercising regularly.

Don't eat hotdogs!
Don't eat greasy burgers!
Don't eat mcdonalds!
Don't eat too much pizza!

The vaseline is to not only moisturize the skin but also to moisturize the face, in the morning after you wash your face, use the vaseline as a moisturizer on the face and body...do not sleep with it, wash it off at night when you do your normal cleansing of the face before bed!

I just finished watching your show about skin care, Thanks for some great tips. I could not stop laughing when everyone pulled the vaseline out of the boxes. This was extremely funny to me because I have a cousin who will not go anywhere with out her vaseline. She has a jar of vaseline that is the size of a gallon jug of milk. She even rides around with it in her car. Every now and then she will use one of the little jars like you gave out. When she goes out to a party she will put that one in her pocket(thatjar is not all that small either). She does not care what people have to say about it as long as she has her vaseline.

I have a question, I dont wear makeup, I just don't like it, also I have never had acne and I am 21 years old. So I was wondering if it would still be good to use this routine. I loved the show today. FYI I do that dance too when I take off my make up and do the bathroom thing (washing face, Brushing, hair prep, flossing etc.). It seems to stimulate my muscles especially when you concentrate on the muscles. I also do that dance when washing dishes. I am always on the floor when your show is on. Why???? Well that's when I try to get my stomach crunches and leg lifts in. Take it from some one who use to be 200 lbs (and not pregnant) and now 150 (after recently giving birth to my daughter).

Oh Vaseline added to your favorite lotion (Victoria Secrets etc) is very mosturizing to the skin and the scent tends to last longer...

Thankyou for covering skin care on your show. As a mom who suffers from Rosacea I would have like to see how you would of treated that big deep sybaciuos?? pimple on the fellow from the audience. I suffer from those all the time. Needless to say I don't want to go out either so it was good to see that young lady get some help. In the past two years or so I have been getting scars from these thing's. I went from no facial scars to five so far and more of these types of pimple keep coming. I was given a oral antibiotic perscription but I only take it when they pop up and by then they get so big and disgusting so fast. With this in mind I have given up on myself as far as beauty is concerned and live for my kid's.I am also very heavy but it would be nice to walk with my head held up. Thank's in advance for any advice.Mary

What do you do about uneven skin tone? I have used spf 50 for 3 yrs and have used the european sunblock for over 1 year. I wear a hat and gloves when I am outside. I have used vitamin c serum, at home aha peel pads, olay definity just recently. I take my vitamins. I have used retin a micro low percentage, ance pads, postivately radiant body lotion, healthy skin for uneven tone by neutrogena.

The sun tan on my hands, neck, and face still is not completely gone looks much older, it does not match my body which has no tan, also have noticed fine lines around my eyes and freckles coming up never had before.

What vitamins should I take to repair my skin so it's my natural skin tone again or what cream or product should I use? I have seen a dermatologist.
Also I don't want to use hydroquinone(sp?)

But when I was a teenager, I couldn't use any moisturizer because it would break my face out worse. So I began using vaseline as a moisturizer instead.I thought if didn't hurt a baby's bottom it sure wouldn't hurt my face. I'm now 45 years old and most people think I'm in my late twenties or early thirties. So it does work.

when i moisturize [ since at the age of 18]i have always put moisturizer on every part of my body. I have always used vaseline, but i put a little lotion on than i mix it with vasiline.I also put it on my feet.I have very soft legs and other parts of my body are very soft[he he he].I got the idea from my daughter, when she was a baby i would put some on her, so one day i decided to start using it on myself.I figured it made her skin soft why not mine ? Just adding a line to skin care: Sunscreen!! it can be your best friend ONLY if you use the right kind (all natural is best) If you use the regular brands you find in the drugstore; you are signing up for TROUBLE and making your skin prone to cancer. http://www.newstarget.com/020237.html

Eventually these susbtances soak into the deeper layers of the skin after their application, leaving the top skin layers vulnerable to sun damage. For the person who doesn't know where to use Vaseline. I use it: (1)every night on my lips (2)I dab it around my eyes (3) I put it on my elbows (4)I put it on my feet and then put on some socks and go to bed like that, you will have the softest feet...it's a great product!

If you freeze vaseline it becomes the consistency of regular lip balm an it makes it a lot easier to apply to the lips (not as greasy). I just put it in old lip balm pots and freeze it overnight. It'll stay like that for awhile to unless you keep it in a really warm place.

I just turned 50 and have been using Vaseline for years, mostly to remove my make up at night. I guess that's why so many people say I look as young as 35-40. I also use it on my elbows and heels. It's a great, in-expensive moisturiser.

Hi Tyra.. I have been using vaseline to take off my makeup since I was 14. I am now 49 and have very few wrinkles. I started using it on my face this year due to dryness from chemotherapy. It is a great natural product that is good for your skin. Great tips today.
