MESSAGE FROM TYRA: Your Thoughts On Party Girls

Hi y’all,

“Secret Lives of Party Girls” covers a really important topic. I realize girls like to have fun, but there is a big difference between having fun and losing control - and losing control is one step away from losing your life. I might sound preachy, or like your mama, but I love you and don’t want devastating things to happen in your life.

What did you think about the show? I read your opinions and thoughts on the blogs, and would like to know if you think there was anything I could have done better to reach the girls on the show.

Let me know what you think!

hey i really luv your show it rocks my world

i love your show so much.i am a huge fan of yours and will love to meet you someday.

You asked us to comment on how you could have got through to these "party girls" more effectively. The primary improvement would have been for you and the doctors on the show to use the accurate terms for these girls. One of these terms is "ALCOHOLIC" and the other is "LOSER". They need to see the link between excessive drinking, future financial problems, future relationship problems, psychological damage and weight issues. Whether or not they are promiscuous whilst intoxicated is a moot point as we all know that most people either actively are or get into situations which create opportunities for promiscuity. I would like those girls to know that, university or not, successful starts to careers (at the moment) or not, their futures, emotionally, spiritually and physcially, are going to be so much more difficult and dysfunctional the longer they deny their tendancies towards alcoholism.

hey tyra! i absolutely love ur show! i watch you everyday! i think that you are a GREAT influence for younger and older women in the world! Your show makes my day! Your so outgoing and crazy and you are doing it infront of millions of people! You just dont care what people think of you and thats awesome! Keep upi the hard work

It was very heart breaking to see how reckless their behavior was, here in South Africa where I live young girls die from AIDS and their families stay behind with their many infected children.Maybe this problem is much bigger in my continent alone but I still fear for them because they have no idea what it feels like watching a loved one helpless and in pain.I just want you to know that if they won't listen to you we in South Africa heard you and we will be extra careful.Thanx a lot for your honest messages.

Hello tyra my name is melissa.I am a 12th grade senior at whitehaven high school in Memphis, TN. I want to know why is it that all of your models on america's next top model have to be 5'6' and taller. You say you are looking for diverse and unique models then why is there a height requirement. I am 5'2' and I had dreams of being a model or winning america's top model I told myself I was going to be america's first shortest model, but now i feel like that is only a dream now and not something I feel that can be accomplished.I'm not saying this is your fault or anything of that nature I know tall and slim is the way america views beautiful women, but short is beautiful too. So when is the change going to come?

Tyra im in love with your shows. im an advid watcher. Im alittle discusted, 85% of your shows are on body image. I recently tried out 4 antm cycle 10 in ft.wayne Indiana area. Im beautiful, confident, and feirce. im not a size 2 im a size 7/8. guess what nothing has changed its hipicridical that every top 10 girl WAS a size 2. you had ONE show ever with a girl of 7/8. I beleve this is why america hasnt fell in love with a winner is because even you the creator cant look outside the size 2&18. I know i was good enough to make the top 10, obviosly im not skinny enough. I still love u & everything u do 4 women and will continue to support you, your products and your shows. love Sandra Kurtz

HEY TYRA
WELL I LOVE UR SHOWS AND I THIK U R A REALLY GREAT PERSO U R ALWAYS HELIPNG OTHER PEOPLE I SAW THIS EPISONED AND LET ME TELL U IM 17 AD I USE TO BE A PARTY GIRL AND I GOT OUT OF CONTROL.I WOULD BE IN DRUGS AND ALWYS DRIK..BUT I LEAR MY LESSON I HAVE A 18 MONTH OLD BABY.

my parents have been divorced since i was 3 what should i do?!

HI,first let me tell you that i recntly started watching your show and i love it. also i'm a 33 year old woman,i have a 14year old boy and a husband that i've been with since i was 17 yers old.I had norplant(a form of birth control)in my arm that was suppost to be taken out 4 years and 4 months ago ,it caused me to gain about a 100 pounds.i finally was able to get it out a couple of weeks ago.but i still have the weight.i weigh 228 lbs.
i need to get back to my normal weight of 145 lbs. because it has cause me to be depressed, ashamed, try to avoid being out around people, makes me not want to make any friends, very moody, don't have any energy or motivation, out of breath very easy, caused me to have high blood pressure, hypertention, and the worsed of it all is my husband don't want to have sex with or even be around me anymore because of how i look and act now that i'm so fat.not to mention my teeth are so messed up because i can't afford to go to the dentist,so he don't want to kiss me.i've tried to apply for some help but its always the same answer, they say my husband makes to much money.which i don't see how since we barely make it every week.so i can't afford to go to the gym or dentist. but i would give anything and i do mean anything to look and feel as good as i used too.anyway i thought this would make a great show, that would help some women.i would be willing to be your personal project person.let you make me over!please i will to anything .i've tried to work out at home but i don't do well by my self now that i'm so overweight.well just thought i would give you a little info. about me and an idea for a show .thanks for being so helpful and nice to so many other people in the world.you're really great.
lots of love,
athena

Hey tyra,
i saw ur show oin party gurls..
i can say that i myself learned a lot from this particular show... i myself used to be somewhat like those girls.... i experienced a lot through partying and hanging out.... i have come so far... and now i realize the problems and the dangers we can all run into... i witnesses brutal fights and girls being harrassed by other guys.... at times risks were taken.... you always hear dont drink and drive... but in the party scene its rare... you always hear dont talk to strangers but that seems to fade in the party world.... your surroundings are scary ....if you stop and think about it... i am only 17 and its scary to think that younger girls all party and do things that can ruin them..... experiencing is what can help you realize the truth and the dangers that are out there... but unfortunately some girls are to blind to realize in time....

Hey Tyra! So I can honestly say I haven't seen this show cuz I just became a fan....but when I read the headline of the blog, I knew I had to write. When I first went to college this past year, I was not a party girl, and I still don't consider myself a party girl. But when I first went to college, I maintained I would never drink or anything like that. I held out until the end of the year. I drink on and off...not much and I've never been out of control. One reason I love my college so much is we look out for each other. We won't let each other drink and drive, and if anyone were to even try it, people would get very mad. I'm in a sorority as well and my sisters look out for me and I look out for my sisters. I guess the reason I'm writing is just to say I may drink and hang out with my friends sometimes, but I do know that I can have an AMAZING time with my friends without alcohol. I think you are just an incredible role model...I'm not sure how much I can express that. Thank you for just being there for young women who look up to you!

hey Tyra...
ummm i have something i have to ask...
ok if i like two different people but they both live like 200 miles apart what should i do??
i see one every now and again. and we have kissed before but nothing more... and the other one i have never kissed.... but i have heard hs is a good kisser.... they both say they like me but i cant decide...HELP!!!!!!!!
love,
sassy sarah

hey its me again, to see a striving maybe middle class single parent farther or mother making a way for the future of there offspring is what im waiting to see Tyra.because some of us have to start at the bottom and work our way to the top.i truly believe this would be a good show idea.when i look at the show the things i see dont necessary reflect me in an impacting way. i love the beauty tips and things for when im going out but thats not often.but im around the family alot things like discpline and how to save and finding great way to burn that energy the kids have when u dont have all the means to put them in activities. i have many ideas in this type of feild because myself and my family are evolving together and i want the best for the future not just mine but everyones.we live we learn we advance.
