“Teen Stars: Sex And Drugs”

Leif Garrett and Dustin Diamond were charismatic children who captured our attention on the big and small screens. Sadly, though, their fame began to deteriorate as they grew into adults, and these child stars became lost in a sea of sex and drugs. But they’re trying to get their lives back on track. Have you been able to overcome tragedy and misfortune in your own life?

I thought the show was very informative as to the things that can happen to young children that can cause them to fall as an adult. I WAS and STILL am an AVID Leif Garrett fan. Dustin Diamond was pretty cool also. I can tell you this, that I think it was great that they both came out to talk about their trials and tribulations.
Will their lives get better? (Who knows) They are the only ones who can change it. The only thing their family, friends and fans can do is be there and hope for the best.
As for the Lady 'Betty'. Who are you to judge anyone? Everyone deals with there problems differently. I am not saying that getting hooked on drugs is ok but,I could probably say without looking up the statistics, that ALCOHOLISM and OPIATE usage is the oldest form of self medication. I understand that you grew up in a different era and things were done different then.(SO YOU THINK). Everyone has some kind of addiction that makes them feel better at the end of the day. Be it FOOD, CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL or 'PERSCRIPTION DRUGS'.. I could continue with the list.
I am trying not to sound rude because that is not my intention. I am just stating a fact (right or wrong) DRUG ADDICTIONS HAPPEN....Instead of criticizing lets try a little understanding and to give EVERYONE in that predicament a little SELF ENCOURAGEMENT.
Thats how I feel about it and I have been there.
Peace

It's unfair to compare your life experience to someone else's. Drug and alcohol can be genetic. Who would conciously chose to ruin their life and career? Most children, child star or not, in the 70's and 80's didn't have 'Betty Crocker' mothers and 'Leave It to Beaver' fathers. I grew up in the same era and I saw a lot of smut on tv and my parents drinking and doing drugs with their friends, while basically neglecting us children. Then their's the issues of infidelity that our "libertated" parents bestode upon us and divorce. "Abuse" let alone "emotional abuse" were non-existant words back then, but it was rampant. So, to judge anyone who has gone threw hell like they have is wrong. Have some compassion next time. If you believe in reincarnation like I do, you just may come back in your next life and be a drug addict yourself to learn that lesson, so I'd be careful where you cast your stones in this life!

Your show about Leif is another example of "poor poor celebrity", and giving them excuses for their own bad choices. I was a child in England during world war 2. My childhood was; rationed food, blackouts and nightly air raids. My father was away fighting for 4 1/2 years.Neither my brother, my sister or I became drug adicts or mass murders. In fact no one I knew during my childhod did. So give me a break.
Be responsable for your own actions, and quit giving so many excuses.
