"Infidelity And Betrayal In Families"

After experiencing infidelity or betrayal, the hurt can be so deep that more than an apology is necessary. Repairing the relationship requires an acknowledgment of the truth and a commitment to help the person deal with their anguish. If you or a family member has been wronged and want to make it right, tell us your story.

This cheating crap gets on my nerves. The cheater is endangering the other persons life...because of the possibilities of Diseases, Mental/Emotional health & the posibility of the other person who there cheating with, being psychotic and coming after the girlfriend/boyfriend...wife,etc.

I watch your show one day and saw how you told this female to tell her mother that she can't see her anymore because everytime she see her she think about the hurt that she has been through. I know how it can be because I have been dealing with DCF for over thirteen years and they took two of my kids and put them up for adoption with out me sign any papers and they was illegally adopted because i still had rights to see them but I have not seen two of my kids for over six years now. I miss them like crazy. I am say this because I saw where a man on your show have not seen his daughter for over six years because she had him lock up. I don't think that is right of him. He should had spend some time with her even if was just pick up a telephone and call her or write a letter to tell her just how much you care and still love her. I just which I could see my two kids and tell them how sorry I him for what they are going throw and tell them that I am the blame for the pain that are having but I hope that they can find a place in there heart to forgive me and let be a family and go to a therphy who can help us move on and over come our hurt.

I was watching the show with the mother and daughter, where the daughter had been sexually molested from the ages of 7 to 9, the mother chose the abuser over her children, and the mother's response to her daughter's anguish was "Get over it!"

That triggered anger in me like I had not felt for a long time, remembering a similar experience from my own childhood and not knowing what to do with that emotion.

my boyfriend of more than two years has been cheating on me for the past five months. i have one child with him. i try to make this relationship work but sometimes i feel like i'm the only one working at it. and at times he acts like i should just forgive and forget, but he doesn't seem sorry for what he has done. i feel like he is still cheating on me.

Dr. Keith, I watched your show on infidelity and family betrayal. Until I saw this show and heard the woman's story about her mother staying with her abuser etc., I felt like the only one on earth whose mother stayed with the abuser. In my case, I also lost the rest of my family as well as the entire extended family. I was alone. I cut my parents out of my life by choice but the rest chose to go right along with them by neglecting to help me. I ended up alone in the world after growing up in a very large family. I am all the better for it and would never ever do it over differently. I ended up bringing a law suit against my parents. They went into hiding and I won. I won vaidation and confirmation that I am right. Sometimes, what is almost more unbelievable then what my dad did to me is what my mother, brothers, aunts, uncles etc. did. I even had an uncle who is a respected pediatrician/cheif of staff, and an aunt who is a nurse. Neither would help me. So once again, that you for choosing this topic and showing that story.
