The School Shooting Aftermath

Every weekday, millions of parents stand in their doorways or at bus stops hugging their children goodbye, expecting to see them after school. On Friday’s show, Dr. Keith went live to Nickel Mines, Penn., outside the Amish schoolhouse where a 32-year-old truck driver killed five young girls and injured five others in a one-room Amish schoolhouse. What are your reactions to the recent school shootings? Do you feel safe sending your kids to school? What actions can our communities take to make our schools a safer place?

Thank you for this episode. I go to Dawson College, and my school was involved in a shooting last month (September 13th 2006) and it is a VERY scary thing, even if you personally were not there to witness it. Thank you for this story, and our prayers goes out to Emily and everyone else that was hurt at her school.

Dr. Ablow,
Whatever you do, you do with class, with feeling, with intelligence. Your show is not about you, it is about the courageous people on your show, your immediate audience, and the rest of us tuning in. We weep for the slain innocents, and you helped us to bear this sorrow.

Just wanted to say that it is a scary thought just by thinking of it. You never know when such a tragedy like that will happen again. I just wanted to say that i will pray for everyone that was involved and for EMILY that touched and left many hearts mourning and and broken. I also saw in the show but didn't quite get it about donating money to EMILY'S fam. i think. If you Dr. Keith, or anyone know please link me. I want to help her fam out and just want to make them feel that i understand there situation. !!!!I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

I pray every day for Emily and all the other children victimized by these outrageous attacks. The random acts of kindness idea is a wonderful way to honor them and so much good can come out of it. I read Marjorie Lindholm's book and commend her for sharing her story because many of the survivors could have a long road ahead in truly healing from something like this and maybe they won't fee so alone. Thanks Dr. Keith for taking on such a tough subject.
