Does Hollywood make you feel imperfect?

Comments

Yes, I do infact agree that the media/hollywood does have a effect upon young adults. Young adults tend to be so self-concious, they do crazy things. Crazy things such as Bulimia, and Anorexia.
This is what hollywood teaches these people. Brain washes them into believing they should reach this perfection of being super skinny. This is all hollywood/media shows now-a-days. These beautiful, thin and perfect people. This mainly effects women of all ages rather then men. For exsample there are some days where I accept myself for what I look like, average/slim; but not perfect. Then, there are other days where I do not accept myself for what I look like, because of the very skinny girls around me. Sure, friends tell me I am skinny, but inside I don't believe that I'm skinny enough. Most girls would have the same opinions and views such as mine. Others may say that they are happy for who they are, and that they accept themselves, and that my friend, is true beauty. Learning to accept yourself for who you are, and what you look like. Everyone is beautiful, in their own special and unique way. It takes time to accept yourself, its not just going to happen over night. It may even Take a few years, but when it does happen, you feel a satisfaction only you can provide for yourself, and no-one else can. Happiness is like a jigsaw-puzzle. There are different and unique pieces you have to find to fit togeather and attach to the game of Life. Everyday we learn new things, even from our mistakes.

I feel that hollywood brain washes young people. I was shocked when I seen a sign with the women from freinds saying chic anorexia girls. Now they have double zero becaue a size 1 is not small enough. We see these rail thin stars and it's so excepting. They don't praise big women, there's not even 1 plus size supermodel.

i would like if in ur show u would have a program were you would talk about healthy diets for teenagers you want to lose weight and healthy excersice i would really appreciate that but if its not possible then can you put some tips in your internet page

I had an eating disorder for 6 years. It's not always about appearence. It's about finding a physical manifestion to express feelings that you have not learned to deal with and use to make you a stronger person. The reason I coveted the model body was because I could see the painful energy behind the striving, the nee, and search for something more profound than what I was presented and bombarded with on a daily basis. I identified profoundly. Our society in many ways promotes body alone, as suppose to the unification reflected in the body of a healthy intellect, spirit, emotion etc. I am by no means perfect, but I have commited my life to building and projecting the love I have for life through myself, my body. I started to get self-concious. I did not want girls to think that they had to look like me, because what I was doing was unnatural and self-destructive. I am still small, but very healthy and revitalised. Having a poor body image in not negative just in that it harms your health, slowly shutting you down;It also destroys your mind and passion! I felt outcast so often, until I realised that it was myself choseing not to communicate, hiding everything.....I was a soliloquy. Commercialism is not THE problem, but it is a factor for people who are suseptable and not fully comfortable or secure in what thier true beauty is. Models are just an agreed upon ideal for what we should all strive for. Break down the walls society puts up, and question them!!!!! This is all just a ubiquious road, and if we allow ourselves to be dragged behind the wheels, we'll be just as artifical as our cultural standards.

There are occaisions when you look at models and actresses and think "oh my god... if I could only have *insert celebrity*'s lips/skin/body/ect." (Even more so as someone who's studying theatre).

But more and more it's looking at the deteriorating effects of the hollywood weight and look obsession and being happy that I'm NOT like that. I can work out and have a good body, but I know that I NEVER want to look sickly.

For the most part, I like where I'm at.

I don't watch movies and I know exactly what Jamie Lee Curtis looks like when she isn't all airbrushed. So I don't rely on the "smoke and mirrors" of Photoshop. Two years ago I was 25 lbs lighter and the only thing that changed about me was the number inside my clothing. Still the same old me. There is just a little more of me to love.

No, hollywood does not make me feel imperfect because I I am firm in who I am and love myself.
